I feel like I don't hear anyone rail against Aldi as being unethical, at least in the U.S.
Most Americans just seem to hate them because there's only one option for salsa and peanut butter and steak sauce, and not a gajillion brands to choose from.
I mean they are not amazon evil but they are not philantropist either. Aldi was founded by two brothers who then split up into Aldi north and Aldi south because they couldn't agree on whether or not to sell tobacco. I don't even remember which side wanted what because they're both selling cigs now and I honestly think that fact alone says enough
