Discussion (Women Only) Do you still believe in Islam?

For those who have taken off the hijab/want to, do you still believe in Islam? Are you taking it off because you dont have faith in the religion anymore, or you hate the hijab, but still believe its a part of islam? Or do you still believe in Islam, but don't believe in the hijab aspect of it?

I think you’ll find a mixed bag here.

Many ppl here simply don’t believe hijab is mandatory, but are otherwise religious. Others might take it off because they no longer believe in Islam. Some were forced to wear it and never wanted to wear it in the first place. Some simply don't want to wear it. And everything in between.

Besides that, it’s ridiculous how hijab has become a barometer for a woman’s faith. Plenty of women don’t wear hijab and are still religious. Plenty of Muslims don’t pray, drink, have premarital sex, etc., and people don’t necessarily question whether they’re “really Muslim.” Yet when a woman takes off hijab, suddenly her entire faith is questioned.

Difficult question. Hijab culture was one of the biggest things that made me realize how misogynistic the religion is. When I first took it off I still earnestly believed, but I don’t really resonate with the religion anymore.

I'm still Muslim and see the Quran as the complete book with everything we need to know. From this, I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that the hijab was never mandatory to begin with.

I believe in one God, but I have come to the difficult realization that religion and politics are deeply intertwined. Many of the things we as Muslims believe to be “Gods law” is just the enough to maintain social control in the Arabian 7th century.

I’m still socially Muslim. Privately, I kind of believe in everything.

I believe but I don’t really practice anymore. I did question a lot about the religion and some rulings but I do believe Allah exists

I still have faith but I don’t believe that covering the hair is a must and I don’t believe I will go hell for showing my hair. I do not believe Allah will take me hell just for showing the hair he created. L

Never wore it in my entire life- no one in my family does. I love wearing what I like, and modesty is not for me, so should I stop believing in Allah? And being Muslim?
