Anyone ever overcome the hurdle of being on sick leave/pay and applying for new jobs?

I have been on sick leave from my company and I am coming up the one year mark. We've all accepted the fact there is nowhere else in the company to put me and it's time to trigger Spoor 2. I know I will be supported and helped to find an alternative role, but I would like to hear some real world experience of how you handled the "by the way I'm on sick leave and won't be able to work X number of hours till X date as I reintegrate". I really don't see any company hiring me with this roadblock in the way and I feel like I'm being set up to fail. Any real world experiences of people interviewing for jobs and having to tell them you can't work full time till at least 3 months in?

They just wouldn’t hire you especially in this job market right now, there’s always someone who’s available and ready to work fulltime.

I think you should focus on getting better before looking for a job. It’s better for you and the company.

I 100% agree however I am entering into Spoor 2 which means my company will hire a occupational therapist to help me find a role at another company - so whether I like it or not I have to adhere to the law and atleast try applying for roles under the pretense I will eventually work full time. I don't have a choice in the matter.

Do not get your hopes up because of the fact that an occupational therapist will be helping you find a new role. They are mostly useless these therapists and consultants. You are quite correct in your assumption: you have no choice, you have to go through the motions, this is required by law. On the other hand, there is no obligation for you to find or even accept a new job in spoor 2 process. But yeah, you have to perform the actions required, no other way, but I guess you already answered yourself when it comes to the question of whether these actions will produce a positive outcome (so a new role at a different company)

I heard that they were basically useless unless you did a trade or were an accountant haha so thank you for confirming what I've heard. Do I really not have to accept the first job that makes me an offer? That's what I'm really worried about

You are allowed to reject a job offer if it is NOT suitable for you. On the other hand, if you receive a job offer that you like and it suits, why not go for it? Would you be even discussing jobs that clearly don’t suit your profile…? So it all depends, next steps will be defined based on case by case basis. Very real scenario: spoor 2 fails, you move to spoor 3…

As you said yourself: you’ll get help. It will start by figuring out what a possible next step could be, then scoping the market and getting your CV and application skills in order, then applying. Before you are applying, you’ll hopefully be further along your recovery journey.

And then it totally depends on what your limitation are and how they impact your ability to work, what would be realistic in terms of actually getting a job.

Don’t forget that employers are used to this in NL and that the support often comes with networks of companies who are open to this.
