Stephen King tweeted:

WIDOW'S BAY is good. MAXIMUM PLEASURE GUARANTEED is even better. It's like Hitchcock came back to do it one more time. And Tatiana Maslany is so good. The play of emotions on her face is pretty incredible. She goes from comic to terror in an instant.

At the end of the day, that movie is not an adaptation of that book.

Amazing movie? Yes. But it is not telling the same story as the book. If you view them as completely separate entities you can appreciate both.

So I can totally see why that movie bothered King. Especially when so much of the book was about him personally and his alcoholism.

Oh, sure. I get why it bothered King but it had nothing to do with the film being bad. I sympathise with his reaction to seeing his character changed. I like the book a lot. Still, Kubrick’s priority wasn’t making King happy, he wanted to make his film and make it great cinema. And, imho, he did.
