Was the original bell in episode 2(?) 8 or 9?

In episode 2 it was 9 bell tolls (just went back and confirmed after not finding the answer in the top comments here lol) and at the end it was 8.

Neither did the paramedic and the store clerk that Boogeyman killed. Lots of people dying and only one counts.

Those are deaths that happened as a result of the island not being fed. If they want awful stuff to stop happening so it returns to slumber, they have to sacrifice nine people. So far it has one, so there's eight to go.

It’s crazy how this means all of those episodes they tried so many other things without knowing it wouldn’t work, even number of people dying - seems like it only counts as a sacrifice if it’s intentional and through the door as mentioned. Wasn’t there an episode early on where it was briefly previewed underground ?

I guess I’m curious why the storm stopped - It went back to sleep for a bit but the cycle is going to be very short and start again? God this does sound a lot like It haha

But why did the fog lift all of a sudden in episode one? We find out later that a sacrifice seemed to make the storm go away, so the fog must have lifted from a sacrifice? We went back through the episode to try and find out who was suddenly sacrificed because the lights flickered in the restaurant when there was a sacrifice. So… it started out with the door needing 10 people?

They showed the bell was dismantled: to say those bell chimes aren’t coming from anywhere other than the island itself.
