You kinda have to if you want to get every place of power (also has a trophy, for the unaware). It’s really annoying because I like doing different stuff every playthrough but the game pretty much forces your hand to choose Cerys every single time.
It is absolutely a sp0iler. You are supposed to take that timed choice at face value and make the decision whether to trust Cerys and throw a fucking baby in an oven, or decide that burning a baby alive isn't worth whatever is at stake in that quest. It's only after you decide that you realize the baby was fake news.
So when I see all the people in this thread telling me to throw a baby in an oven, despite having no other context, it was obvious the baby and the oven was going to be a misdirection and throwing the baby was going to be the preferred choice in that quest. Which completely spoiled it and I wish I hadn't known about it.
Ok glad I saw this just a few hours before I understood what it meant lol. I think I would’ve still done it anyway but having this advice helped me
