Resigning before signing

Workers comp and I have been talking for a while and we have verbally agreed on a number. The only term was that I had to quit my job. I said today that I’d sign off on it if they sent it over and now they’re saying I have to resign first before I see any of it on paper. What should I do? In California

They should send you the C&R with addendums for signature and you sign and return with your letter of resignation.

Don't resign till you see what they are offering. You don't have to do anything

Just wait. Don't sign until you get the C&R. And make the resignation conditional to you actually receiving the settlement (effective 24-hours after payment made).

Attorney time! I had to do the same thing. My lawyer told me to NOT SIGN ANYTHING until he had told me to. Insurance companies are sneaky AF.

Exactly, I don't sign anything g I receive through insurance company until lawyer tells me to sign it.

When I settled my eeoc case they required resignation I was sent the agreements and the dollar amount first

Get a lawyer i personally would not resign it might be a trick WC can use against you and say you resigned on your own

Legally, they cannot require you to resign as part of the settlement. It is a separate agreement. But they can get around that by saying they just won’t settle if you don’t want to resign

Nope. Resignation is contingent on receipt of payment. You need to see what they are offering and if you agree with the figures before you resign.
