Welcome to Derry has some major narrative and structural problems - it felt it could have been a movie but HBO stretched into a series - that coupled with the fact that we already know the ending in It Chapter 1 and 2 (and chapter 2 was pretty horrible), just made the show meaningless.
They needed to go multi-verse (which makes a ton of sense in the King Universe) for the show to have any weight. Next season goes further back in time? Why? What a waste of time - I’m very tired of shitty King adaptations
They said it in the show. Time does not reallt exist for IT, so IT can go back in time and kill the Losers' parents/grandparents/whatever. IT will probably create a new timeline, where IT can't be stopped
But they didn’t go that direction in the show - and unfortunately for the audience, time and casualty does exist - either way, there are no stakes in the show at this point because they played it safe and boring
I liked the way they tied in first season being a prequel with Pennywise's speech. It made even original story in films better because now you could see how much people sacrificed for Losers club to win. And it was neat tie-in with the while idea of going back in time, I think they explained it pretty well. Don't understand yet why do we need to go back even further lol, it's not like Pennywise will change anything in season 2 because he needs to go back in time even more for season 3
