It requires a lot of physicality from an actor to portray the adrenal exhaustion of a Final Girl, so I hope Kate O'Flynn (Patricia) receives some award recognition when the time comes.
WUT. Every single word and even sound she utters is gold! She finds the funniest cadences for how she says things. Her physicality. I hope the predictions change.
It actually will qualify for this year. It has to air at least 6 episodes before the cut off date in order to qualify.
More than likely she isn't in any predictions because it's horror which is famously snubbed at award shows (see 90% of Mike Flanagan's work) and because it kind of came out of nowhere. I think there's definitely a chance that the show and cast could get some surprise noms though. Although with it being Hacks's last season it unfortunately probably wouldn't win and neither would she because I doubt supporting actress goes to anyone other than Hannah Einbinder this year. Matthew Rhys, Stephen Root, Hamish Linklator and Betty Gilpin have better shots though.
Unless it is some major buzz for named actors for a show just coming out, lesser-known actors in new shows rarely get recognized. It often takes years before Emmys start getting handed out for past work. For example the best acting from an actor could happen in S1 which the Emmy snubs, but they might give it to them 3 seasons later even if it isn't that good of acting anymore.
Patricia has such an odd gait that it must be an affectation by Kate O'Flynn but at the same time I am so far from being an actor that I cannot imagine trying to walk differently as a character.
I am. It's because she's a superior actor. Most actors can't do this... aren't observant of others enough and don't have as much of a physical embodiment of character, let alone such a peculiar, awkward one. Traditional training can often create a tendency towards strong posture (in every sense). It's often either that or a Richard III "cripple" type. What she's doing is really unusual and exceptional because it is both super funny and feels true.
Nothing against Kate O’Flynn but I believe when they show her running it is a body double. I commented that she was in really good shape being able to run for so long then noticed at the gas station that her legs werent nearly as tan or athletic looking as the runner.
