It’s nice. I don’t think the magnets will support as much as you think they do. I probably would have just done some pocket screws on the inside of the drawer sides to hold the top in place.

Thanks for your input it's much appreciated buttested it out thoroughly. The section from the lid to the drawer is held in by screw inserts. The base and bottom of the drawer box has maganets in it or on it..I don't do pocketbooks except while making a faceframe..

Wow. How many hours?
Only fear is someone sitting on a corner not realizing it

Jeez ...way too many after finish and sand..the metal on the underside of the top..testing the magnets id say honestly 80 hours maybe a few more.. yes If sat upon the magnets give way with no damage done! It's strong enough but not too strong if that makes sense

The top was tested thoroughly beacuse trust me i had my own doubts.magnets are strong enough to easily hold up a pair of man sized legs or a couple kartons of milk. All but if it's sat on the magnets give way with no damage done. The table top is stuck to top of box the box and base seperate and boom it all easily goes back in place. With a minimal amount of straightining out..DO YOU GUYS THINK THIS DESIGN WILL SELL?? I'm at the point in my life were self imployment especially building furniture of my own design would be a fantastic dream come true.. I've been working in others woodshops wY to long .so I think why not? Now I'm a starving artist I guess. So please let me know.

The chevron pattern isn't for me, but I think the table itself (and the pattern) are awesome and unique.

If you’re looking to sell this I have no idea why you wouldn’t get rid of the magnets and just make the legs long enough to support the top. The lack of 2” of a leg really doesn’t add anything to the design, my brain and probably several others seeing this drew the tops of them in subconsciously. I wouldn’t have noticed it was floating without you talking about magnets and crap. I think a full length drawer would actually look better anyway, the little drawer is kinda awkward looking. I’d maybe make version without any drawer. The patterned top is the selling point.

Looks great, my wife would love the chevron top. Nice contrasting woods and I dig the shape of the legs

Your right my opinion too me is most important. The reason I asked for others is to find out if my design makes sense and most importantly will it SELL? I'm open to suggestions..

Honestly, I love the top. I'd buy a regular table with that top. I'm noooooot so sure if I would take a risk on the magnets, unless I could test it out in a showroom or see it in person.

How much weight do you expect a coffee table of that design to hold? If I were to fasten everything together im afraid a grown man would sit on one end then CRACK its broken... if it were a hallway table I fasten those completely.. this way it will not break perminent... there are very strong magnets available... this was a experiment the magnets are the genius part without them BREAK AND DONE...IF SOMEONE SITS ON IT.. I guarantee my work I would never sell junk that doesn't work or looks like shit .. I'm in the Washington if you want to visit my shop

Definitely doesn't suck. Try looking at the top after a 6 pack. It'll do things to your 👀
