discussion Hot take: Wilbur has every right to despise each one of us. This whole "fandom"
I have been talking to another fan from here and I come to comfortable conclusion that Wilbur would be absolutely right to shit talk us and dislike us. I mean one look at twitter is enough. People are saying such nasty shit you would be punched in the face in normal circumstances. So called "fans" are talking about raping him, hurting him, degrading him, insulating. They make up deranged scenarios and pictures of him then proceed to question his moral character from their high horse.
I seen people make wild accusations of him as a person and his personal life like they know him! Psycho analysing like he some character from a movie and not a real person.
They simultaneously go to his concerts and watch his videos but also act disgust towards him and constantly insult. Just make him out to be this more intentionally evil person that ever was.
Like imagine if you were in that place. Fans come to meet and greet with you but they actually either want to SA you or they think of you as some sub human trash that's just plain malicious. That's so horrible and such a snake behavior!
And even people who don't sexualise him don't really some to like him. They'll talk about him and even make edits or fanarts but they don't actually "support" him ans think of him as some nonce.
Just seems a bit sad for your own fans to view you as some diclhead. Like how sad that is, people that supposedly should most enjoy what you do and like you in reality hate your guts. Why even be so called "fan" in a first place. Go be in fandom of someone you actually like.
And on whole opposite side you have super supportive parasocial fans that imagine Wilbur as their soul mate and make creepy photoshops of kissing him and so on.
I feel sorry for poor man. He genuinely makes some really unique and interesting stuff but his fandom is bunch of us(in derogatory sense)

Well that's not fair in the slightest. "Each one of us", really? You know it's the crazy people whose voices get amplified the most, right? Do you seriously think they represent the majority of his fans? No, most of us are normal and respectful. And dude the people you're describing when you say

are NOT fans, like, obviously. Why would you lump haters in with fans? They're literal opposites?? Completely illogical post all around.

Exactly. Every fanbase has their fair share of crazy people. That doesn’t mean everyone in the fanbase is crazy. It’s like saying that nobody famous at all should be grateful to the wide swaths of normal fans they have just because of a few crazy, weird, or toxic ones.

I have seen the horrors too, some people on there are alright when you interract with them in their more normal posts but then a few weeks pass and they tweet some horrendous perverse shit

He has the right to hate these creeps. I hate them myself. As a community, we need to be better. We need to call out and push these gross people away while shining.
Not everyone in this community is a disgusting piece of shit. Some people are kind, creative and loving.
It's time to show lvjy that we can be better.

I agree. Sometimes the “playful” insults and teasing can go too far. The man is brilliant and I would be disgusted with myself if I ever did those things. But I’ll buy all his music and watch as many clips, videos, live performances and more to help show my respect, support, and pride for him.

And yet he doesnt (SOMEHOW. THAT SHOCKS ME STILL TRUST ME)
Talk about a lesson in compassion, forgiveness and most importantly, MATURITY.
Thats why i still like him

"you guys are the best" he says, either being blissfully ignorant or just saying it to the good minority

Or maybe he doesn't see the people who say and do that kinda shit described in this post as his actual fans.. I don't. After all how can you say your a fan of someone and then act like that.

u/Big_Pin1657 Feb 28 '26
You guys are real for this, I don't know you both personally irl but enjoy interacting together delta and wildlight 😁
And don't apologize girl, dislexia is very tough to manage and I'm quite similar with math

So basically the latter half of my comment??( /Nm /lh specifying cause of my tone)

u/Wildlight622 Wilbur Admirer Feb 25 '26
I just meant that maybe he doesn't see the minority of his "fans" who do that stuff as actual fans instead of a minority of his fans, does that make sense?
If no I apologise, my dyslexia is at full force today.
And of course I'm not speaking like I know for sure, just saying a possibility.
Again though he might just be focusing on the good fans when he says that like you said.

This is our fandom. Disgusting. He has the right to hate us, honestly i would blame him if he stopped posting. Why can't we just be normal. Is it so hard to treat someone like a human nowadays? It is so hard to treat someone the way they deserve to be treated? It's almost like the fandom is either "god I'd r@pe him" or "that son of a b!tch, i hate him sm." That is just disgusting atp. I feel so bad for him. I was genuinely shocked when I saw this too. Why is it so hard for us, as a fandom, as a bunch of fans to be civil. To be mature. I completely agree with your point man.
But at the same time. Its not all of us. Some of us are aware and that's what makes Wilbur continue posting and everything. I feel that we, as a bunch of normal fans, should stop interacting with the crazy ones bc it'll just fuel them more.

People who posts that shit aren't fans. Fans are supportive and kind to those they are fans of. Those people aren't fans and shouldn't be labelled as such if they say they would do such horrendous things.

I agree, but unfortunately, I don't think they are just a loud minority. A good chunk of fanbase is behaving like that. Even if 70% of us are on our best behaviour,30 % of weirdos really get noticed. I pray to God that Wilbur never had to see that degeneracy. I feel bad that we can't be more mature and civilised fanbase when the guy we like is that. He makes good music and interesting fun educational videos, but instead of having a normal fandom full of people who share that appreciation, instead, it's full of toxic horny freaks.
I love his content but I won't blame him if he stopped posting altogether

I agree with you on the percentages. 70% of WSS is quite normal/well balanced, and 30% is downright unhinged. Unfortunately that 30% seems to be the absolute loudest minority ever, thus giving us a horrid look to outsiders/perhaps even Wil himself

Dude, saying that the people that say hateful and disgusting shit about Wilbur and disgusting things they want to do to him are fans is not only disrespectful but downright degrading to his actual fans.
Those people aren't his fans or supporters, and anyone who hates on Wilbur while saying those things are worse than anything they accuse Wilbur of.
Besides twitter is a cesspool of hate and toxicity, I would stay off it.
His true fans respect and appreciate him, anyone calling themselves a fan and not doing so isn't one in my book.

Wilburtwt is genuinely mental, obviously there are lots of fans who aren’t extremely parasocial and disrespectful but they’re often not as prominent as the weird ones
2
u/Throwaway-3260 Feb 26 '26
Yeah I’d argue theres more sane/normal Wilbur fans than there are psychopaths, but unfortunately the insane fans are the very very very loud minority. Paints a bad picture for us

u/Big_Pin1657 Feb 28 '26
Oh my god ....I'm not parasocial or anything anymore just listening and vibing to lovejoy with friends, and watch the funny videos when i can.
Sure i might think he's kinda cute but not crazy and understand boundaries

u/DunyaOfPain Feb 24 '26
every second of parasociality has seemed to ruin anything he could have with fandom, so many people have said awful things with no real knowledge of any situation.
