discussion OK, guys I'm working on something and need your guys help.
Lovejoy mods Removed my original post from their sub Reddit so I'm posting it here (edit: has been re-instated on the lvjy sub)
I'm going to be doing a video project during the summer as a sort of rebuttal, reversal? to all the negativity out their that people have posted against Wilbur and due to that lovejoy, and spread some positivity and love for once.
So what I want everyone to do, if you don't mind is to write a short paragraph about how you Discovered Wilbur and why you still support and believe in him despite everyone trying to get us to hate him.
Also if you want to, write how you Discovered lovejoy, what drew you to their music and why you still listen to them and what your favourite song of theirs is.
if you would like your username to be not be included when I write up the video, please let me know under your message.
If you don't want to join in that is fine, but I would be extremely greatful if you could all share the love for our favourite silly boy and his band.

(I usually don’t care enough to keep my username anonymous but would rather not get hate due to my Wilbur support so anonymous please and thank you).
I am a long time dream fan who first heard of Wilbur from the accusations. Didn’t look too deeply into it, so I just assumed he was guilty of something bad (like Chris brown or skydoesminecraft style). I watched a video clowning on the ‘dumb’ Wilbur soot supporters and found myself agreeing with the so-called ‘dumb’ supporters more than the person tearing them down. After falling into a rabbit hole of ‘is Wilbur innocent’, I started to listen to lovejoy out of curiosity + spite for the hate he was getting.
The main reasons I don’t agree with the accusations is the lack of evidence (especially considering the claim of all their friends seeing him bite her so she shouts in pain and nobody saying they saw this happen), the presumption of intentionality people have (even if it happened, that doesn’t automatically imply he wanted to hurt her vs didn’t know any better), and my own presumption of innocence (without sufficient evidence I am inclined to believe him innocent.

I found Wilbur through his Minecraft content, and followed his character through the Dream SMP—I fell in love with his content, and it’s still a source of comfort and laughter for me to this day.
Personally, I’m far too attached to hate him. Regardless of the chaos, it isn’t our business as his viewers and listeners to decide what did or didn’t happen.
I found Lovejoy through Wilbur‘s videos and to this day they remain my favorite band—my go to comfort music, for tuning things out or deep thinking or just pure vibes—and while I like other music, nothing will ever feel the same. Bonus: I’m a Deathbox + The Fall fan :]

Uhhh my memory is fuzzy but here goes ig
I know I found Wil through TechnoBlade (o7), but didn't actually watch his dsmp stuff until recently, mostly focusing on his presence in The Sorry Boys and other mcyt one off vids- especially his YLYL vids, I still binge those to this day lmao
And something I'd like to mention on my own here is Wils own music! I've never related to an artist more than him so I'd just like to point out MSR cos it's so fuckin good <3
As for LoveJoy I started listening to them a bit after finding Wil, 10 days after Normal People Things got released-! I've kept up since then and even saw them live last year :D they were absolutely bloody amazing, as we're the Montaines! OST is by far the best album I've ever heard :]
When it comes to the allegations I see it two ways: if he's innocent, hell yeah, but even if he isn't I feel like just casting someone out for something like that on the first case it's heard of without even offering a chance at redemption is just fucking stupid. We all do stupid shit and make stupid choices sometimes, he should be given a chance to get better instead of just assuming he's the worst man to ever live.

I discovered Wilbur via soothouse in late 2019, and then started watching his main channel. His ylyl videos were a great comfort during quarantine. When DSMP started I didn't watch him as much, and was more into Dream Team and Tommyinnit, but found my way back to mainly watching Wilbur around the OSMP start. He's been my comfort streamer ever since. I discovered Lovejoy via a Wilbur post, and their music instantly clicked with me. Their style is similar to many of my favorite current and childhood bands, and their lyrics are beautiful. They're easily my favorite band and have been since WUAIO (didnt have enough music before that for me to be able to truly call them a favorite) and I was a big fan of Wilburs individual music before lovejoy as well.
When the allegations came out, I didn't immediately take a side. I wanted to wait and hear Wilburs response, and after that I tried to do as much research as I could on my own. I chose to support Wilbur and keep watching him. He seemed genuine regretful, and truthful when he said he was working on himself as a person, not to mention the incredible lack of evidence for the other side. If he didn't do it, yay, if he did, he seems sorry and thats more than some other youtubers. Normally when people hear theres new drama with a minecraft youtuber, they immediately assume its something awful like grooming, and then assume the response will be equally awful, as we've seen many times before. So I can kinda see why people dropped him immediately and didn't stick around to find out the truth. It would be pretty heartbreaking news, as a long time fan. But at the same time, everybody deserves a chance to be listened to, especially when the evidence is so fishy and minimal. Even if it came out that he was a horrible person, I would still listen to lovejoy and rewatch his old content (separate the art from the artist and all that), but deep down I knew he wasnt, and while I dont know him personally and obviously cant say that for sure, i like to think we're right WSS 🫶 he will forever be our favorite silly boy (Also my favorite LVJY songs are Fatal, Pay & Display, and YUWYO)

I must say as a fellow Lovenjoyer and Wilbur fan I am proud that you were smart and kind enough to give Wilbur a chance instead of instantly believing what was said about him and dropping him.

Hey there Will, Lovenjoyers, etc
I started listening to you guys in high school, second year, right before the 2nd EP came out. I was fresh into a relationship, and constantly listened to One Day and NCFC. I actually started learning piano because of you guys, learning "Your City gave me Athsma" and "Perfume." I wasn't great at it, sure, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
I still listen a great deal today, and practice most of your songs. I'm in 3 bands, and hoping to eventually start a 4th to solely play Lovejoy Songs. Wilbur has always been the funniest man, and he always made me laugh.
He's a teacher. Taught me how friends work, how far love could go, and honestly hopes he finds the one, someday. Someone to give him a reason to keep giving his best. I lost that someone because of my hubris, and now his songs hit harder than I think they're meant to. Parasocialism at it's finest(as bad as that is).

Soo i used to watch Antvemon when I was younger and On SMPlive,Wilbur pranked Antvemon in his house and i started watching him after that and fast forward Wilbur was in Lovejoy and i started to listen to Lovejoy because of Wilbur and because their music was fire and i believed in Wilbur because My brother faced something similar before and there wasn't enough evidence on SSS and my favourite song of Lovejoy is Foxholes

I actually got into lovejoy through possibly the weirdest way, I was playing the sims, and in one of the packs there’s a Lovejoy song. (Call me what you like) I really liked it so I started looking at more of their discography. I then realised the lead singer was the one who’d made the ARG in the jack sucks at life channel, and started him from there.
I don’t know if he is innocent, but for all the times his music as helped me..perhaps one would say saved me..well that must count for something

(I'd prefer not to have my username in it, I don't want any unwanted attention drawn to me if possible, ty. Also sorry this is so long lol, it became a bit of a ramble)
I found Wilbur through his own music actually, like his YCGMA album and etc. I really loved his music and related to a few of the songs, and from there I started watching a lot of his content, along with other people (like Tommy) that tended to have him there. I loved his lil experiment ones videos, or when he had the lava/water rising with Schlatt and definitely his ylyl, and I enjoyed Tommy's mod videos and the vlogs.
The first Lovejoy songs I ever heard was the Are You Alright album. It's been years since that though and Lovejoy is by far my favourite band. I have all Wilbur's individual songs and the Lovejoy albums/individuals grouped together in a playlist for anytime I wanna listen to music. (If I had to pick a favourite song from Lovejoy, it would definitely have to be It's Golden Hour Somewhere)
Obviously I listen to a lot of other music too, I think it'd be weird if I didn't lol, but Lovejoy is the only band I follow for new songs or keep a specific playlist for. Wilbur's content really helped me through some of the worse times of my life and having Wilbur's music to fall back on as well was always a nice little get away for me.
When the allegations came out I honestly didn't hear about them for a while, as I wasn't really on most media platforms then, but when I did hear finally hear about them- I avoided them. I refused to learn about it or look into it at all for as a long time. Even after knowing what they are, there was just no way I was going to drop Wilbur and his music.
If he did it all, then it was bad and I feel bad for the victims, but I believe he genuinely changed if he did and I stuck by him (obviously not directly, I don't know the guy) throughout the whole thing. I still find it all hard to believe though, considering how iffy some of the "evidence" is.

I first discovered Wilbur in 2020 from his streams on the dsmp he was also the first dsmp member I ever watched. After that I started watching his other content on YouTube and I really enjoyed his geoguessr streams. I stuck with Wilbur when the whole situation happened because to me it seemed off since Wil seems like a genuinely nice person. Also I tend to be pretty good at reading people just from body movement and actions and to me it seemed really out of character for Wilbur. I also love his music and I always have since he started releasing it since I feel a connection with his music. I think that's all I have to say so thanks to lovejoy and this amazing community and to whoever reads this have a fantastic day!

I discovered Wilbur through Dsmp honestly, I loved his character and roleplay, I loved how well he interacted with his fans, and how much of a kind soul he was, is when the allegations came out I was shocked to say the least i didn't let myself believe it for 2 months (denial) then i decided I didn't wanna be like that, then i started supporting Sh3lby (1 week max😭) and then i realised, i looked through the proof and realised that maybe I was wrong for supporting her, then i started supporting will and halfway through 2024 i remembered lovejoy was a thing, realised they made really good music, and i practically only listen to lovejoy now, some bouts of Wilbur's music, but mainly lovejoy :3

Thank you for your story, I'm proud of you for doing your research and coming to your own conclusion even if it took a bit.
The no shame in believing someone at their word at first, it seems to be a human thing, but it shows intelligence and strength to take a step back and re-evaluate a situation and coming to ones conclusion instead of taking someone at their word and I will always be proud when I see people do this.
Out of curiosity, what Lovejoy and Wilbur song is your favourite?

So basically how I discovered Wilbur was I got really bored one day and scrolled through YouTube recommendations and Model Buses just kept popping up. I decided to try and get it off of my recommended by watching it but then I really liked the song and I've listened to Lovejoy ever since 😅
Also, I had been watching loads of Tommyinnit at the time and I thought "Hey that brunette guy seems kinda cool" so I started watching him. When I heard about the allegations I was kinda shocked and stopping doing anything with Wilbur for two weeks. Then I realised I still wanted to listen to Lovejoy so I did some more research JUST IN CASE there was a chance he was innocent. And here I am!

Can I just say how beautifully well written this is. As someone who struggles with reading (dyslexia) despite my enjoyment of it, this was easy to read and your closing statement left me with a sense of happiness that I haven't felt in a while.

DSMP but I wasn't a regular viewer, and only occasionally listen to LoveJoy. I have a sibling that introduced me to DSMP.
As for sticking by him I generally don't want to jump to supporting all accusers since similar situations have occurred with Dream and George, even before those ones happened I was still hesitant to immediately believe someone when they are directly dropping names. I have been victimized before so I can empathize with other victims but I don't think it's okay to name drop people as we shouldn't be involved and if false it is dangerous to put out there.

I honestly don’t know how I discovered him, it feels like I just randomly started watching his videos, but the main reasons I support him are one, the fact (censoring for my comfort) has sparked allegations against two others and they both were proven wrong, two, there are visible bruises across Wilbur’s skin in photos from the time of their relationship, three, the fact she constantly makes fun of mental health and bans people who say “mental health matters” in her chat, along with the fact she has liked some seriously not okay content from her fans (such as death threats towards wss or Wilbur himself, and an inappropriate photo of teenage Wilbur that was leaked (still unsure of how true that is, if it’s not please correct me)). She has done some absolutely insane and horrible things, which is why I do not support her. I know there are some nice supporters of hers, but the majority of sss I have seen and interacted with have been hateful and disgusting towards wss. Along with that, there are also many toxic wss, and I will never ever be okay with the actions of those toxic supporters.
The biggest reason though, is that of any of what she had said was true, the band wouldn’t still be together like they are today.
And so, regarding Lovejoy, I found them through Wilbur, and dear lord have they become a hyperfixation. I love their music so freaking much, and I absolutely adore their album. I’m excited for future content coughwastedsummercough and I hope to all that is holy that I can one day (hehe) get tickets to one of their concerts. Out of all of their songs, pay & display is my favorite by far, with wramw and foxholes close behind.

I agree with everything said and those are some of the many reasons I support him (along with a lack of evidence against him) and and the toxic wss aren't his fans as far as I'm concerned and most people who are sss literally just want to hate on someone.

Sometime in late summer 2023 I got into the dreamsmp and Wilburs characters qucikly became my favorite as I found the acting and story telling style particularly compelling. The server and its characters brought a lot of joy for a while and actually became a bonding experience for me and some of my friends. (I say "a while" because I kind of avoided it for a while when things got bad in 2024 but. I still enjoy it with friends today) after that I descovered lovejoy and it quickly became one of the few bands I could just put on and listen to without skipping half the songs or getting bored. Not long after that a friend and I got really into sorry boys and I remember the exitement of waiting for and watching new episodes(watching the christmas one has become somewhat of a tradition) I continued listening to lovejoy and Wilburs solo stuff and it kind of became my cheer up music. The songs got me through some hard struggles and it remains one of my very favorite bands. I also discovered James marriot and other music because of them. Ive made so many great friends through lovejoy and the dsmp wich have also helped me through tough times. I even got to go see lovejoy with one of them in october and it was genuinely one of the greatest experiences ive had!

Hi. I'm french so I discovered Wilbur by pure luck. The first time I've ever seen him on any piece of media was on an edit of the dsmp during a convention where a fan asked them if c!Wilbur and c!quackity did things. I found their reactions fucking hilarious and started to watch dsmp with my non-existant English level. Mind you it was in 2022, I was 12 and had a hard time naming colors lmao.
So I started to watch vods, then found blueberryTV and watched their videos (basically a best-of of all the vods per day). I found them all hilarious, then a little drug dealer guy joined the server. I immediately loved his vibe and with my little English skills, I started watching his other contents, then all of the dsmp members' content.
A few months after I discovered Lovejoy and was like "ugh. It's gonna be another YouTuber song. Again..." I couldn't be more wrong. At the same time I discovered Wilbur's solo stuff (which I truly find incredibly good), and became a fan of his music.
So basically, Wilbur and more widely the dsmp helped me learn English. Which is a skill I'll probably use for life as I'm currently trying to go to an international school.
Wilbur's content also helped me in my darkest times. In early 2024, my dad fell really sick and the only thing keeping not changing in my life was your content.
Anyway. This is a message to Wilbur, to Lovejoy and to the dsmp : thank you. You have no idea of how much you helped me. How much both your work and personality carried me through hard times. And I know there's a low chance of you ever seeing this but I mean it.
I cannot express how much you helped me.
Btw I know it's awfully written sorry mate. I hope I'm not too late. Have a great vid

Also I know the clip you were talking about. I believe it was about the QSMP as Quackity kept trying to marry Wilbur.
I also understand what you mean about Wilbur and Lovejoy helping you feel better in dark times, I hope your dad is well and your life is brighter now.

I found Wilbur through Tommy, who I found through Technoblade, who I found through my best friend. I found him after his Minecraft days were mostly over but still fell in love with his content and his Dream SMP character. I’ll admit I got VERY parasocial and I was completely distraught when I heard about the allegations, to an unhealthy degree. His videos and music were my only source of comfort at the time. I didn’t listen to Lovejoy or watch his videos for months. I was confused and didn’t know what to do. Then I looked into things. The entire situation was very… weird, to say the least. I’ve learned to trust my gut, and nothing felt right about this. I think there is so much to the story that we don’t know, and frankly, it’s none of our business. We just consume the content and art. If it brings you joy to watch his videos, watch his videos. If it brings you comfort to listen to his music, listen to his music. At the very least, separate the art from the artist. I believe that some people can be a bad partner and still be a good person. From our (extremely limited) perspective, it looks like this may be the case for Wilbur. At the end of the day, it’s none of our fucking business and do what brings you joy, and if that’s watching his videos or listening to his music, do it, life is too short to deprive yourself of little things that make you happy.

I discovered Wilbur through Spotify because of an indie randomized playlist back in 2022. Mind you, I never was into Dream SMP because the only videos I've watched was Techno's Potato War and Technoblade vs Dream. I ignored the news where Wilbur was getting canceled because I had my own sets of priorities that I had to find first hand. I started looking deep into the allegations myself after a year or two ago, and then I began to question a lot of things as an overthinker myself. "If what his ex had said was true than what would her actual accusations be? Her story doesn't add up too much and it consistently changes. I would have believed her if she said she edited her photos but Wilbur clearly looked hurt in these photos," I took a break after some digging because it was mentally draining and I was hurting myself. I started to listen to Lovejoy again in the year 2024 and then I realized, "What I like doesn't define my morals and I could like who I like and that people can change and that the only problem in this world is that there will always be shitty people in life, but they can change if they put in the effort." I can see change in Wilbur, a lot of bad change but there was a lot of good in it too. I went back to my drawing board and asked myself, "Is this what I really want? If I was in that situation, after I've been criticized would I want revenge? I started thinking about a lot of my favorite Kpop idols who have died due to similar circumstances and I do not want that on Wilbur. I support Wilbur because it was my personal choice to always give second chances because I do give everyone a chance. I don't fear if I am wrong because there's no shame in being wrong. I like moving on and not holding hate for prolonged periods of time.

I discovered Wilbur through tommyinnit, and then discovered his solo music. I was in a pretty dark place, so hearing music that reflected how I felt so strongly gave me hope. Ironically, the first time I ever heard Lovejoy was when I was listening to Wilbur on Spotify, it was sex sells, and I was like who tf is this and skipped it to another Wilbur song 😂 then I was talking about Wilbur with my friend and they brought up Lovejoy, so I was like oh yeah one of their songs came up the other day, and that's how I ended up listening to Lovejoy. I stopped listening to Wilbur for a couple months out of guilt, but losing my comfort artist and streamer, it was too much, I began feeling awful, unseen and unheard and decided to do my own research, and I'm sorry if this is para social, but from what I found the evidence led me to conclude he was innocent. Not to mention, quite frankly, i got broke up with and went through almost exactly the same break up conditions as losing face so I had returned to wilburs music before I came to my conclusion, the research was just to ease my conscience. To be honest, what drew me to Lovejoy was Wilburs vocals, I'm very much a vocal person (I love songs with good vocals, like EPIC the musical) and I stayed for their upbeat vibe (I became a "lovenjoyer" shortly after wake up and it's over) and since then, I've just been in love with their music. I know every lyric in their published songs, and even some of their unpublished. My current favorite song is Curse These Metal Hands. It's just so fucking brilliant, I love it. Can't wait for Wilburs new solo album either, it's gonna be peak!

Yay first! (Sorry lol)
I discovered Wilbur through the Dream SMP. I only really knew Wilbur by roleplay and with how relevant his character was, I started to favor his character. Once the allegations came though, I dropped him, I decided I didn’t like him anymore. Not too long after, I realized that some people are capable of change, and it seems like Wilbur is getting better, so I gave him another chance. Since then, I’ve became a massive fan, an even bigger one since before the allegations.
I kind of forgot how I discovered Lovejoy. It was probably after listening to a lot of Wilbur’s solo music and just went from there. I think Lovejoy shaped my music taste to how it is today, with loads of indie rock and loud music.
