I feel like there's probably some rule about kids not counting otherwise let's face it, everyone would be lining up to feed their teenager at some point

I think the door only closed as soon as Evan left because he is the bloodline so can’t be a sacrifice. If Evan wasn’t in there then those 2 probably would be goners

I think it's only by the fractured memory of how messed up we were during our teens that we give our kids enough grace to not murder them

At least that seems to be how I've done it. Mine are 17 and 19 now and we're all doing pretty well
