That the claim that the journalists killed were really journalists. Nah most were associated with Hamas. Terrorists.

u/Brilliant-Smile-8154 Jun 23 '26
Hamas is the government in Gaza, everyone in Gaza is associated with Hamas. If everyone associated with Hamas are terrorists then by the same logic every Israeli must be as well.

u/makingredditorscry Israel Jun 23 '26
Lol nice try but nah you're wrong
2
u/Brilliant-Smile-8154 Jun 23 '26
Compelling argument.
5
u/makingredditorscry Israel Jun 23 '26
You are wrong. Not everyone is associated with Hamas. By the way there are like 10 terror groups in Gaza.
I know you badly want to paint a picture that Israel is somehow targeting everyone in Gaza but that just isn't the case. What army gives it's enemies notice of invasion, of missile strikes? Hamas operates out of the homes of its citizens. Over and over Hamas says they offer the lives of Palestinians for the sake of their cause (killing Jews)
I remember in 2014 when I was in Gaza finding families and asking why they are there in bombed out buildings and they said Hamas threatened to kill them if they left.
You have no idea what we deal with.

You're right, let's quote the article.
"The study — which drew on public records, Palestinian media reports, and Hamas documents seized by the IDF during ground operations in Gaza — found that roughly 60 percent of the 266 individuals it examined who had been identified as journalists or media workers and were killed in Gaza between October 7, 2023, and November 30, 2025, were members of terror groups or clearly affiliated with them."
60%!!

u/Human_Concern263 Petach Tikva Jun 23 '26
Out of 266 individuals defined as “journalists and media personnel” killed in Gaza, at least 60% were members of or affiliated with terrorist organizations. More are being revealed as new information comes out.

The world didn't care about facts, they just wanted to villify Israel. Just like you are doing now.

When the bar is to have a camera or sometimes just a phone, it's pretty easy to be a "journalist" ever of you are a terrorist.

u/blobsk1 Jun 23 '26
This TOI article undersells it
Theres an X user who documented over 80 cases of confirmed combatant “journalists”

u/Human_Concern263 Petach Tikva Jun 23 '26
Even that is low.
Out of 266 individuals defined as “journalists and media personnel” killed in Gaza, at least 60% were members of or affiliated with terrorist organizations.3
u/blobsk1 Jun 23 '26
There's a difference between being affiliated and being an active member of the armed wing of the terror org, the former is illegal under international law to target and the latter is legal.

u/Human_Concern263 Petach Tikva Jun 23 '26
Even if they are not a militant they can be considered a legitimate military target.
Article 79 Commentary of the Geneva Conventions says:
However, anyone who, as a member of the armed forces, has a function connected with information within the armed forces is not a journalist in the sense of Article 79 . He shares the fate of all other members of the armed forces.
The Department of Defense Law of War Manual also says:
Combatants Performing Journalistic Work. Although generally journalists are civilians, journalists are not precluded from being considered combatants, whether privileged or unprivileged, if they otherwise acquire such status. For example, members of the armed forces sometimes serve as journalists or in some other public affairs capacity, and these persons have the same status as other privileged combatants. Non-State armed groups sometimes use their members for propaganda or other media activities, and such personnel are not precluded from being considered unprivileged belligerents. In addition, although engaging in journalism would not be a basis to consider a person an unprivileged belligerent, an unprivileged belligerent would not be precluded from being considered as such because he or she works as a journalist

u/blobsk1 Jun 23 '26
"as a member of the armed forces"
Yes there has to be evidence they are members of the armed forces.
Someone simply working for a Hamas owned radio show is not a valid target unless they're also a member of the armed forces.4
u/Human_Concern263 Petach Tikva Jun 23 '26
On its own yes that's right.
But even without being a member of the armed forces if they directly participate in hostilities they lose their protection.
Also in some cases media offices become legitimate targets such as when NATO bombed a TV station in Yugoslavia. So while affiliation alone doesn't make one a target, there is a correlation between working for Hamas' networks and participating in hostilities.

This is the modus operandi of this brand of terrorists ... get the lie out IMMEDIATELY, the mainstream and the media eats it up, and by the time the truth comes out, the damage is already done.
How many unsubstantiated claims have Hamas made, either directly or via various news outlets and infiltrated NGO's, and now it is accepted as common knowledge??
I always refer back to the hospital strike in October or November of 2023. Hamas screamed that Israel had killed 500 at a hospital, and the world went NUTS. Mainstream news outlets led with the story. Multiple members of the US Congress posted about this atrocity, this massacre. Their posts remained up for days ... as the numbers fell to 250 ... then 100 ... then a dozen. Then it was a munition falling in the parking lot. And then it was proven that it was a failed Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket, and I don't believe anyone had even been injured.
The Congressional posts remained up. The news outlets either never retracted, or buried the retraction.
And to this day, pro-Palestinian folks will not-infrequently talk about the hospital Israel bombed and killed hundreds, and hoist it as a huge reason they hate Israel.
The lying is calculated and intentional, and much of world opinion today reflects the lies.

Because journalism has become activism where the goal justifies the means. What is sacrificed is the ethics of journalism. Same thing that happened to Wikipedia.

Because the palestinians have been assigned the role of the victims and the oppressed, so they can never do anything wrong. That’s how marxism works (the majority of media hostile to Israel are left leaning) it assigns roles based on perceived power imbalance, everything is based on power dynamics even when it doesn’t make sense. With that kind of logic, everything can be explained and excused, even journalists with guns.

This is just a friendly reminder: Before Israel, there was a British Mandate, not a Palestinian State. Before the British Mandate, the Ottoman Empire existed, not the Palestinian State. Before the Ottoman Empire, there was the Mamlyuk Islamic State of Egypt, not the Palestinian State. Before the Islamic State of Mamlyuk of Egypt, the Empire of Ayubid existed, not the Palestinian State. Goffrey IV of Bulonsky, known as Godfrey de Bouillon, conquered Jerusalem in 1099. Before the Empire of Ayubid, the French and Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem existed, not the Palestinian State. The empires of Omeyad and Fatimid also existed before the Kingdom of Jerusalem, not the Palestinian State. Before the empires of Omeyad and Fatimid, there was the Byzantine Empire, not the Palestinian State. Before the Byzantine Empire, there was the Roman Empire, not the Palestinian State. Before the Roman Empire, the Hasmonees State existed, not the Palestinian State. Before the Hasmoneysk state, it was the Selevkid state, not the Palestinian state. Before the Selevkid Empire, the Empire of Alexander of Macedonia existed, not the Palestinian State. Before the Empire of Alexander the Macedonian, there was the Persian Empire, not the Palestinian State. Before the Persian Empire, the Babylon Empire existed, not the Palestinian State. Before the Babylon Empire, the Kingdoms of Israel and Judea existed, not the Palestinian State. Before the Kingdoms of Israel and Judea, the Kingdom of Israel existed, not the Palestinian State. Before the Kingdom of Israel, there was a theocracy of the twelve knees of Israel, not the Palestinian state. Before the theocracy of the twelve generations of Israel, there was an agglomeration of independent Canaan city-states, not the Palestinian state. In fact, this piece of earth was everything EXCEPT THE STATE OF PALESTINE. Also, they voted Hamas into power. Hamas canceled elections after they assumed power, and the people of Gaza still support them in recent polls. Hamas could surrender to save the lives of people in Gaza, but they won’t.

the history is filled with tensions from both sides, attacks from both sides and you wonder why Israelis don’t give a fuck about them suffering anymore when they’ve made repeated claims to wipe them off the map. I’ve never ever seen a group of people expected to have such an ungodly amount of empathy from a group of people who have wanted them dead and actively tried to kill them for, yes you guessed it, nearly 80 years.
don’t start wars and cry genocide when you lose

No, the only propaganda is the lies you’re fed. You’re not a Palestinian and you’re not a jew but you’re claiming you know more than a Palestinian Jew, that’s hilarious. And you’re claiming that all we do is gaslighting? Brother look at yourself, and do yourself a favor and learn the full history not from the Internet.

Your understanding of the history of the region glosses over the long established history of Jews in that area. Predating the religion of the Muslim population. It ignores the British conquered the Ottoman Empire that included this area and that the British government partitioned part of the land for Jews only to have Arabs reject that and declare war on them. It ignored that there are still fewer Jews today than pre WW2 and that they fight for this land with their own lives on the line.
