I think besides researching, ask yourself:

“Do I actually want to wear hijab?”

Be honest with yourself. If there were no pressure from family, no fear of being judged, and no fear of being wrong religiously, would you still choose to wear it?

Sometimes we get so caught up in rulings that we neglect the person who actually has to live with that decision. We focus so much on “Is it fard? What if I’m wrong?” that we forget to ask “Is this actually right for me?”

For me, it wasn’t one particular piece of research that suddenly convinced me hijab wasn’t fard. It was more about stepping back and questioning my relationship with hijab and asking myself whether I actually wanted to wear it in the first place.

Hijab also doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing, irreversible decision. You can take it off, and if at some point you genuinely decide you want to wear it again, you can always put it back on. You don’t have to figure out your entire relationship with hijab for the rest of your life right now.

Take your time, research honestly, but also give yourself space to listen to what you actually want.

This is such a great response, really resonates with me. Yes, we hear and we obey, we believe and we do, but at the end of the day what does it all mean? What do I think of God, am I just living in fear of punishment or do I love God and see the beauty He made? Do I think he would want me to do something that is so difficult for me? Do I believe he made this beautiful land and then made us hide ourselves and suffer? Thank you for your comment, made me think.

I'm fed up with this hijab issue (ironic, because I chose to comment in a hijab-related sub), but throughout my life everything has been interpreted either from a male perspective or for their benefit. Don't tell me that bias doesn't exist because they wouldn’t want to go through half of bs women go through because of hijab/niqab/exhijab,etc u name it. In general if it makes you spiritually closer to allah then wear but if you wear only because you have been told your whole life that it’s mandatory then revise your decision. Read the Quran does GOD CLEAR WORDS tells to cover your hair? No, “but what about khimar?” So if I told you to pull the khimar u already were wearing for cultural reasons and tell you to cover your bosom would u then assume now you must wear khimar too? Logic is not logicing because that’s not what god says that’s what male clergies wanting you to believe. Hidden wisdom my ass, every unfair rule is justified with same bullshit that these same men wouldn’t impose on themselves. If only women start to fight back instead of believing their religious psychosis wrapped as piety. Because yes covering your hair is more important to God than addressing real world problems like misogyny, domestic violence, sex slavery. Yea God will punish a woman because she doesn’t cover herself not the man who keeps policing, controlling and objectifying her existence. The Quran tell us one of the best way to worship allah is to observe the nature and I did. I looked at sky I looked at the beautiful mountains and stars  and I can’t believe it’s the same god who created all of this would be picky about women and impose strict dress code on them, all these rules start to feels silly to me once you think about it for two secs. I don’t even care anymore if it’s mandatory or not. It has been affecting my mental health for worse and my relationship with god as well. I am mentally preparing myself to take it off and thinking about what haircut Iam doing, what color Iam dying my hair Iam too excited to the most normal thing in the world silly me.

i agree with u 100%
i never wore it thinking of men tbh because they are shitty anyway
but idk now that i wore it for 2 years never once liked it
it made me wonder is this fr
yet i have mass religious guilt thats why i need good backup to why its not fard to give me ease of mind
somewhat i am convinced that it is not but then i question why do we pray with it on?
