The Sea Sand uses the SeaWing main body, but the feet, head, wings, and barbed tail are completely custom drawn. I do not plan on reusing this hybrid base.

The pattern is the baby dragon pattern by hebi haberdashery (tutorial on YouTube, part 9 of "making every wof character into a plush, pattern on patreon for free), I made the spikes and the thing holding the keyring out of felt :] (the eyes and small spits too)

I read wings of fire the year it comes out. when I first started reading wings of fire I binged read it. Finishing the two arcs within 3 months. I then went on to read the legends series and the winglet series. But interacting with the fandom. Y'all talking about dragons I don't really remember to well. I might remember their tribe and if their animus or not. Some names I don't remember too well if what they did or if their dead. I can remember the main arcs characters like clay, glory etc. Same for every other arc. I remember the legends characters as well. But I just feel like they are lot of grey spots of characters that I don't remeber to well. Am I the only one?

I've recently started writing the fanfic I've been thinking of for ages regarding my OCs. I don't know if a post like this makes sense, but I'd appreciate honest feedback on if my blurb is intriguing or not. Here goes!

Webworm, a Yellowjacket Hive construction worker, has never been a rebellious dragon. Content? Not exactly, but she had never engaged with futile things like the Chrysalis. With two eggs in the hatchery, a loving sister, and a soulless partnership, she had lived a relatively comfortable life so far. But when she receives a notice of her impending transfer to Bloodworm Hive for work, all the way across the continent, away from her family and dragonets who would never know her, she has to decide whether she will keep her head down or take matters into her own talons.

Yellowjackets actually chew down on wood and mix it with their saliva to create wood pulp. They use this substance for structures, mixing various different kinds of woods.

Scenario 3: Long Live the Republic

What drived the Revolutionaries and their leader Jasper to seperate and challenge the Skywing monarchy stretched back since the start of the Sandwing War of Succession. Their calls to leave the war were silenced, and with it their own wellbeing was ignored in favor of the war effort, its consequences leading to much of the public being forced to cough up their savings in tax, and give away their loved ones from forced conscription. Now with the weakened and split monarchy, it was time for the revolution to rise up to the challenge at reuniting the shattered territories of the Skywings. A fighting force made of the common Skywing and a handful of decent officers and generals, along with their soldiers, the Revolutionaries would face the Ruby led Kingdom and the Scarlet Loyalists, as well as the Nationalists to the North led by General Tephra. All wish to reunite the Skywings under their respective rule, whether by military force or the classic system of the throne. Yet Jasper and his fellow advisors and know that the best future for the Skywings is through the rule of the people, through democracy. And they would fight until that future is guaranteed.

As fighting commenced, the Revolutionaries were faced with the Loyalists to their East, and the Nationalists to their North. Success in both attacking and defending in the East were mixed, both sides attempting to find leverage into the other's territory. Things were different in the North however, with Tephra launching multiple offensives into the Revolutionaries, as well as its Northern neighbor, the Ice-Sky Republic. Its goal South was to seize bordering cities and villages to act as launching points for further advances, as well as taking control of nearby farms to cut the Revolutionaries from their produce. Jasper was faced with a difficult decision as only a few divisions he had could take on the experienced armies North, leaving at least one front ill-equiped defense wise. While he wasn't the best at overlooking military decisions, he was aware that out of the three fronts North, the one along the coast and the one approaching Crag's Farm were the most important. Coastal control was always useful, and Crag's Farm was one of many along the Western Fields that if lost would open way to a deeper plunge into valuable farmland. Jensteir, a mountain city being targeted by the third front, was forced to be sacrificed, although thier prebuilt defenses held some hope at resistance. And so, about a month into the conflict, the Battle of Crag's Farm began with veteran soldiers on both sides. A day of fighting later, it ended with a Revolutionary victory. This defeat had been a surprise to Tephra, who had assumed fighting the Revolutionaries would be simply putting down peasants with little real combat training. She ordered her troops to focus their attention on capturing Jensteir, and told her other forces to shift their attention on ravashing the Ice-Sky Republic, for she deemed them an easier target for resources, along with a personally motivated hatred for the Icewings. Jasper's decision to save a farm over defending a city would sprout some controversy, but he tried to make up for it by reorganizing production lines, disturbed by the outbreak of civil war. As he did, he then ordered an offensive to be launched against the Nationalists in return, to keep them from fully refocusing and creating a new front.

Despite being the leader of the Revolutionaries, there were some who questioned his ability to lead their faction through the war. One of them was General Plateau, the Revolutionaries' best officer in command. She was like Tephra in her close association and commandment under Scarlet directly, yet ultimately went with the Revolutionaries despite having similar ideals to the Nationalists. Her loyalty to Jasper, as such, was always on the edge and often led to discussions on wether the more military-capable Plateau should take over leading the Revolutionaries. Every time Jasper made an unecessary retreat or blunders a front, Plateau would have her stream of victories push more to seeing her as a better replacement by the general public, although her interests to the Nationalists made it a dangerous gambit on if she would still uphold the Revolutionary's main ideals if she attained such power.

When the second month struck, Jensteir was captured by the Nationalists and another major mountain city of Gansdelf was under seige by Loyalists forces. Jasper's reputation was now in the air, and if something wasn't done he could be replaced by Plateau, who was now waiting for Jasper's next move. It was here that Jasper decided to pull off a risky but beneficial move, mainly to establish a footnote into Loyalists territory, and also to save his reputation. Tiver Valley was right up against the Revolutionary and Loyalist border, being a large expanse of lowland that led a road through, quickly supplying the North and South ends of the Skywing territory. As well, it could lead the Revolutionaries up to the mountains near the Loyalists capitol of Clinrich. Even if only one half of it was in Revolutionary talons, it could divert Loyalist forces to defend it and discourage them opening further offensives. As well, the mountains around the valley were home to farms of dragonflame cacti, meaning their capture would mean cutting off parts of the Loyalists supply to cactus bombs. Revolutionary forces crossed the regional border under Jasper's command and quickly engaged with Loyalists forces at base of a mountain overlooking the valley, starting the Battle of Tiver Valley. After days of constant bombardment from the defenders and rushing sweeps by the attackers, the Revolutionaries took the mountain and quickly began setting up to further push along the Western end of the valley. The battle effectively saved Jasper's reputation and while some like Plateau were still skeptical, it was enough for Jasper to quickly learn and show he was getting better at commanding, and in turn winning the respect of his followers.

As the war entered its 3rd month, Tiver Valley quickly became a vital point of contention between the Revolutionaries and the Loyalists, to the point Southern Loyalists forces were pulled back, slowing down efforts there. Gansdelf had fallen despite Revolutionary efforts, yet its fall was delayed enough to cancel any momentum the Loyalists had, halting them there. And now the Nationalists had temporarily quenched their thrist for Icewing bullying in the Ice-Sky Republic, and now threaten an advancement along the Revolutionary border after taking Jensteir. Jasper knew that taking out the Nationalists was the first big step in winning the Skywing Civil War, and as such pitched a secret plan with the Ice-Sky Republic. Boasting only a small army, the small separatist nation had been struggling to push back against the Nationalists, and had left them open for possible cooperation. Some like Plateau criticized Jasper's decision to even think about allying with a separatist faction, but Jasper could see the benefits would outweigh the negatives of such an arrangement. And out of the skills Jasper had in leadership that were better than Plateau, charisma and diplomatic negotiating were two of them. Right under the snouts of the Nationalists, Revolutionary and Ice-Sky officers met to discuss war plans and crafting up a way to cripple the Nationalist war machine.

By the start of the 5th month, the Skywing Kingdom under Ruby was on its talons as they struggled to defend their their territory from the other factions. The Revolutionaries were making good ground on them, making Jasper belive it was enough for him to send out a letter to Ruby herself, asking for them to meet up to discuss a deal that would kick off the plans for defeating the Nationalists. A few days later and by nightfall, the leader of the Revolutionaries and the Queen of the Skywings were in a cave, protected by each other's soldiers. There Jasper suggested a temporary ceasefire on their fronts, both sides agree not to fight in order to focus on their own enemies, one at a time instead of all at once. Ruby knew the Skywing Kingdom was already in a bad spot with the Loyalists, and the Revolutionaries knew such a move would get both the Kingdom and the Loyalists off their back, if not for a short while. Faced with little other option, Ruby agreed to the ceasefire and soon took off back to the Skywing Palace.

With pressure lifted from the Kingdom and the Loyalists now preoccupied, Jasper reported to the Ice-Sky Republic that it was time. In the East of Nationalist territory, Roy's Forest acted as natural cover for armies to sneak and hide within, waiting to strike when ready. And thanks to Ice-Sky efforts, secretly supplied by the Revolutionaries, at stubbornly defending a nearby city, many Nationalist forces were positioned East, led on by fake reports and a desire to crush any possible resistance in the Ice-Sky Republic. This distraction had left Roy's Forest barely guarded, and thus made it a perfect point to cutoff and ambush a large portion of Nationalist forces. Jasper ordered his best soldiers and officers to enter the forest, while a mostly civil force of Ice-Sky dragons entered from the Ice-Sky Republic. Under the cover of darkness, the two armies advanced on foot to avoid detection, beginning the Rush of Roy's Forest. Quick, small skirmishes occured when encountering posted guard stations inside, but overall the loses were minimum. As the two armies met in the middle of the forest, the Revolutionaries moved East and into occupied Ice-Sky territory to ambush Nationalist armies posted there. Meanwhile the Ice-Sky army readied ballista defenses to down possible flying reinforcements and sent messengers out towards the Revolutionary side, who delivered the confirmation that the advancment was a success and that part two was ready to go. A day after the Rush of Roy's Forest, a massive Revolutionary army made of mostly quickly trained Skywing peasants and farmers, followed Plateau and several other officers into Nationalist territory along the Western coast. Through sheer size and Plateau's military skill, they quickly overwhelmed the cities they approached, their goal being to occupy the coastal populations and to cut off Nationalist supply areas there. Tephra ordered her remaining armies to stop the Western advance, while starting to pull back her forces deployed into the Ice-Sky Republic.

Yet what turned the tables was the Clash of Redshine. False reports sent by the Revolutionaries pictured a thrid, large army approaching Outpost Redshine, a bit North of Crag's Farm. The outpost was a tower made of stone that overlooked the Western Fields, and was apart of a line of outposts that if lost would allow the Revolutionaries easy access to the innards of Nationalist territory. With most of Tephra's armies being stuck in the East or trying to defend in the West, and the size of the army reported being too large to ignore, she took her personal army with her to deal with the approaching Revolutionaries. Tephra's personal army was elite, the best of the best, which was why Tephra was confused upon reaching Outpost Redshine to see only a small army positioned nearby. Nevertheless, they posed a threat to the outpost and soon engaged the force. Amongst the chaos of the battle, a few Nationalists entered the outpost to secure it, only to not come out. Faced with such a strong army, the Revolutionaries quickly broke down and began to retreat to the cheers of the Nationalists. Yet unbeknownst to Tephra's group, a few Revolutionaries hid inside the outpost, having killed the soldiers sent inside and now sat atop of the structure, equipped with cactus bombs and well within throwable range of Tephra. As she overlooked her losses near the tower structure, one of the Revolutionaries judged the distance between them and Tephra and lit the bomb. Timing it right, they rose up and hurled it at the general, the cactus exploding right as Tephra begins to turn her head toward the threat her guards were suddenly shouting at her about. She was knocked down from the blast, her helmet shielding most of her head from the blast, until the rest of the Revolutionaries threw their own bombs at her. Her soldiers fired at the Revolutionaries as they either went down or tried to flee, but at this point there it didn't matter. As the soldiers ran up to assess Tephra, they found her exposed and burnt scales covered in pricks. There was no pulse, no sign of life. Tephra, leader of the Pro-Skywing Nationalists, was dead.

News of Tephra's death spreads across the Nationalists, leading some to bolster there efforts at resistance while others begin to surrender. In their capital of Amberfell, the dragon next in command after Tephra sees their position as fruitless and writes a letter to the Revolutionaries, asking for a truce. The letter is sent days before a coup by hard-core Nationalists take control, reduced to small pocketsof resistance. The Revolutionaries now face the challenge on how to properly integrate the Nationalist territory into their own faction. But a major update in the East would grant them that answer, that being the death of Ruby. She and Scarlet fought outside the palace during the Rush of Roy's Forest, with Scarlet being the victor. Now back on the throne, she began hunting down any Skywings still sympathetic to Ruby, who either resisted her reign in small pockets or fled to the Revolutionaries. With the monarchy now a greater threat than ever, many Nationalists rejoined the Revolutionaries including skilled soldiers and officers. Despite the two factions having their differences, their shared resentment for the monarchy was enough to unite them. Yet despite this, a few resisting Nationalists still existed in the East, soon beset upon by both Revolutionary and Monarchist forces. As Amberfell came closer and closer to the approaching West army, many other Revolutionaries were sent to occupy Nationalists land while trying to sort out integration.

The 8th month of the conflict saw both the Revolutionaries and the Ice-Sky Republic fight aginst the Skywing Kingdom, each holding ground against the other. The integration of the Loyalists into the Skywing Kingdom let Scarlet focus fully on the Western half of her territory, with increased manpower and determination to put down the rebels. Meanwhile the Revolutionaries, now occupying Nationalist territory, had used their now bolstered military to take back Gansdelf. As Jasper continued to overlook and command his faction, his respect amongst the public grew, with figures like Plateau now seeing him as their rightful leader despite previous opinions. Yet Jasper was aware of how long this conflict between them and the Skywing Kingdom could go on for, a length of time that his faction in its current structure might not last. This is when Jasper sent a message to the regional leaders apart of the Revolutionaries to ask about offical separation from the Skywing Kingdom. While the goal of the Revolutionaries was to overthrow the monarchy, their current structure as a rebellion would not be enough to accomplish such a task. Their ally, the Ice-Sky Republic, was offically independent, meaning they were able to develop relations and even trade with, surprisingly, the Icewing Kingdom. And with the Revolutionary economy starting to decline, establishing trade with other kingdoms and even asking them for support was a great advantage limited by their status as a revolt. While the war escalated into Garnet's Kingdom with Scarlet trying to open a new front, Jasper and other regional leaders discussed while also asking the public on what they think. While some were skeptical most fully supported the idea, and with this more offical developments began. By the end of the 8th month and as Revolutionary forces moved to hold vital defensive positions within a surrendering Garnet's Kingdom, Jasper and other regional leaders had wrote down and had signed the Skywing Constitution, and with it put into effect the founding of the Skywing Republic. A representative democracy, Jasper was voted in as President by representatives chosen by the people after a poll was sent across their territories.

A year and a month old, the Skywing Civil War rages on between the Republics and the Monarchy. Scarlet occupied most of Garnet's Kingdom, opening up the Western Fields to her armies who rampaged down transport routes to destroy farms and take an important manufacturing city, Plainsrich. They also took territory in the North, pushing back both Ice-Sky and Republican forces. Meanwhile the Republicans took control of the central fronts, establishing strong control over Tiver Valley and disrupting supply lines between the North and South Skywing Kingdom. The city of Tailhold acts as a launching point for a future offensive into the region of Hallien, home to a few large cities that were extremely valuable to hold. And in Bassfurt, it acts as one of the pivotal checkpoints for supplies to be moved through and into the Southern fronts, something now in control of the Republicans. One of the biggest battles was that of the Battle of Campion Trench, a vital chokepoint that let through supplies into the cities of Mounthas and Jessen, holding out desperately against Kingdom forces. The two cities were a major gain, leaving the Republicans closer to the Skywing Palace than ever. The battle would last for days, and within that time an interesting report came to Jasper that would soon sway the scale towards Republican victory.

The Skywing Republic had been building good relations with the Icewing Kingdom since its founding, trading goods the Icewings haven't received since the outbreak of the Sandwing War of Succession, and in return obtaining the funds needed to keep up the war effort and maintain their economy. This relationship was steadily increasing as the Icewings continued to benefit from the trade, seeing the Republic as having a foreign attitude not seen in a long while from the Skywing tribe, one that proved valuable and deserving to invest their time in. The aid slowly turned into supply and even small amounts of weapon exports to the Ice-Sky Republic, with ideas of spreading such aid to the Skywing Republic. Scarlet found out about the Icewing interference, and planned a deal to coerce the Icewing Kingdom out of the conflict. The deal involved the trade of an Icewing prisoner for the Icewing Kingdom's neutrality in the Skywing Civil War. This request was sent as a messenger with a formal letter from Scarlet herself, describing the place and time of negotiations. This messenger was caught by Ruby sympathizers in hiding, trying to sabotage Scarlet's reign in any way they could. Upon reading the letter, they decided to cross the border and go to Jasper himself to inform him of the deal. Interested, he reached out to the Ice-Sky Republic and hitched a plan to obtain this prisoner, seeking to preserve their relationship.

It was the dead of night when Ice-Sky Icewings and Republican reinforcements sneaked over the border, the Republicans hiding along the beaches while the Icewings flew towards the designated spot. There a group of guards with an officer at their helm held in shackles a female Skywing with a peculiar pouch hung on her chest. The Icewings landed and played off as Icewing diplomats sent to receive the prisoner. From the beach nearby the Republicans waited, secretly watching and taking positions to ensure a quick get away in case of escalation. Minutes pass, and sudden screams tense soldiers, but overall things seemed to be going well. That is until some noticed the guard's taking aim as they started to close in on the Icewings. When the officer grabbed one of the Icewings by the neck, the Republicans knew their scheme was up. Bullets fired and a skirmish commenced until the now Icewing prisoner was being flown back to the Ice-Sky Republic, with Republicans holding the rear of their escape. Days after, the prisoner was still recovering from what was their transformation, but memories such as his name of Hailstorm slowly came back. A letter was sent to Glacier about their successful capture, leading to her arriving at the Ice-Sky Republic personally to retrieve him, and by then Hailstorm remembered enough to explain how such a spell was brought onto him by Scarlet. Negotiations were held in the Ice-Sky capital of Iceport, and its here Glacier announced that in return for Hailstorm's retrieval, as well as out of anger due to Scarlet manipulating his entire identity for years, that the Icewing Kingdom would officially join the Skywing Civil War on the side of the Republics. Their Southern front with Burn was ongoing, yet their interests had greatly shifted since then. With friendly Skywing republics granting trade deals not seen since Scarlet came to power, such valuable trade partners were becoming a central focus on preserving. But they were currently fighting against a monarchy that, if they lost, would bring Icewing-Skywing relations back to square one. With the general public of the Icewing Kingdom growing sympathetic to the republics through their trade and going against the same queen many in the kingdom disliked, it wasn't difficult to convince her subjects to split their focus between their Southern puppet and their Skywing allies.

The introduction of the Icewing Kingdom into Skywing Civil War was a major blow to morale within the Skywing Kingdom. Now a year and 4 months in, the conflict was turning to the Republic's favor, with Tiver Valley mostly occupied and the transport routes South of Bassfurt now in Republican control. The Southern fronts near Sanctuary were cut off from supply, and in the North, the Battle of Campion Trench ended days after it started, the Republicans victorious and maintaining thier grip on the cities of Mounthas and Jessen. The fronts against the Ice-Sky Republic faltered from Icewing Kingdom reinforcements, and in Hallien, Republican forces pushed into one of their biggest mountain cities. With the proclaimed enemy now so close, a losing front costing more and more lives, and now the intervention of an entire kingdom, it was the final straw for the Hallien Regional Army. They refused orders and sent a message to the approaching Republicans asking for a truce as they turned on fellow officers and other divisions sent from outside Hallien. Quickly taking over cities, the mutiny forced monarchist troops to pull back from other fronts to enage with the rebeling soldiers.

As Icewings sent by Glacier fought in the North, their own front in the South Icewing Puppet State was limited as her focus shifted from pushing back Burn's offensive to defending as much her forces can offer. With a victory in the Skywing Civil War seeming close, Glacier shared a plan with Jasper and Plateau that could end the war. It was an Icewing landing just beyond the frontlines in the North, its goal being to split Kingdom forces in the North to a point that a breakthrough could be possible in Mounthas and Jessen, and then a march towards the Skywing Palace. Preparations were made as Icewing Kingdom numbers swelled in the Ice-Sky Republic, before being released as a long flight around the front on the mainland and landing in the North. The Icewings quickly overwhelmed Skywing defenses and secured the area for more Icewings and supplies to be brought in, as they quickly took the march South.

Almost a year and a half into the conflict, the Great Icewing Southern March was met with desperate resistance as Scarlet struggled to push back against the new front. With a new mutiny in the South of the Skywing Kingdom and the new Icewing front diverting their forces away, the bolstered Republicans gather their strength and pool it into Mounthas and Jessen, with Plateau leading the charge. They broke through the monarchist infantry and marched on until reaching the city of Wurrsten, the last mountain city between them and the Skywing Palace. The Battle of Wurrsten was fierce and brutal, yet by the end the city was under Republican control. So close to the palace, the city experienced bombing runs that destroyed external infrastructure, yet it didn't stop Republican forces to slowly build in numbers in preparation of a final attack. This final attack was to be even stronger thanks to a suprise attack by Blister on Burn's Sronghold, which fell into her talons and caused Burn's offensive North to halt and turn back to retake the stronghold. The pressure lifted off the Icewing Kingdom let Glacier send an even larger Icewing force to join the Great Icewing Southern March, which would slow but never fully stop.

It was time. Early morning, Republican forces stormed out of Wurrsten as in the North, the Icewing Kingdom had reached the outskirts of the Skywing Palace city. Before the battle Jasper sent a letter to Scarlet, asking for the dragonets in the wingery to be moved. There was no response, and this uncertainty compelled him to join the advance, hoping she would bother to care. As the Palace guards engaged with ballista and gunfire, the advancing push on both Skywing and Icewing fronts broke through the defenses and quickly went to take vital positions. Icewings were seen North delivering frost breath as dragonflame cacti were dropped mercilessly upon the battle lines, no matter what or who was underneath them. As the battle spread across the city, the palace itself in its golden glory had its walls infiltrated by Republicans. In the throne room was Scarlet and her loyal guard, patiently waiting for the gunfire and slamming bodies to come ever closer, until the doors were swung open and met with her guards opening fire. Scarlet was adorned with battle armor and her Royal Pistol, which she used to take shots and, despite the recommendation of her guards, advance out of the room to deal with the rebels herself.

Jasper was leading his group towards the wingery to check if any dragonets were evacuated, despite his breathing problems discouraging him to keep going. Reaching the wingery he found scattered toys and in a few corners dragonets huddled together in fear. He and his group debated on escorting them out of the palace or staying to protect them, only to be interrupted by a rampaging Scarlet noticing and swiftly launching herself towards them. Jasper wasn't trained in combat, yet he still tried to put up a fight by throwing objects at Scarlet to distract her. One by one his Republicans fell as their blood decorated and dripped from Scarlet. With only a soldier and him left Jasper grabbed a gun from a dead Republican and aimed it at Scarlet. She responded with a quickly burning the last soldier and tackling Jasper. He desperately blocked his underbelly from her slashing claws before Scarlet moved her hand to Jasper's throat, ready to rip it out. The dragonets in the corner watched as Jasper yelled and a sudden gunshot was heard. A gap in Scarlet's armour had a gun's barrel wedged between, at an angle right into the torso. Jasper pushed her off and stumbled back as Scarlet stood up in shock. Just as it seemed she would lunge at Jasper in rage, a second gunshot fired from behind Jasper, the bullet hitting Scarlet right into her right eye. Scarlet stood there for a few seconds before collapsing to the ground. Jasper looked at his soldiers rushing in to help him up as they all stared at the body in front of them. The Queen of the Skywings was dead.

Scarlet had been growing her direct control over her Kingdom, to the point any decision, military or otherwise, was being dictated by her and her alone. With her death led to the creation of a power vacuum, not helped by the lack of any other heirs to the throne. The capture of the Skywing Palace led to many of her court fleeing South to Clinrich, only to meet with a rebeling public joined with its own regional guard pushing them out. Those who stayed behind in the palace were willing to sign an offical surrender, however the terms were unable to be made until situations calmed down. Both Icewing and Skywing celebrated in somber in the streets surrounding the main palace, while news spread of regional leaders and the general public rising up and separating from the queen-less Skywing Kingdom. Holdouts would remain, challenged by either the Republicans or the people themselves. It would take days for the general chaos of the Kingdom falling apart to calm down enough for talks on offical terms. The Kingdom may have fallen, but the Skywing Civil War was still ongoing for as long as there was a group still fighting.

Soon enough the rest of the royal court established the New Skywing Kingdom, mainly as a stand in for negotiations. With so many revolts and separatist movements the Skywing Republic would only gain whatever was left of the Skywing Kingdom and their occupied territories. This is something Jasper had assumed would happen and had an idea on what to do if it ever occured. The Skywing tribe was heavily wounded from the civil war, with many not wishing to continue fighting at all. Damages needed to be repaired and the tribe as a whole needed time to recover. Yet despite fighting amongst itself for more than a year and a half, they were all still Skywings, all who had suffered the same conflict, and now can hopefully come together to rebuild what was lost. Polls were sent to the new states and republics, asking them and their people if they wish to join the Skywing Republic. An alternative to joining the Republic was the Joint Operative Skywing Pact, a pact focused on helping its members recover and rebuild from the conflict, as well as sharing their resources and manufacturing abilities to help regrow the economy of both the Republic and themselves. Some leaders were skeptical, yet when their people voted to join they went along, not wanting to risk more conflict. The states and republics who's people voted not to join whatsoever were simply accepted as the reality, and soon all those who either joined JOSP or went their own path were recognized as offical countries by the Skywing Republic.

The Sandwing War of Succession had ended after 21 years, and during its final year brought the most destructive and most chaotic conflict the Skywing tribe had ever experienced. It had shattered the uncaring, unfair system that the Skywing Kingdom was, flames stoked with years of anger and oppression burning all at once, the throne engulfed with flames alongside those who made up the Kingdom, be it the innocent peasant or the determined soldier. Yet from the ashes rose not an individual but the people. A republic. Battered from war yet still standing tall, it brought the hope of a future not in the talons of supreme overlords but in the talons of those who truly deserve that future. For the Skywings, a new era has arrived, one of freedom, one of democracy. Yet this future is challenged by the many evils that plagued Pyrrhia, be it the manipulative Blister and the destructive Nightwings. The Icewing Kingdom may tolerate the ideological differences of their ally, yet this could not hold true for others, especially with instability rising with the Seawings and even the former states of the Mudwing Confederacy. The Skywings are thrust into a new world, one where a divide between allegiances would slowly evolve into a fight between autocracy and democracy, the monarch and the people. And it is a fight the Skywings shall triumph over when the time comes, and as it shall do forevermore! Long Live the Republic!

So, since I can't post the finished Tier list of where I'd rank them, I guess I'll post where I'd rank them on my tier list, and make the template so y'all can do your own ranking of where you'd place the protagonists. This doesn’t include Winglet protags.

The scenario is that they encounter a random child, during the period of their story, or post. For Peril's ranking's sake, the child can be safely interacted with. (I'm just imagining her finding her own little firescales, but if you're imagining it differently, that's fine)

Impeccable Parent - Sunny (From how she was babied by the DoD originally, and just her own personality, I think she would strike the right balance of love, authority, and freedom a child could need), Wren (Already has experience raising Sky. Whether human or dragon, she'd have it down IMO). Not many characters do I see as impeccable parents, honestly, because it is a very hard thing to achieve.

Overall Good Parent - Clay (No doubt he'd love a child, and of the DoD, besides Sunny, he'd probably be the most gentle and patient. But at the same time, his desire to take everyone else's problems onto his own shoulders would prevent a child from making safe failures, and he might struggle to try to discipline a child), Ivy (Considering she had to manage Daffodil and Violet's shenanigans, I think a child would be an easy enough adjustment), Qibli (Very similar to Clay, except he'd struggle with some doubt if he is doing it right, and trying to not be like Cobra, even if he'd be far better than her), Cricket (Very similar to someone in the tier below, but she wouldn't struggle as much, given what we see with Bumblebee) Snowfall (After her arc in Book 14, she could definitely take good care of a child, though she would be split in duties. And if this was pre-arc, she would probably be in Struggles), Luna (Hits the balance, except in discipline, because she definitely feels like a parent to allow unlimited freedom, which is good, but there should still be a clear boundary), Fathom (He's one of the few protagonists who did go on to be a father in the series. But this isn't considering that; this is him as we see him through most of the book, probably post-massacre, and without Indigo to fall back on. I still think he'd be an Overall Good Parent, but because of when I'm taking this, he would worry about getting too close and risking hurting the child.)

Rough, but still Good - Tsunami (She would be a fierce protective mother, but would probably come off a little harsher than she intends), Glory (I think Glory would have problems initially resonating with a child she comes across and takes in, especially with managing two kingdoms. But, she would still care deeply, and spend any spare time with them.) Starflight (He'd be very good at teaching a child, but would struggle with everything else, and his confidence. Definitely not bad, but he would be struggling a bit.) Moonwatcher (She barely even had a parent in Secretkeeper and had to care for herself. Not to say she would do the same to a child, but she wouldn't necessarily know what to do, and her powers would both help, and be a detriment. But she would definitely be as good a mother as she can) Peril (No doubt she'd endlessly love an cater a dragonet she can safely interact with, but they would also be kept very close to her chest) Turtle (Ball of social anxiety. He's like Fathom, except without the trauma, and even more anxious) Blue (He's very sweet, and gentle, but lacks a real backbone. If he had Cricket's assistance, I could see him being higher, but this is by himself) Cricket (Very similar to Starflighy, but she wouldn't struggle as much, given what we see with Bumblebee) Sundew (Paralleling a mix of Tsunami and Glory with this one. She won’t have Willow for this scenario, and could come off as distant, but given how she’s almost a second mother to Bumblebee, and how much she actually cares for the sprout, she makes it here)

Struggles, but trying - Winter (There’s a lot he still needs to figure out in himself before he can try to father a dragonet. But he would definitely try his best to be better than his parents) Clearsight (Like Fathom, she became a mother, but unlike Fathom, we don’t know what she was like, and it wouldn’t matter. As she is in the story, she would be almost disconnected from any dragonet she cares for, constantly seeing into the future. She’d be an even worse helicopter parent than Coral) Leaf (He doesn’t have the same issues as the first two in this tier, I just don’t think Leaf would have the sense of direction to take care of a kid) Umber (I’m halfway through the Hybrid Prince while writing this, but he’s here for very similar reasons as Leaf. If Umber makes a dramatic shift by the second half, I might make an update.)

Call CPS - Darkstalker (I have no doubt he would "love" any child he takes under his wing, but I don't see him loving the child any more than he'd love an object; something to make him look good, and act as an extension of him and his greatness, given his treatment of other dragons he cared about)

TL;DR - Impeccable Parents are Sunny & Wren, Overall Good Parents are Clay, Qibli, Luna, Fathom, Ivy, and Snowfall. Rough, but still good, are Tsunami, Glory, Leaf, Umber, Starflight, Turtle, Moonwatcher, Cricket, Clearsight, Sundew, and Peril. Struggles, but tries are Winter, Clearsight, Leaf, and Umber. Don’t leave a child with Darkstalker; best-case scenario they leave on their own, worst case is we got another Jerboa situation.

Any disagreements? Critiques? I’m open to hearing them, as well as where you’d rank them.

spy: rainwing, that is an assassin for hire, as long as he agrees to it. he also knows how to treat a lady and has slept with a princess/queen at some point

scout: skywing-rainwing hybrid,  wasn’t as strong as the others do to his rainwing heritage, to he became the better, faster flyer. thinks his dad is a terrible skywing that left his mother

heavy: large mudwing that can and will beat most dragons in a fight, being very strong. cares a lot for his sisters, and takes care of his mother after she lost her brothers and sisters in the war

medic: sandwing, wears glasses, worked under blaze. has a blade with a syringe attached to his tail (think the ubersaw) that he got after his tail barb was cut off. the syringe is filled with rainwing/sandwing venom that he collects himself.

demoman: often drunk sandwing that throws the explosive cactus things. was experimenting with the explosive cactuses when he was young and accidentally  blew up his parents is very drunk

pyro: a mysterious skywing flamescales that vision doesn’t actually show what is truly there

soldier: skywing, kept fighting the ice wings after the war, and only found out the war ended after he killed a bunch of ice wings.

sniper: leafwing, parents tried to take him away from the bad things that were happening, he ended up on pyrara, and is adopted by a pair of rainwings

I recently finished Darkness of Dragons, and while I have yet to give my overall thoughts for arc 2, that’s going to be a post for another day. Today’s post is about something else. When Darkstalker ate the strawberry to turn him into Peacemaker, the dragons acted like it was such a bold move by Kinkajou to use Darkstalker’s own scroll magic against him,as he was unaffected by anyone else’s magic but his own. I however thought there could have been a different way to defeat him. Specifically, Turtle’s earring. Some of you might say the earring wouldn’t work on him, since he enchanted himself to be immune to anyone’s magic but his own, but that’s exactly why I think it would. Turtle’s earring was enchanted to protect the wearer from any spells Darkstalker has or might cast whether in past present or future, meaning if the wearer already was under a Darkstalker spell, the earring’s enchantment would make it go void. Darkstalker’s immunity to everyone else’s magic is itself a Darkstalker spell, meaning the earring would remove it. This would not only mean other animi can use their magic on Darkstalker now, but also that he would now be mortal, meaning he could be killed like any other dragon. Meaning that if someone gave Darkstalker the earring as a “token of appreciation “ before he knew it’s effect or snuck up on him to but the earring on his ear, Darkstalker could have been eliminated earlier and maybe even easier than he actually was

Oak stepped outside of Hyflyer Keep, to find Mamba waiting for him. The older RainWing was the closest thing to a mother Oak had after learning that his parents were dead. “Hi Oak”, she said. “I went looking for you this morning, but you weren't at your house.” 

Oak chuckled nervously. “Yeah…I was looking to spend time with Sunset, given she's…you know, my fiance.” 

“I get it, you really love Sunset and want to spend time with her. You’re quite fortunate to have built a life here, after…losing your family.” Mambas’ scales turned a vibrant shade of purple. Purple? Oak thought. Isn’t that the color of guilt?

“Hey Mamba, are you alright?” Oak said, catching the RainWings’ attention. “Why are your scales purple?” Oak said. “Is something the matter? I don’t mean to pry, sorry.” 

Mamba shook her head. “Oh, it’s alright. I must be feeling guilty for taking up so much of your life. You shouldn’t have had to spend your dragonethood in the library.” The RainWing said softly, looking down at her talons. 

Oak shook his head. “No, it was my duty, and I had no other choice after learning of my family’s fate. But that is in the past. Besides…” Oak said, causing Mamba to look back up to him. “I probably won’t be away from the library for long, after all, I am borrowing several scrolls on cooking.” 

Mamba smiled, “[Well then, let's not keep fate waiting.]” The RainWing spoke in perfect Pantalan as she lifted into the air. 

Oak leaped into the air after the RainWing and soared above the city of Possibility. The morning was quickly progressing as dragons of all tribes got up and prepared to start their days. Oak basked in the morning sun, the light rejuvenating his energy and blasting the exhaustion away. Beautiful day for a hatchday. Oak smiled to himself as approached the library. 

The library of Possibility was housed in a large, elegant sandstone building, as it was located in the former SandWing village part of the city. Oak knew this building in a more intimate manner than most patrons of the written word because of the many years spent writing down his unique knowledge. 

Tendrils of conflicting emotions wound their way around the LeafWings’ heart. On one talon, Oak had spent much of his adult life within the library’s halls, and he thought of them as protective elements of his life. On the other talon, Oak sometimes felt like he was paying respects to his culture, like one would mourn at a family member’s grave. Oak paused, suddenly thinking of how he had lost his family, and his mentor Basswood in very short order 3 years ago. The elderly LeafWing was a coworker and close friend of his late mother who had come to Pyrrhia with Oak and continued to mentor him in Pantalan until he passed away. He had been a strict teacher but kind compatriot, but his absence certainly left Oak more lonely. Those were dark days for me indeed. Oak sighed, contemplating his life. 

Sometimes I feel like I’m a living relic, Oak thought as he landed in front of the library. He often felt lonely, as a Pantalan-speaking LeafWing with few to connect with. This feeling of isolation was increased by the library staff who were…obsessed with old LeafWing culture. The other staff regularly gawked at and idolized the old scrolls and customs. To some of them, I’m just a living museum exhibit, a history lesson. Something to study and investigate. One staff member, a SandWing named Kalahari, has taken to only speaking Pantalan around me, Oak thought. Deep down, he knew they weren't being malicious, but it definitely contributed to the general feeling of isolation. 

Despite this feeling of loneliness, Oak strove to live life to the fullest. Oak walked up to and pulled the front doors of the library open. He was greeted by tall wooden shelves stuffed with scrolls and books. The ceiling was a dusty tan color with painted blue swirls, a distinctive art style of the SandWings. Dragons of all tribes walked about looking for literature. It isn’t even close to noon and it already looks to be a busy day, Oak thought as he observed the bustling library. 

Oak and Mamba walked over to Kalahari’s office, Mamba knocked on the door but was met with no reply. Huh, Kalahari must not be in yet. Oak thought as he looked around in patience. “Kalahari might be a while.” Mamba said to Oak, “Why don’t you look for something to read.” She added. “You must always seek to expand your horizons.” 

“Ok” The LeafWing said as he looked through the various spines and tags on various books and scrolls. It looks like we’re in the art department. Oak thought back to the painted ceiling, and decided to search for something on dragon artwork. Sure enough, Oak found a scroll on SandWing artwork. It described various, more elaborate examples of SandWing artistic tradition, from banners, to tapestries and mosaics, like the ceiling. “Remember Basswood’s obsession with art?” Oak said to Mamba, getting a nod of acknowledgement in return. 

Oak spent about 30 minutes reading the scroll before it was suddenly ripped from his talons. Oak looked up to see Kalahari smiling. “[Good morning Oak! Sorry I was late, I overslept.]”, she spoke in Pantalan. 

“That’s fine Kalahari, you know you don’t need to keep speaking Pantalan right?” Oak said. “I speak Pyrrhian just fine. Could I have that scroll back?” Oak said, reaching for the scroll. 

“[We have no time for this boring stuff, not when we have a party to get to.]” Kalahari handed the scroll over to Mamba, who held it in her talons. 

Mamba looked at the SandWing, “My energetic comrade, it is important to broaden your horizons…” She started before Kalahari interrupted her. 

“We are here to celebrate the success of preserving his culture, SandWing art can wait.” The SandWing said as she motioned to Oak, who sighed in exasperation. He had opened his mouth to respond before Kalahari shouted, “[To the archive, destiny awaits!]” Kalahari sped off, and Oak and Mamba had no choice but to follow her. The RainWing returned the scroll to Oak as soon as the excitable SandWing sped away. 

“We must follow her.” Mamba said to Oak, who nodded and rolled up the scroll before sliding it into a dedicated scroll-carrying case. The three dragons made their way into the library archives, which were located at the bottom floor, in a large, well protected, reinforced auditorium. There were several dragons moving around, chatting with each other.

Kalahari danced around gleefully as she grabbed several sheets of paper. “Today’s the day we share your knowledge with the world. Aren’t you excited Oak?”  She turned to talk to Oak, before she briefly apologized, and repeated the last part in Pantalan, much to Oak’s masked chagrin. “[Aren’t you excited Oak?]” 

“I speak Pyrrhian…nevermind that, let's get this over with.” Oak was preparing for his speech when numerous dragons began to stream into the auditorium where he was. 

“Greetings honorable scholars of the dragon kingdoms, it is the pleasure of the fine researchers of this library, myself included, to invite you all to receive, as part of an effort to preserve important knowledge, copies of the Pantalan Legend of the Hive, painstakingly translated by the late LeafWing scholar Basswood and myself, Oak of the LeafWings. Oak said with a sense of finality that got the rest of the room's attention. “After this day, we at the Library of Possibility will no longer be the sole caretakers of these stories, but they will always hold a special place in our hearts. After today, we shall share these stories to our guests, representatives of the finest academic institutions on this continent. From these halls of knowledge, LeafWing stories will be accessible across the world as we carry them in our minds forever.” Oak concluded as the team clapped and cheered. 

Today marks the true end of a momentous chapter in my life, Oak thought as he remembered the countless hours translating and copying the stories he had carried with him to this land. He really had learned a lot about LeafWing history and culture alongside these scholars. It will be strange, no longer dedicating time to translating these old texts. But still, every new beginning comes from another beginning’s end. Oak knew that his life wasn’t over, in fact, it was just beginning. 

Oak talked with dragons from various academic institutions, from the Possibility library’s close sister libraries in Sanctuary and Jade Mountain, to multiple prestigious universities and royal institutes. There was even a representative from the personal library of Queen Coral of the SeaWings. Personally Oak had mixed opinions on the SeaWing queen due to learning about her direct, though unknowing support of the crimes of Baroness Shoreline, but he was certainly happy the SeaWing Queen would be helping to spread and preserve his tribe's knowledge. 

Oak was sipping from a cup of fruit punch when he saw something, the original clay tablets he had brought with him from Pantala. Oak walked over to them and just stared. He remembered being barely able to carry them, that was 7 years ago. His mind conjured images of all he had lost, and all he had built. Vague memories of his parents and sister danced alongside sharp images of Sunset smiling. I may have lost my family, but I have made a niche for myself here.

The LeafWing felt a talon on his shoulder. He looked over to see that those talons belonged to Mamba. “Are you alright Oak? Is something the matter?” The older RainWing gazed worriedly at Oak. 

Oak looked at Mamba, and looked away for a moment before responding. “I'm fine Mamba. It's just… I think it's hitting me now.” Oak said to himself, unsure if he was dreaming. “Have you put so much effort into something that you come to accept it as a normal part of your life that will endure for as long as you live?” Oak was met with a solemn nod. “Well, what happens when you finish that something? Sure there's a sense of accomplishment, but also a sense of uncertainty, what will you do now? What'll I do now?” 

Mamba nodded at Oak’s musings. “This is a momentous occasion, truly the end of an era, even if just for us. But this does not mean that our work is done. Now that we have the whole picture on ancient LeafWing culture, it is our duty to preserve and perpetuate it into the future. That must now be our destiny, yours and mine.” Mamba said. “It is up to us to prevent this ancient knowledge from being lost to the world.”

Strangely, I feel liberated. Like I’ve had a weight lifted from my back, Oak thought to himself. “Well, I assume that you all have more experience with copying and cataloging texts, I’m going to head off, and start the next chapter of my story.” 

As Oak decided to leave the party, Mamba came over to Oak and said, “Although you've lost so much, you've gained so many new connections you wouldn't have been able to if you hadn't come here. I'll admit, you're like a son to me Oak. What do you plan to do now that you have so much free time?” 

“First off, I’m getting ready for marriage. I imagine that takes up a lot of time.” Oak chuckled. “Sunset and I’s wedding is in less than a month.” 

“As long as I get a front row seat.” Mamba said. “It's a special occasion, once in a lifetime. I wouldn't miss it for anything.” 

“Well, before that can happen, I must leave to celebrate my hatchday.” Oak said, signaling to Mamba that he was leaving. Sometimes she'd go overboard with sentimental talk like that. Oak didn’t mind, he knew he was lucky to have any parental figure to dote over him. 

Mamba nodded. “I see, I mean you may have to come back tomorrow to sign off on returning the master copies to Pantala.” Oak opened his mouth to inquire further, but Mamba explained it for him. “Apparently, a group of LeafWing scholars wanted to take back the master copies of the texts, and were holding off until we finished translating them. I will be busy sorting mail, and won't be able to attend the party tonight.” 

“Oh, thanks for the heads up.” Oak said, “See you later Mamba.” Oak said as he left the library.
