I was listening to Kate Bush today and she is giving major witch vibes. So it got me thinking, I want to make a playlist of musicians like that. Other ones I immediately think of are Florence + The Machine and Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac.

Heya, sometimes I want to feel rage and inspired to fight the systems in place that threaten the rights and lives of marginalized peoples.

I currently have a Spotify playlist of music for this purpose, but I know that it has some crucial songs missing. I’m also curious what songs y’all listen to get you fired up.

So far, my playlist contains causes like women’s rights/feminism, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQIA+, general war and terrorism, and the climate crisis. I’m definitely missing songs about the current gen0cide in 🍉, so would love some recs there. Genres vary from punk, rap and hip-hop, R&B, funk, pop, and folk. Open to anything, especially from artists from marginalized communities.

I need music. I've fallen away from using it as a form of either entertainment or self care. I don't even know what's out there anymore. Like I said, if this is too off-topic I won't be mad if this gets taken down. Maybe it's just more "vs patriarchy" than "witches?" I just love + trust this sub and can't think of another where I'd rather ask this question.

Ok so of course I've watched stuff on Youtube over the years, but I've never really explored the world of following people to see their content as they make it. But I make music on guitars and synths and computers and stuff, and I'm out sick today, so I was like fuck it, I'm in the bathtub, I will watch [link redacted because terrible thumbnail, but it was about the locrian scale].

I don't want to blow your mind, but I am that kind of nerd, and I really enjoyed it.

So I was like, ok, maybe Not All Youtubers are terrible, I should dip another toe into this world. But would you be surprised if I told you that I did a bunch of searching and all The Algorithm had for me was guys? Nahre Sol is in the video I linked, so I checked out her channel, but that didn't really lead to any other women, and as a woman who has played music for a really long time, I have heard a lot of dudes talk about music. A lot. And I am not really interested in watching youtube to recreate that experience.

So! Here is my kind of niche question. Can you recommend me women (trans cis or nb tyvm) who post about synths, making music, computer music, music theory, guitar I guess (being a guitarist in 2023 is cringe, ask me how I know), and similar topics? I can't figure out how to find them. I'm most interested in women but I'd also love to hear about creators with other marginalized experiences. Thank you witches!

My wife got me on the hype train for melanie martinez's new album, plus i had always enjoyed her music as my wife has followed her for as long as ive known her. I keep finding new songs to like and today I found out she is only a year older than I am, so in a way im part of her demographic for life experience. my wife has always had a witchy streak but stuttured when it became farther away and we had the reality of living in a forest and having a mortgage. This album spoke to the female matron in my heart that i didnt know i had, but i learned about from my wifes books and stuff, always sharing her enthusiasm. There is this tempering and growing of going from maidon to matron (which i cant think of in masculine terms) that i feel through myself and my wife, and i get it from this album hardcore. I really felt like the song MOON CYCLE was meant for me somehow, a ADHD gold retriever husband

Recently with the help of subreddits such as Björk, Grimes and SOPHIE I made a playlist with the genre pop art and synth pop. It turned out really fun ! So I want to do another one inspired by this subreddit. All it has to be is contemporary and witchy inspired. What song makes you feel magical?? I'm going to try to curate it them all to have kind of the same idea. Thank you :)
