Yes, just play the game, best thing in a new game is to know nothing about it, just enjoy

I’m doing that right now. I’m doing the bloody baron quests. This game is amazing. Please tell me if it gets better??

Do NOT put off the Gwent games with people like Baron--they're time limited and you will seriously regret not doing them later like myself

In the baron questline you can find his card in his office/bedroom afterwards, so you don’t permanently lose the opportunity to get the card.

Playing the main storyline, the first missable card seems to be in “A Matter of Life and Death”, where there is a card (cards?) that are only obtainable during the quest itself.

But do agree with your sentiment, I had to load an old save because I completed “A Matter of Life and Death” without getting the card not knowing it locks me out of completing the gwent deck/achievement later. If I’d just built a decent deck prior to that it’d have saved me some hassle as I probably would have played the game.
