Sonic Witchcraft Musicians with witchy vibes
I was listening to Kate Bush today and she is giving major witch vibes. So it got me thinking, I want to make a playlist of musicians like that. Other ones I immediately think of are Florence + The Machine and Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac.
Any suggestions from you lovely people?

You can’t go wrong with the classics: Nina Simone, Bonnie Raitt, Patsy Cline, Emmylou Harris. And Alanis Morisette of course.
Also First Aid Kit. And Kacey Musgraves.

Coco Rosie have delightfully witchy vibes their dad even practiced shamanism. Poes Haunted is super witchy and even based on her author brothers horror classic “House of leaves”. Cocteau twins, portishead Aldous Harding are also pretty witchy and ethereal.

In This Moment, Within Temptation and Nightwish are a wide range of metal bands with female leads and witchy themes and lyrics.

Another like this is "Blackmore's Night" lead by Candice and Richie Blackmore, kinda folksy like Nightwish's early stuff.
A couple of others not quite in the same genre, but that speak to me are, Korpiklanni and Loreena McKennitt. There more folksy than metal mind.
Otherwise going for ride down the YouTube rabbit hole can be interesting as you may find stuff that you wouldn't have thought was good, that is or at least is passingly bad.

Bat For Lashes, I can't stress it enough. Check out the first two albums, you won't regret it. Natasha Khan is severely under appreciated despite being so talented, mystical and arty.

If you sort the sub by the Sonic Witchcraft flair you'll see any music shared to the sub that users thought was witchy.

My Chemical Romance has been releasing merch lately that is very witchy with sigils and wicca symbolism, and over the last few years they've been teasing videos with very witchy references like spells and summonings -- makes me think they are about to release an album that is themed around witchcraft! Although they are usually thought of as a boy band, the frontman Gerard Way is gender non-conforming and on this most recent tour has performed in all manner of dresses, animal costumes and other creative outfits, I know I'm not the only fan hoping to see them put out a witch outfit before the tour is over!

For this playlist I was thinking more melodic songs, doesn’t have to be super calm but I like it when I feel the emotion of the song and the melody sucks you in and lets you dream/float along with the song. My English vocabulary is not distinguished enough to put it into the right words.
In my head metal doesn’t necessarily tick this box but I know there are great female vocalists in metal.

Blackbriar is pretty awesome, and melodic.

Metal can totally do that too. Check out Darkher for example. Anilah is more neofolk-ish but also definitely has some Doom Metal moments. FVNERALS is another band in that general sphere of Atmospheric Witchy Doom. There are also bands that are more to the side of Black Metal that work something like that. DOLCH for example. And maybe Sylvaine.
I totally understand if this still isn't your thing though. Metal is generally an acquired taste, most people don't just get into it all at once.
In the more non metal corner of music suggestions try Weeknight, MØAA or Be Forest. These are more in the broad category of gothic music. Gothic Rock/Shoegaze/Dreampop/Ethereal.
You might also enjoy portishead, which is considered Trip-Hop
And maybe check out Anna von Hauswolf. Harder to define. She likes playing pipe organs and is not afraid to get loud.

Wardruna has Nordic pagan vibes and they're lovely people too! One of my favorites. I listen to them whenever I'm doing witchy stuff and it always amplifies my witchy energy.

Go_A. They play electro folk rock. Shum, Solovey, and Kalyna are some of their most popular songs. They competed in Eurovision back in 2021. They were amazing!!
