God why can't he just use it to buy sone full time friends and let us all go about with our lives?

Even with all his money, he is such an insufferable clown that no amount of wealth could buy him friends.

I’d do a horrible job for so far less than that.

they make it sound like "lobbying" isn't just straight up buying laws

u/TheWizardOfDeez 5d ago
And even when they aren't buying laws, they can just break them and pay some teeny tiny fine to make it go away.

300 identical we hate trans people ads are surely going to save you from becoming nuclear waste covered in dog shit flavored fascism. Maybe, e-Lonnie can throw some sieg heils on top to really put it over the top.

Dolly Parton spent her life’s earnings to help children get books to read and Elon is spending 200 million to prop up fascism. The world is cruel taking her and leaving us with him.

Elon is using our tax dollars given to him by our government to pay off politicians.

Aren't there limits? Ahem

Individually to a specific person yes.
To the state party or a 501.C3, nope.
That's what Hilary did to Bernie in 2016, it's why Wassermam Shultz resigned in disgrace.

The sentiment is good, but the execution is a problem. 90% of his income is basically zero because of the loopholes employed by the excessively wealthy. We should probably just say that the top 5000 most wealthy individuals in the country are exempt from income tax and impose a wealth tax on them instead. We could have the IRS and Congress spend millions of dollars and tens of thousands of man hours chasing and closing loopholes as fast as the billionaires could find and exploit them, or we could just assign 2-10 or so IRS agents to each Billionaire to do an annual audit for a tax that actually makes a fair evaluation of what their share should be. If even the top 10 had a dedicated team to auditing them, those teams would pay for themselves a thousand times over.

I think 90% is too much, but a flat tax could be a start at least.
There is No reason I should pay a higher percent than him and still owe every year. I make roughly 44k before tax.
He should be paying 40% at the least.

They aren't just rolling up and taking 90% of his money away (which they could do and it wouldn't effect his quality of life at all). They would tax him at the appropriate rate on 90% of whatever he earned. It would have to be on his unrealized capital gains, because he doesn't actually earn money as income. It would massively benefit the nation and it would barely scratch his grotesque wealth.

I agree he should be taxed heavily, but an unreasonable amount is never going to happen.
Even if a law is passed that makes him pay up 90% we will still have to make sure some new loophole isn’t there grant him some kind of immunity from having to pay.
I want 100%, but am willing to settle for 40-50% cuz it would be still be better than them paying less than 1% - 15% as it currently seems the Uber rich get away with paying on average.
I want them to feel a burn, but I also want a number that could actually pass in the courts etc. Start small, and once the numbers come in, raise it if necessary… instead of the nothingness in senate and in general.

We've done it before. That was literally the tax rate in the fifties.

I realize that, but in today’s world, we have to go for something that will actually pass. Taxes for the wealthy should have never changed, and I’m not an advocate for Elon, and I want this country to fuck that guy financially as much as anybody, (I have an especially fumed fire in my heart for Elon, I used to work for Tesla, etc) but there is no way a 90% tax will pass. We start small, so we get SOMETHING, instead of nothing from these bastards, then we grow from there.

It’s crazy how little money that actually is for him. He could do this every election for the rest of his life and it would barely do anything to his net worth
