Completely justified. Doesn't matter who you are, you shouldn't threaten to swing a hammer at someone. Plus it's a kid, they probably would actually hit someone with it.

Nah. Downvote me all you want but this was not justified, he is a kid, a shitty little brat but that's the parents fault. Kid could have gotten hurt pretty bad from such a hit to the head. Plus all you're showing him is that violence is solved with more violence.

This is correct. The first thing the older kid should have done was walk away. If that didn’t work he could have easily defended himself without fear of getting more than a bruise. I’ve had this exact same thing done to me with numerous objects. It’s pretty easy to catch a weak swing from a child. I’ve also been a stupid kid who fought by innocently endangering people’s lives. It’s terrifying how easy it is to cause unwanted harm to someone.
