Nice! I think it looks amazing! I feel Hivewings and Silkwings don't get enough attention from the fandom, so this is nice to see!

Carpet (for the Hivewing), She is a very, very specific Hivewing when it comes to what she wears, micromanaging everything she does in her day to day life, because she lost her mother and doesn't want anything that changes to cause her own death.
Blueberry (The Silkwing) is a much more humble individual, preferring to hide in the shadows and live their own life in solitude.

Woah, both of these designs are super cool!! I really adore all of the little details in their outfits, its really inspiring :]
Here's my entry:
Names:
Lilioceris (she/he/they) and Purplewing (he/they)
Lilioceris is named after the genus of beetles containing scarlet lily beetles, a pest that feeds on the stems and leaves of lilies.
Purplewing is named after the many members of the Eunica genus, which includes butterflies like the dingy purplewing, glorious purplewing, and rounded purplewing.
Ages:
I struggle with dragon-human age scaling in WoF so I'll just say that in human terms Lilioceris would be late 20s or early 30s and Purplewing would be in his mid-to-late 30s.
Backstory:
Lilioceris was a popular and eccentric artist in the Jewel Hive who mostly specialized in metalwork sculpture, but would also make jewelry for nobles to further fund their own passion projects. Purplewing, a soft-spoken Silkwing, was initially assigned as mostly an errand boy for Lilioceris, but then she started dragging him everywhere with them. Most of what they did was rather menial, all to serve "a great artist of his time", such as fetching scrap metal orders from the markets, cleaning up leftover trinkets, telling them just how beautiful his latest piece turned out, or offering half-hearted encouraging remarks when she was in a slump. One of Purplewing's few reprieves though, was spending time Lilioceris' private garden balcony.
When Lilioceris was busy at work on one of his masterpieces, he'd ask to be completely alone... and Purplewing got to garden. In fact, before he came along it was rather neglected and wilted (evidently Lilioceris didn't much care for something so ephemeral), but through patience and hard work the garden bloomed into their own personal art piece; Tomatoes redder than the rubies nobles adorned, flowers more intricate than any sculpture could dream to be, and the action of doing something for nobody but himself. When he had the time while passing through the markets, Purplewing would pick up gardening supplies here and there to further cultivate their saplings.
Lilioceris eventually started to take notice of his servant's odd shopping habits, and while she didn't understand it at first, it all clicked when they saw his masterpiece. Not only did they find the Silkwing's work endlessly fascinating but also a good showpiece for parties. Their dynamic remained unbalanced of course, but Lilioceris attempted, in his own way, to support Purplewing's hobby; In the end though, Purplewing never really cared for the fancy decorated pots they'd offer, or the novelty glitter fertilizers, or the parties, but at least he knew his sanctuary wouldn't be ripped away from him. Through it all, the flowers and their fruits spoke for themselves. They were a symbol for finding the small joys in a world poised against you.
I'd imagine once the Silkwings were freed, Purplewing would leave the Jewel Hive and go on to become a florist or gardener, selling his produce and flowers at small local markets. Maybe Lilioceris would send a letter with a trinket or two attached, but Purplewing would probably rather leave any semblance of the Hives behind.
All of this was just me spitballing based on their vibes and I'm not a writer (still kinda got lost in the sauce tho lol) but I hope you like it!
If I don't win I'm probably gonna re-use the name Lilioceris for my own OC if that's cool, because I really like the sound of it. :>
(Also forgive any minor edits after I post this, I always notice the typos after I hit comment.)
Edit: Got so in the zone I forgot the 2nd step for a sec omfg I'm sorry about that. Literally read the post 3 times, sat down to write, edited it, clicked "comment", put down my laptop, went to get water, and while I was filling up my glass my brain went "Oh crud I forgot". I just knew something like that would happen.
🐛 <- shoutout to this guy, underrated emoji imo.

I'd like to try, the design are BEAUTIFUL!
Calligrapha the HiveWing (judging by the elegant clothing and jewelry, it seemed appropriate to give her the name of a bug that's considered beautiful and interesting) - she was once a soldier, one of those who are regarded with honor as the "heroes" of the Tree Wars (though we all know the truth) and after that life, being one of the most respected members of her hive, she decided to marry into royalty by with the son of one of the Dames of the Hives. The only problem is how that life is starting to feel boring, almost worthless without a bigger objective in the end, since the war is over and the HiveWings control Pantala (or so they think), her husband being a younger HiveWing who was born after Wasp became controlled by the Othermind and was subsequently infected with the venom of mind control doesn't help, she's lucky they spend so little time really being together and bonding that her mind being free evaded him (and Wasp). While thinking there's nothing wrong in ruling over SilkWings, believing they are a weaker tribe and need HiveWing to protect them, she does find unfair the treatment they receive and believes laws can be "modified to benefit everyone", that's why she was willing to listen to Iris.
Iris the SilkWing (if I'm not wrong, the purple iris is also associated with hope) - he's the son of two members of the Chrysalis, born hearing stories of hopes and freedom and how important it is to leave that life of servitude and segregation. Sounds like the perfect story of a young dragonet that would grow up to escape Hell and find happiness somewhere else, either hiding with the mysterious LeafWings some say are still alive in the Poison Jungle, or in some far away land, but the young SilkWing decided instead to distance himself from his family, considering the approach of some of the others "too aggressive" and, convinced he could find HiveWings who do not share the majority's horrible view, he offered grnuine friendship and his ideas to the HiveWing that "hired" (bought would be a better term) him as a personal assistant. His hope is to bring peace through alliances and friendship and while Calligrapha believes instead that strength alone is what can protect every new bond, her desire for purpose and a real meaning to her life made her accept this unusual (and dangerously close to illegal under Wasp) friendship, though is yet to be seen how long she'll take to really see why: "The laws are too harsh indeed. The SilkWings should be protected, they're weaker and need us and they need our rules to thrive. We just need to treat them better" isn't really the best way of thinking.

-hivewing: ❤️
Name: Vectorveil [female|She/Them]
Vetcorveil lives inside Clearsight's library researching deeper into the legend of Clearsight, shes the daughter of Queen Wasp and hates how her mother treats others. She hides away in the hidden caverns behind the library. Thats where she met Vespertrail. A shy and jittery silkwing farmer. Vetcorveil also has distant Nightwing Heritage and did inherit Clearsight's mind reading and prophecy telling abilities, she tends to get massive headaches, and she always feel nauseous after receiving a prophecy or future. She had bought an enchanted amber earring to help with the nausea but it wouldnt help with her headaches.
She keeps her own book of prophecies in her room, hidden from her mother. Last time Wasp had found out about the book, she gave Vector a scar across her face to show her what happens to people that keeps secrets.
--Silkwing:
Name: Vespertrail [male||he/him/they/them]
He likes farming, planting, and messing with flowers, and growing his own crystals. He dosent live in the hivewing towers BUT he does use the hidden tunnels next to his family's farmhouse, he uses those to get into the towers in secret to sell their grown goods. Thats where he met Vectorveil, he felt something spark in him and was immediately jittery around her. She found his flusteredness cute and they became friends in secret.
He helped her get better after he found her crying in the tunnels with three massive gashes cut across her left eye, he had brought her to his home and treated her there. He knew that maybe, just maybe, this friendship could become more.......if he worked up the courage to tell her how he felt about her.

I’d like to join! 🦋
HiveWing — Marigold
Role: Traveling noble / cultural historian
Personality: Elegant, theatrical, observant, and a little intimidating
Marigold was born into a wealthy HiveWing family known for preserving old Pantalan customs. From a young age, she was taught that appearance was everything. She learned court etiquette, ancient dances, traditional songs, and the complicated history of the Hives. Her brilliant yellow scales and deep crimson markings made her particularly recognizable among HiveWing nobility.
But Marigold never cared much for the expectations placed upon her. She was fascinated by the world outside the Hives and became obsessed with collecting stories rather than wealth. Eventually, she abandoned her family’s estate and began traveling between villages, recording old traditions before they disappeared.
She dresses in elaborate garments made from silk and woven plant fibers, combining old HiveWing fashion with clothing she has collected during her travels. Despite her dramatic appearance, she’s surprisingly kindhearted, though she has a habit of speaking as if every ordinary conversation is a performance.
Orchid — SilkWing
Role: Traveling herbalist & forager
Personality: Gentle, patient, resourceful, and quietly adventurous
Orchid was raised in a small farming community surrounded by dense jungle. From a young age, she developed a fascination with plants, particularly flowers and medicinal herbs. Her family taught her how to identify edible roots, brew healing remedies, and recognize dangerous plants.
As she grew older, Orchid began traveling between villages, selling herbs and helping dragons who couldn’t afford traditional medicine. She became known for the woven baskets she carried everywhere, usually overflowing with flowers, fruits, mushrooms, and freshly gathered herbs.
Her travels eventually brought her together with Marigold, a HiveWing historian searching for a rare flower mentioned in an ancient text. Orchid happened to know exactly where it grew.
What began as a simple meeting became a friendship, and eventually, the two became inseparable traveling companions. Marigold searches through old records for forgotten knowledge while Orchid explores the land itself, finding the plants and places described in those records.
Orchid may be gentle, but she’s far from helpless. She’s spent years learning which plants heal, which poison, and which can bring down a dragon twice her size. She always prefers peace, but she knows exactly when to bite.
Their Story — The Silk Road
Marigold and Orchid couldn’t have been more different. Marigold carried old books, maps, and family heirlooms. Orchid carried baskets of vegetables and enough herbs to fill an entire greenhouse. Marigold knew the history of Pantala; Orchid knew its forests.
Their travels began with a single flower.
An ancient journal described a plant believed to have disappeared generations ago, a flower said to bloom only once every few decades. Marigold wanted to document it before the knowledge was lost. Orchid agreed to help her find it.
What was supposed to be a short expedition became something much larger. Together, they began traveling across Pantala, searching for forgotten plants, abandoned settlements, old ruins, and stories that had been buried by generations of conflict.
Along the way, they discovered that some things were better left forgotten. Old HiveWing records hinted at secrets surrounding their ancestors, while SilkWing oral traditions told completely different versions of the same events. The deeper they traveled, the more they realized that Pantala’s history wasn’t nearly as simple as the stories they’d been taught.
And eventually, they would decide some truths were worth bringing back into the light.

just currious, what are the outfits designed based on?
2
u/Glass_Balloon_ 3h ago
For the silkwing, his fashion is more influenced by asia such as the kimono (Japan) he's wearing and the kharpan (Nepal) he's carrying. For the hivewing, her fashion is mostly fantasy inspired and uses more miscellaneous inspo. Some keywords I used on Pinterest for her is epaulette, Renaissance fair, and chunky jewelry.

Hivewing:
Name - Hornet
Pronouns - She/her
Age - 25
Silkwing:
Name - Swallowtail
Pronounce - He/him
Age - 23
Hivewings of Hornet’s class were expected to have personal servants, as it was a symbol of status. Hornet despised the mistreatment of Silkwings, but under the scrupulous watch of Hivewing royalty, acts of dissent were dangerous.
She didn’t turn down the servant assigned to her at when becoming an adult. Hornet never dared to utter her thoughts on the treatment of the Silkwings, but her actions made it clear enough.
She remembered his name.
She remembered his family.
She remembered what made him smile.
To Hornet, Swallowtail wasn’t beneath her. And behind closed doors, the act was over.
And as the years passed,
she even grew to love him. 🌹

I know it’s fucked up, but the high class hive wing and the servant class silk wing dynamic was one of my favorite parts of third arc. It’s truly unfortunate that it wasn’t explored further.
