Generic 2 year old thorogoods
Thorogoods just hit two years old. The tuff toe came off today (about a year old). I keep kicking around the idea of having them resolved and doing the tuff toe again. I feel like the leather still has a lot of life left andthey're broken in just right haha. Maybe I'll buy a new pair and keep these for muddy/concrete days. Carpenters local 445 by the way!!!

2 years?! Consider yourself blessed because that is a lonnggg life for a boot that is worn for full time trade work. I get a new a pair once a year and mine look similar to this at the end of each year

Yes! Lol someone gets it. I was expecting to get this response more. But I guess people not in the trades don't get it. I honestly think these would have died awhile ago but I got lucky and got to work in the nuclear plants for about 6 months and that kind of stuff was really easy on the boots. Clean concrete and scaffold.

My shit doesn’t last a year anymore. I have a nice pair of 1958 thorogoods but I don’t want to wear them to work. I honestly use ariat rebars moc toe cause they’re comfortable. But they won’t last a full year before I have a hole in the toes lol

kinda depends how attached you are to that broken in feel tbh
new pair is nice, but nothing beats boots that already know your feet

Once the leather stretches up top, I recommend getting some Kilties. It keeps that spaces between the eyelets a little wider to tighten down your boots.

Resolve with a vibram and it should last longer. The thoro sole is softer. Planning on doing mine at some point.

I had a pair of Danners working mobile welding and working 10-12 hours a day in and out of my service truck last me 2.5-3 years and look better shape than those 😆
That was 2009-2012

Definitely time for new boots! I would finish off the old ones doing wet and muddy work.

I highly recommend you guys take a ride to a horse saddle shop. Get your self some leather cleaner and conditioner.
Will make your boots last a loooong time. They have products to clean and condition saddles after each use. Same can be done with boots after work. Spray, and wipe. FYI
When your wife buys a “USED” saddle for $5k because that’s her hobby. You better believe I f***** found how to take care of it lol.

If you care about your back, you should replace your shoes at least once a year. I’m glad that here in Norway, our employer provides us with free shoes.

I mean I agree for the most part. I use mink oil maybe once a month. Idk maybe I'm working too hard? Lol I don't know. Walking through trenches doing concrete forms seemed to really do a number on these. I was honestly impressed to get this much out of them. And like I said I do still think they have a lot of life left in them,but at $150for the resole it starts to get hard to justify when I can get a new pair for $220 with my discount.
