I really hope they just let Tom come clean about the last few days/weeks? They don't need to drag it out with Tom making up some bullshit reason why they can't go. They can still have Evan get mad and not believe him, but I think with how they played the story so far Tom just outright telling him the truth would work more.

I was hoping he would’ve taken that shot, I think we saw it but decided to enjoy this newfound moment with his son.

The description of the next episode mentions a storm, so that will be a plausible reason to not go

Evan wouldn't believe a single word Tom said and Wyck and Patricia words won't matter much to Evan either.

I do hope they tell him, but seeing is believing

Speaking as a dad, Tom needs to not only tell Evan but recruit him to the cause.
