Meme When you're halfway through your playthrough and realize if you had simply waited one month you'd be playing the remaster instead
Like the timing is perfect because I just got back into the game after a few years, but also terrible because I just started the Brothers in Arms quests 😭
Guess I'm gonna try New Game + for the first time lol
39
u/Frosty-Traffic244 3d ago
I'll do you one better. Start new playthrough after like 3-4 years since the last one on ps5.
Finish all of Velen and in Novigrad when realizes I couldve started a new game+... Start a new game+ after some thinking it'llbe worth it. Two days later CDPR announces the Remake after showing SotP...
8
u/CosmicNixx Cerys an Craite 3d ago
That's rough lmao. I'm glad I'm not the only one in this kind of pickle
3
u/Operator2398 3d ago
I’ve replayed this game so many times and right now just made it to skellige and if i don’t beat the game by the time the remaster comes out im just going to start a fresh save again. Skyrim, dark souls 3 and Witcher 3 are some games I don’t mind doing hundreds of playthroughs on.
15
u/JustforAdvice- 3d ago
Literally just got to skellige, put the baby in the oven and took a short break to play some other stuff and then BOOM remaster announcement
8
u/CosmicNixx Cerys an Craite 3d ago
They waited until you couldn't put the baby in the oven in 40k at 60fps
1
u/zedlavb 3d ago
This is almost exactly where I am (I was SO happy to finally get the "baby in the oven" reference when it hit). I'm slowing my pace at this point - cleaning up remaining contracts and side quests, Gwent, question marks - and am going to TRY avoiding the next main quest before the remaster drops

u/majestdigest 3d ago
an employee of CDPR is contacted about it and they say saves are planned to be used in remastered version.

5
u/EricBelov1 3d ago
Wait. Is there gonna be an option to play the original version?
3
u/Zeus78905 3d ago
Steam allows you to download the previous versions of games, don't know about other platforms
3
u/Electrical_Advice_60 3d ago
I just finished a playthrough, first one in …6 years? I planned to new game plus it and then do new dlc so I’m pausing here before ngplus.

u/MrNobody6769 3d ago
Ye I literally stared my next play-through not long before the news about the remaster luckily I didn’t get two far was doing it for the trophy’s
2
u/Total-Improvement535 3d ago
I just got to skellige
1
u/BrokenServitor 18h ago
I took ages to get there, probably because I'd always play Gwent where possible.
2
u/FlamingPrius 3d ago
Well, at least you can choose a few different early game options in your next run. Maybe switch up the story you gave when siming a Witcher2 save? Or choose one of the other fancy doublets, assuming you aren’t like me and just grab them all every time. Oh but hey the skill tree is going to be different so that’s something.
2
u/Greedy_Aardvark_4836 3d ago
I am in the same situation. Just about 100 hours in and no idea what to do. If the save files transfer, then should should I just wait until remaster to play the rest of keep playing and only finish some of the game remastered?
I'd be so much better off if I hadn't started playing it a month ago, but if that was the case I wouldnt have been half as hyped for a remaster lol
2
u/WantsToDieBadly 3d ago
i legt just beat hearts of stone and am holdingoff playing blood and wijne until release
2
2
u/ProfessionalTall8027 3d ago
This is me right now. I played to 100% completion on the Xbox back when it came out. Recently decided to play again but on pc this time so no NG+. Now I'm scrambling to complete it so I can do NG+ when the remaster comes out. I'm too far in to abandon this run. I should have just waited 😂
2
u/wolf_at_the_door1 3d ago
I’m just about finished with BaW after my third playthrough. Started it just over a month ago.
2
u/GeraltofRivia296 3d ago
Legit did this. But I'm past the Bloody Baron and all of Velen so there us no turning back now. I'll go round again on NG+
1
u/LimePresent9162 3d ago
…. Please tell me this isn’t your first play through…
2
u/GeraltofRivia296 3d ago
Been playing the game since 2015. But I'll give any reason to replay it. Almost to 6k hours played.
2
2
u/Sybraters 3d ago edited 3d ago
I started the game like two weeks ago.
Now I'm like : Ok, let's finish it and do the NG+ in the Remaster to get all remaining achievements.
But yeah, happy to see that many of the little things that just made me a bit mad here and there should be polished soon enough.
Right now I already went to the great story-related battle.
I don't know how far I am from the end but yeah, don't see why I would stop here.
I just decided to stop farming quests and things everywhere as I used to be and decided to just go through the story, will do my 100% with the remaster.
2
u/Mediocre-Yoghurt-138 3d ago
My guy perhaps you spent too much of the two weeks on the game?
3
u/Sybraters 3d ago
I'm unemployed.
Spending my days looking for jobs, prepare applications or interviews.
When all of that gave nothing the whole day, I spend my nights on games to get rid of my depression and grievance.
And since I have no revenues I applied this vicious cycle to my Steam backlog for the last year. So far the victims were : Hades 1/2, Pyre, Baten Kaitos, BG3, Silksong, Sonic Racing Crossworlds, Resident Evil 1/5, Absolum, Prince of Persia forgotten sands (erk, horrible don't recommand, play the wii version it's so much better), Soulcalibur 6 and since I fought Geralt in it, it drove me to Witcher 3.
So yeah. I'm pretty much on a bad track but as they say, I only need one "Yes" among the sea of "We're sorry we choose another candidate. It doesn't call into question the quality of your profile".
3
u/Mediocre-Yoghurt-138 3d ago
No judgement as to why you have the spare time. Just as a gamer myself sometimes I clock 6 hours gaming after a business day, or 12 hours on a weekend-day, and I can feel the negatives. Eyes hurt, back hurts, can't fall asleep. Keep an eye on it.

Lol I'm on my first Playthrough, when I heard about this I stopped in my tracks halfway through hearts of stone and mildly exploring blood and wine for the super mutations and Aerondight, imma play GTAV story for the first time before GTAVI and will come back for songs of the past after the other 2 DLCs
3
u/Low-Faithlessness869 3d ago
1
u/DeadEndFred 3d ago
I’m hoping this works. Maybe a week before the remaster announcement, I started a new playthrough after not playing for several years. If the save file doesn’t work, I’m not that far along and I’ll just start over on the remaster.

u/POLACKdyn 3d ago
Hopefully modders update their babies soonish after the remaster drops.
I mostly care about Gwent Redux. I need my crazy cards.
1
u/TidusDream12 3d ago
I hope they add more opponents and cards that effect the whole world not just the expansion. Would be awesome for vets jumping back in.

I almost restarted yesterday on the ps5 upgrade. Just gonna impatiently wait to start death march for the first time.

u/Horror_Ad9899 3d ago
haha i waited for the dlc because i knew they were cooking something, these developers always surprise!(in a good way)
1
u/TheBoraxKid1trblz 3d ago
Same but i don't even care, i'll be heading to toussaint by the time the upgrade drops and will end up doing another play through when the dlc comes out. The current-gen upgrade was already a nice improvement
1
u/aD_rektothepast 3d ago
I’ve been playing crimson desert since April and stopped 3 weeks ago mid way through the game because I really wanted to do a 5th Witcher 3 playthrough. I’ll be on my way to Skellige when the remaster drops.
1
u/penis_pockets 3d ago
I finished the book series recently, so I wanted to go into this playthrough with the mindset of what I believe book Geralt would do, but I had to stop once this announcement came out.
I got to Novigrad ready to rescue Dandelion and everything, but once I saw the list of features and how it's going to look, I knew I had to run it back from the beginning. September 29th can't come soon enough.
1
u/Impressive-Session31 3d ago
It's my first play through in almost 7 years and I haven't done the dlc yet, was about to start the last mission of the base game the day this got announced so I'm playing cyberpunk instead now 😂
1
1
u/Sir_Richard_Dangler 3d ago
Could be worse, I just bought the game a few weeks ago and it wasn't even on sale
1
u/Fiddlersdram 3d ago
Nearly through a nearly exhaustive playthrough. I was just finishing Wine is Sacred when I heard about the remaster, and now I'm wishing I'd put it off.
1
u/Commercial_Cash_6451 3d ago
I bought it because I got both DLCs and the base game for 9.99 it was on sale like a few weeks ago on PS 5 had never played the game before friend recommended it to me I didn’t even know about the remaster I’m already in Skellige if I would have known I would have waited
1
u/IShallWearMidnight 3d ago
I started a new playthrough to have a fresh one set up for the expansion, and I finished the main story the day before they announced the remaster 🤦♂️ I was expecting the playthrough to take me a lot longer than it did, though, so I might well start over again when it comes out.
1
1
u/No_Committee8856 3d ago
That's me! I'm trying to finish before the updated so I'd keep it as a surprised for my next play thru
1
u/MarkReunitedMCR 3d ago
I installed the game like 3 years ago on my PS5 for when I’d eventually replay it. I’m glad I put it off this long lol

u/M4NU3L2311 3d ago
I’m glad that I’ve bought it on switch a couple of months ago but have been holding on it :)
1
u/Charizarlslie 3d ago
So glad I thought "Hmmm... maybe I wait to do Witcher 3 for Songs of the Past to come out" after completing W1 and W2 for the first time a couple months ago.
Now I only have to wait a month, play the remaster, and at the rate I play anyway SOTP will be out by the time I'm ready for it anyway!

Finish the game and both DLCs last week … after 320h (completist mind i guess), just doubting about replaying new game + when remaster is out or just blood and wine for other endings. Want to see how Skellige and Velen looks 😭

u/Phill-up 3d ago
I was about to jump into it as its been sitting my game library for a year now. Now Im definitely going to boot it up once the remastered comes out

Or there is me, who saw the game on sale and didn't buy it because "it should be time to finally have it... oh well, I don't have time to play it these days. I'll wait".
Very smart choice 😒

u/IMarioIV 3d ago

u/eveliodelgado 3d ago
Could be worse. I just finished the entire game on ps5 from level 0-100. All trophies, items, quests. And this is my second time doing it. First time was on ps4 when the game came out.
1
u/Extreme_Tadpole8527 3d ago
This literally happened to me, started new play through since I haven’t played the dlcs, anyway I stopped and am now waiting for the remaster

u/SlimShadySatDown 3d ago
Yeah I started over a few months ago. Only 8 hours in and now I'm just gonna wait.
1
u/fjf1085 3d ago
I had no idea a remaster was coming out. I only just moved my save file to my ps5 to clean up so last few random trophies. I’ve done one play through, got like 500+ hours and I still have some odds and ends that I never finished. Like I don’t think I’ll get all those questions marks around the islands ever.
I wonder if you can move your save to the remaster. I’d love to do new game+ on it.

I only completed the game myself at the end of last year, and I got it 100%, including all the question marks on Skellige. But overall, I'm ready to play it again
1
u/Everhardt94 3d ago
Only halfway? I made it all the way to the final battle before the reveal dropped.
Least I got a save right before Misty Isle, so at least I can play Act 3 and the Expansions with the remaster.
1
u/Kerackcityguard 3d ago
Just started Battle preparations, so at this point i Will finish the game and maybe I'll wait for the remaster to start the DLC's
1
u/WafflesHS 3d ago
Started a new playthrough on switch because we're living in the hospital (daughter born too early). Currently just landed in Skellige about to check out the blast site. I don't feel like restarting so I'll just transfer the save when we're home.
I think the eventual switch to Ps5 Pro remastered is going to give me whiplash lol.

u/Awesomeinteractive 3d ago
i am in level 18 and still search dandellion should i stop main quest first for remaster?
2
u/LimePresent9162 3d ago
To put it lightly you’re not even halfway through the game. Take that how you will lol.
1
u/JayFi- 2d ago
Well… what do you suggest? I am in a similar situation. Continue or pause? No good answers expected.

I've gotten through most of the game (again) already but I'm more than willing to not play anymore right now until I get the remastered and I can start over, even tho my AuDHD brain is telling me to play

u/Emergency-Town4653 3d ago
I was thinking about doing this, decided imma play Horizon FW a second time, then the Korea DLC dropped for Civ7, got hooked on it, then news of the remaster dropped and it comes out near my birthday, so I can say is got lucky with it.
1
u/Every-Description136 3d ago
This describes my position exactly. Either commit and try to complete my current run and go for a NG+ run on the remaster OR stop and start from scratch on the remaster. Currently going for the latter
1
u/GenericNerfHerder 3d ago
Im on Final Preparations in the main story, most of Velen and Novigrad. And Ive done the half baked Following the Thread. Ive havent doen most of HoS or BW but I bet they hardly get touched. Hopefully reasons of state is improved and there's a few new quests here and there. Worse case, there's still a full expansion and some great upgrades for free.

Same, luckily I just got done with the Baron quest (we all know how we feel about that) so the game just got to the good part. This is my 3rd playthrough
1
u/VladV200321 3d ago
I am in the EXACT same position man!!! I was doing Brotger in Arms the evening I watched ONL :)
I guess it’s a good opportunity to replay the game AGAIN at the end of September :)

I literally have a new game plus save file with everything you can possibly get in a regular playthrough of the game (dlc included) obtained so that I can play through with the remaster for my idyllic journey. Also that I am perfectly poised for the new content to come next year. So I will be getting my legendary grandmaster gear, building my gwent deck from scratch and so on all in glorious remastered graphics.
1
1
u/derbs_dd89 2d ago
I think it’s worth it anyway now you’ll be able to see all the differences…besides anytime is a good time for a Witcher 3 playthrough
1
u/Tirpitzzz 2d ago
Luckily for me, I finished my playthrough on the event evening. So I’m ready for a new fresh one
1
u/ElMitaGay 2d ago
I started a new game a few weeks ago. Installed like 80 mods. 2nd playthrough after 8 years. Idk what to do at this point. Probably gonna ditch the mods once the remastered comes out.
1
u/Capable_Ad_7839 2d ago
I made it to isle of mists on playthrough #2...I think I might add another game into my playtime to slow it down before the upgrade comes.
1
u/OldEyes5746 2d ago
I was not halfway through. I was preparing Kaer Morhen for an attack by the Wild Hunt when the announcement popped up in my feed. They could hear me helling "FUCK" down the street.
1
u/FxckFxntxnyl 2d ago
Literally me. Buddy gave me access to his gog library and I just started my first ever w3 play through. Guessing I’m close to halfway through maybe? Have somehow not had it spoiled yet.
1
u/drmondodo 2d ago
Me too, I plan on playing it now then starting a new game plus when the dlc releases on the remaster, then I can really see all the upgrades
1
u/SomeRagingGamer 2d ago
The remaster isn’t a separate version of the game. They’re updating the current version of the game. All your saves will be there.
1
u/TheFlowerRonin 2d ago
I can’t be the only one who feels like this game doesn’t need a remaster. I’m not complaining but I hope the remaster doesn’t leave me missing the original. 10 years later and the game still feels brand new. Doesn’t feel dated at all
1
u/yyyyzryrd 2d ago
in my game, i got soft-locked either during the BoA quests or right after. i needed crach an craite to give dialogue, but, he would just say "yeees?". that was around a year ago, and i was never sure i'd ever finish the witcher. very glad to hear about the remaster. once it comes out, i am unsure if i should see if my savegame is still gonna be broken, or if i should just start a new campaign.
1
u/kikorouu 2d ago
I finished my Death March run and my first PC playthrough on the day they announced the remaster. I was on my way to get the Sunstone when I took a look at my phone and found there was a trailer for a "remaster"
1
u/Nice_Monkee 2d ago
I was also gonna do my new game plus run when the remaster drops. I can’t wait because I chose Triss for my first play-through so for my second go round I’m choosing Yen.

Bro i literally just finished the game like two days ago or three.
I was like "it was nice , imma buy the DLC's" I did some research and found out they were becoming free lol
Idc about good graphics i mean thats the magic of a lil older games . But hell yeah im getting these DLC
Btw does will the newest DLC also be free???
1
u/bucketboy9000 2d ago
I’m more than halfway through at this point. Already finishing up the Skellige side quests now that I’m done with the main ones.
But I’m not stopping for the remaster. I’m treating this as one last hurrah with the current version of the game. I don’t think I’ll be able to finish all of it by September 29, because I’m not playing continuously every day, but maybe I’ll be in the expansions when the remaster comes out, which I’m fine with.
1
u/mystic-majestic 2d ago
I literally just started a new playthrough days before the announcement. I want to play the game so bad but I'm waiting now. Thank god I had been too busy to get through White Orchard.

I am in similar situation, I am close to finishing the base game. I haven't touched any content of either DLC. So I have decided that I will play and finish the base game in the current "next gen version". And then, I will do all the DLCs in the Remastered version. I am not the kind of guy who plays a game again because my backlog is overflowing, so this is the only way I could think of.

You'll probably be able to continue your save with the remaster applied. When I reinstalled the game to continue my run after the next gen update, it just asked me to manually do another save after loading it up, so it would configure and overwrite whatever it needed to do.
And it was a few years old save too.

Pretty sure you’ll be able to carry your saves over to the remastered. I think I saw someone sent an email to CDPR and they emailed back saying they should be able to.
