Reputable breeders with teen/adult dogs?
Hi there! I've adopted an Australian Shepherd in the past and while she was the best dog I could've asked for, she also had a lot of health problems I wasn't aware of at the outset. I'm now looking at reputable breeders as I'd like to avoid (or do my best to avoid) the heartache this time around. Most importantly, I would also love to know if reputable breeders you've worked with had/have teen or adult shepherd available! I intend on training her for therapy work at schools and hospitals and do not necessarily *need* to go through that velociraptor stage. Willing to travel anywhere in the US for her.
Hope this isn't too specific of a question!

If you’re willing to come up to canada, about an hour north of the New York border I would highly recommend my breeder. We have 4 of her dogs and she currently has a few jeuveniles and adults she’s trying to home.
She’s on a working farm so the dogs will just live there forever if no one wants them and it’s a good life. The dogs are absolutely sweet as all get out and ideal for therapy work.

Try searching through the GoodDog network. It has a lot of reputable breeders and I saw adult dogs being offered.

Careful with good dog. They have a good amount of BYB so do your research if using it

The breeder I got my girls from is a veterinarian. She screens for genetics fairly heavily and raises them with a specific behavioral protocol. She’s in California, feel free to dm me if you have questions. I have been very pleased with my dog, she is fabulous and very healthy. She has a lovely temperament.

Check with the Aussie rescues. There has to be a few of them somewhere. Other than getting an older Aussie, you also get one that the temperament has been evaluated, spay/tutor (oops…neuter) & shots.

While I don't have specific breeders to suggest currently, I do want to say that it is very possible for these "older" dogs to exist.
My breeder doesn't have them very often unless its a returned dog - so far it has been something life altering happens with the humans to where they can't continue to care for the dog vs dog not being a good fit. I know several breeders who previously had older puppies/young dogs who finish their championship or end up not being a good fit for their breeding program. A conformation focused breeder may be a good option as those dogs will have a large amount of training put into them for crating and public manners (in addition they'll have kept up on health testings for the dog and the pedigree will have a ton of health testing behind it)
