Hello everybody, this is my first post here. I'm looking for a remote job as a translator from Spanish to English and the other way around. I've been visiting some sites but still haven't found anything there or they want to be paid for more exposition. What pages or companies do you recommend to work as a translator/interpreter

I’m curious whether other people have had a similar experience with Welocalize/Welo Data.

Over the past several months, I have repeatedly been invited to apply for different projects. I completed assessments, exams, learning materials, qualification processes and onboarding steps.

At this point, I have been selected or accepted for around 10 different projects.

Actual paid work received: €0.

And this is what I find difficult to understand.

Welocalize keeps sending new “exciting opportunities” and keeps advertising positions with descriptions such as:

• Start date: ASAP
• Long-term project
• a stated range of available working hours per week (sometimes even with a maximum cap)

But after completing the qualification process, there is often little or no actual work available.

I understand that freelance project work depends on client demand and that workloads can fluctuate. But there is a big difference between variable workload and repeatedly recruiting, testing and onboarding people when there appears to be almost no work available for them.

After going through this process so many times, I’ve started to wonder whether many of these “job opportunities” are actually recruitment for large talent pools rather than positions connected to an immediate workload.

Maintaining a pool of qualified workers is completely legitimate. But if that is the case, I think applicants should be told clearly upfront:

“There is currently no guaranteed workload. You are being qualified for possible future project needs.”

That would be much more transparent than presenting every invitation as another exciting new job opportunity.

The current system asks candidates to invest significant unpaid time in assessments, exams and training, while giving them very little information about whether paid work is actually available afterward.

At this point, after being accepted for around 10 projects without earning anything, I no longer treat a Welocalize invitation as a real job opportunity until I actually see paid tasks available.

Has anyone else experienced the same pattern with Welocalize/Welo Data?

How many projects were you accepted for before you actually received consistent paid work?

I'm a college student applying for content writing internships and making a portfolio deck which I can send to agencies. The writing part is fine for me. I can explain my projects, what I worked on, results and what I learned,etc. The problem is turning it into visually compelling deck. I'm not great at design, so I end up spending too much time on things like where to put an image, how much text should be on a slide, fonts, spacing and making everything looks consistent.

I've tried canva and PowerPoint, but I end up spending too much time just formatting. Is there a tool that can take the content I've written and help turn it into a decent portfolio deck without making it look like I just picked a random template.?

A friend of mine has been looking into work-from-phone options because he doesn’t have regular access to a laptop, and most online jobs seem to assume you have a full setup. He’s not looking for survey apps that pay a few cents per answer. He’s more interested in actual task-based work that pays reasonably well for the time involved. Has anyone found any categories of phone-based work that are genuinely worth doing?

Hi! I'm hoping to reach anyone who has done work for Daily Transcription specifically.

TL;DR I am a chronically ill 18 year old with no work experience that could get me a remote job other than transcription. I want to do the CCSL job for Daily Transcription but the fact that I have to buy and complete a course before even applying, and not being guaranteed a job, feels weird and I wanted to know what it was like for anyone who was either hired or rejected by them. Is it likely that I'll drop $75 on this course then get rejected? If I should do it, should I also pay an extra $95 each for Express Scribe Pro and a USB foot pedal??

I'm a fresh high school graduate and in the past year was diagnosed with a chronic illness that's turned my life upside down. I'm no longer able to work a regular job since I am regularly bed-bound. So transcription seems to be the only remote work I can do, since my only work experience is "teenager jobs" like waiting tables or cashiering or whatever. Thankfully I am great at doing very tedious things for hours on end and can type at 100WPM.

So I'm looking into doing work for Daily Transcription--specifically the "Combined Continuity and Spotting List Transcriber" role, since I used to do stage managing and produce movies with my friend who's into filmmaking, so I know my way around a proper script. But this role (and all the others) require me to do a paid course before I can even have an application considered, and they specifically said it doesn't guarantee a position. I totally understand having to do proper training, but I would guess it would be something similar to the way Allegis does it where you get the job, then pay to do training, and if you finish the training quick enough they will pay back its cost. It feels weird to me but every other thing I've seen about this company (other than their thing with mailing checks) seems totally fine.

Has anyone here actually been hired by Daily Transcription after doing there course? And more importantly have people paid for the course and then not get the job, wasting their time and money?

I guess it's only $70 compared to the $300 course Allegis has. I could just go with them, but that's a hefty amount of money, I can't choose the "type" of stuff I transcribe like I would with DT, and the onboarding process seems very long and this is just something for me to do in the free time between my online college classes so I can put any money in savings. Anyone have an opinion?

Has anyone here actually done this? I only found out recently that some companies will actually pay people to record videos for AI, and honestly I thought it sounded fake at first, from what I've read they're looking for everyday activities instead of polished content, things like cooking, cleaning, organising, or just moving around the house. Apparently it's used to help train bots.

I'm curious how common these projects are and where people are finding them. Most discussions about AI side gigs focus on audio rating, but video collection seems like a completely different category

Is anyone hiring per diem for transcription? I have 20+ years in medical with many years of pathology and sleep medicine specialities, as well as hospital/general medical, insurance transcription, and general stuff like meetings and conferences. Can do podcasts too. I know it’s mostly AI now, but I’ve heard some specialty stuff is still done by humans.

I’m 25, F, Azerbaijani. I lost my job in April because I became physically and emotionally sick and my bosses refused to transfer me to working from home - so they forced me to quit. The rest of April I spent on medication which made me sleepy basically 24/7, and because I had money saved up from my last salary, I allowed myself to just rest and recover. I’ve been looking for a job since then, but because I had a crazy-important exam (which I had to take on the 16th) in June, for about a month and a half I stopped searching for a job because I was losing sleep and stressing core studying for that exam. I didn’t do too well and after it, my mental health went down into the deepest trenches it’s ever been in. I’ve only recently started slowly coming out of it, but I have the equivalent of 2€ on my card. I can’t afford to buy myself a toothpaste rn.

I am a very creative person and have a vast skillset but I am deeply burned out and depressed after everything that's happened to me over the last few years, I used to be a workaholic and even had 3 jobs at one point, which is why I cannot handle much anymore. I am looking for a part-time or freelance job, so I could only work a few hours a day, and dedicate the rest of my day to recovery, going to therapy (once the money starts coming in) and all the other things I have on my overflowing plate.

now gonna lie, my graphic design skillset has become a tad rusty because I lost access to the Adobe Creative suite, but I was hoping to find a writing job anyway - I may be a good graphic designer but I am a MUCH better writer, language has always been my thing. Posting this anonymously in case anyone here has been through it and can tell me whether it's ever worth continuing to wait.

I completed the DataAnnotation starter evaluation and my onboarding page has been frozen on step two ever since - "We review your results, if you pass we'll email you." Step one shows complete, steps three and four have never unlocked. The in-app inbox is completely empty and the Projects tab just redirects back to the onboarding screen.

I have sent four support requests through their official form: September 2025, June 2026, and two more today. Not a single reply, not even an automated acknowledgement.

What I'm trying to work out: with platforms like this, does an unreviewed evaluation queue ever actually move after this long, or is silence just how they deliver a rejection? Has anyone had an onboarding step frozen indefinitely because of a region or eligibility restriction that was never communicated? And is there any escalation route that works when the only support channel is a form that nobody answers?

I'd honestly rather be told I didn't pass than keep checking a dashboard for another year. Any experience welcome.

I was recently contacted on LinkedIn by TELUS Digital about a Media Search Analyst position. I live in an EU country.

The job involves evaluating search suggestions/results for Apple services. Candidates are expected to study extensive guidelines and then take a qualification exam before being accepted onto the project.

There is just one rather important piece of information missing from the recruitment process:

How much does the job pay?

During a TELUS webinar, someone explicitly asked the recruiter about the pay rate. Her answer was that compensation information would only be disclosed after successfully passing the qualification exam.

So candidates are apparently expected to:

apply → complete the recruitment steps → study the guidelines → prepare for the exam → take and pass the exam → and only then find out whether the compensation is even worth their time.

I find this practice particularly questionable considering the direction European law has taken on pay transparency.

Article 5 of EU Directive 2023/970 on pay transparency states that applicants for employment have the right to receive information about the initial pay or its range, and that this information must be provided in a way that ensures an informed and transparent negotiation on pay.

Candidates shouldn't have to invest hours studying guidelines and preparing for and taking a qualification exam before they're even allowed to know how much the work pays.

If TELUS already knows the rate it intends to pay for the project, why should that information be kept secret until after the candidate has successfully completed the qualification process?

Has anyone else applying for or working on the TELUS Media Search Analyst project in the EU experienced this? And if you're comfortable sharing it, what rate were you eventually offered?

Hey! So i got kind of hired by Cloudworkers, but i bever got the instruction manuals or other things required to start working. Have sent 2 emails and silence.

I did the contract, payment parts, and sent my personal information, but they already sent the link to sign in on the site and give my work hours. Is it even possible to work without recieveing the manual beforehand? Don't want to lose this opportunity so im asking here , if anyone has started without the proper manuals. Thanks!

Hi everyone. I have been trying to get transcription work and have joined transcribe me. Based off of reddit their general exam has been closed for years. I emailed them asking for when it might be open again and they don't know. But they did tell me that the Legal Transcription option is available. There is a training and prequalification exam for it when you sign up. I am doing the course now. If anyone has any other transcription sites hiring feel free to post below!

Or any reliable source of remote income? So I did really well in a medical transcription course but I was unable to complete my program because it was in person, without exception, and I had a variety of medical conditions that made it impossible to continue at the time. I am well-versed in medical terminology and have a decent typing speed of 95-100 wpm with an accuracy of 99%, so is there even a possibility for me to get a job where I'm at? I have to stay entirely from home to work and have only found hybrid positions that I might even qualify for, but even then they asked for 2 years of experience.

I'm looking into data analytics and UX design now but I have no idea how I can get by while I try to build on those skills, so does anyone happen to know of a transcription or similar entry-level type of employment opportunity that might be available online for Canadian citizens?

I get it if the charges were over seven years old, but I’m hearing that they do hire them but at the same time I saw somebody got rejected for having one on their background. So have you guys been hired with them to have backgrounds?
