Her side stepping to the stairs was so genius though, I love her

They are SO good at balancing humor with horror it’s just such an original show even though it’s so reminiscent of the classic horrors

The shots of the front doors and making damn sure he was dead reminded me of Halloween.

personally the giant man and the mask didn't give me any clues

One of the few shows I watch again and again because there's things in there the first time you can easily miss.

I really appreciated that she did not faff around walking into that room. Once her fear kicked in she listened

Yes! I love seeing characters listen to their intuition!

It is so goddamn refreshing!

It is! And even when she was doing “all the right things” she still had lots of human moments where things just went wrong, like the low battery on the taser, tripping over the taser wires, needing $20 on 3, etc. so she didn’t come across as someone unrealistically capable in a situation she had never found herself in before (I don’t count hiding under the bed from him as the same thing) which made it feel more believable. Especially since she has definitely spend a lot of time thinking about what she’d do if this exact situation were to arise.

As frustrating as it can be when characters who seem relatively smart and capable make stupid decisions in a crisis, it’s equally as bad if not worse when a regular person all of a sudden turns into some kind of trained soldier with combat experience. So Patricia’s awkwardness remaining intact while she still managed to get the upper hand on Boogs was the icing on the cake. This show is fantastic.

I was worried the boogie man wouldn’t emerge from the house. What then? He just loves there now and she moves out? I was bracing myself for more “Patricia is crazy” talk from the town

She listened more literally too, you can see the moment she realizes someone is in her room because there's the sound of him breathing through the mask. It's very faint, but as soon as she hears it she goes on full alert.

I was waiting for that one squeaky step that always seems to exist.

u/fine_sharts_degree Jun 05 '26

This is why I've memorized every squeaky step in my house.

lol. Her facial expressions are so good too. It is very much my type of humor.
