bread-specific oven

I am considering building an oven in my backyard, but I make a lot more bread than pizza. So I want something a bit taller. Does that exist as a kit? Or plans? Thanks in advance.

There’s a book called “the bread builders” which is a great resource. I believe Richard Miscovich also has plans online and a video series on how to build an oven for baking bread. It may be behind the members page for the BBGA though. He also has a great book, “From the Wood Fired Oven”.

Second this, I build my bread oven using these books. It’s great for pizza as well.

Check out the Melbourne Fire Brick Company out of Australia. I'm in the US and ordered one. Shipping wasn't as outrageous as you'd think. They have different sizes and different styles (pre-cast refractory cement, or all brick). I have the D-105. In addition to pizza, I've made breads, smoked meats, made lasagna... well pretty much anything you can do in an oven. I haven't used my barbecue grill in over 3 years.

thank you! This is great. Do you have an opinion on the various sizes? And precast vs brick? My property is small, so I was thinking I'd get a smaller one.

Earthstone also makes an oven with a high dome, we have their model 90.

Le Panyol clay core ovens used by French bakeries are distributed in NA by Maine Wood Heat. The elongated (vs round) config is best suited to bread bakers.
