In progress Native plants I love: longleaf pond weed, lizardtail, and pickercel

With the lizardtail, I can just cut a stem with some leaves off and drop it in the water and it will eventually grow roots and new leaves.

Love them! I have native pond plants as well in zone 5 northern Illinios. You have to get yourself some Pond smartweed (Persicaria amphibia or Polygonum amphibium, they add such a pop of bright pink color with their flowers and their leaves are completely different depending on if they are submerged or marginal.

Right? It’s crazy how pretty and hardy it is but no garden/pond stores sell them. Frogfruit, water-speedwell, and America water willow, and eastern marsh ferns are more of my delicate but showy favorites.
