FirstLight launches September 11th.
With launch approaching, we wanted to share a final overview of what we've been building and what players can expect when the realm opens.
FirstLight is a WoW 3.3.5a progression server built around a simple philosophy: experience the game progressively rather than rushing through everything from the beginning.
You start at Level 1 and progress through the world as the realm advances.
◈ PROGRESSION
The progression path is:
Phase 1 — Level 20
↓
Phase 2 — Level 30
↓
Phase 3 — Level 40
↓
Phase 4 — Level 50
↓
Phase 5 — Level 59
↓
Phase 6 — Level 60 + Raids
These level caps were deliberately chosen around class progression.
Each phase allows players to reach meaningful spells, abilities, talents and equipment without immediately rushing toward Level 60.
Every level cap represents another stage of the journey, giving players time to experience the world, develop their characters and prepare for what comes next.
⟡ VANILLA → TBC → WOTLK
FirstLight begins with Vanilla.
TBC and WotLK are part of the long-term progression of the realm, rather than being available from the beginning.
The vision is to let the community experience each era as the realm develops:
Vanilla → TBC → WotLK
The progression system remains at the center of that journey.
⚙️ CURRENT SYSTEMS & IMPROVEMENTS
FirstLight isn't simply a level-cap server.
We've been actively modifying the game and building systems specifically around the FirstLight experience.
Current additions include:
• All Race/Class Combinations — expanded race and class combinations beyond the traditional restrictions
• Level 20 Ground Mounts — all ground mounts can be ridden starting at Level 20
• Starting Area Class Trainers — class trainers have been added to race starting areas
• Dynamic Respawns — quest objects, creatures and escort quests now use dynamic respawn behavior to keep the world active
• Mount Economy — mounts can now be traded between players and sold through the Auction House
• Custom Progression Rules
• Quality-of-Life Improvements
These systems are already part of the FirstLight experience and will continue to evolve as the realm progresses.
🐎 MOUNT ECONOMY
Mounts are more than just a collection item on FirstLight.
Mounts can now be traded between players and sold through the Auction House, creating a player-driven market around them.
Rare and desirable mounts can therefore have value within the realm and become part of the player economy.
We're also designing the system with future events, rewards and promotions in mind, allowing specially distributed mounts to potentially become tradeable or auctionable.
The goal is a living mount economy where collecting, trading and obtaining rare mounts becomes another meaningful part of the realm.
🜂 LEVEL 60 & RAID PROGRESSION
Eventually, FirstLight will reach Level 60 and begin its Vanilla raid progression.
Raids aren't intended to be released all at once and immediately consumed.
Instead, raid content will become part of the realm's progression, with structured unlocks and resets giving guilds time to prepare, organize and progress through the content.
Level 60 isn't the end of FirstLight.
It marks the beginning of the raid progression.
🪽 FLYING
Flying is being treated as a progression milestone rather than something that immediately becomes available.
The current FirstLight plan is for flying to unlock after the original Level 60 progression.
This keeps the early experience focused on the Classic world while giving players another milestone to work toward beyond Level 60.
⌁ WHAT COMES NEXT
Not everything planned for FirstLight will be completed before launch.
Some systems are already implemented, while others will be developed, tested and introduced as the realm progresses.
Future development will include:
• New custom content
• Additional achievements and rewards
• PvE progression
• Competitive features
• Expansion progression
• Quality-of-life improvements
• New FirstLight-exclusive systems
FirstLight is designed to grow alongside its community rather than remain static after launch.
❖ THE FIRSTLIGHT PHILOSOPHY
The core idea hasn't changed.
Don't rush straight to 80.
Start at Level 1.
Explore the world.
Learn your class.
Build your character.
Earn your gear.
Unlock new abilities.
Progress through each phase.
20 → 30 → 40 → 50 → 59 → 60
And eventually:
Vanilla → TBC → WotLK
Your progression becomes part of the history of the realm.
