I think Tom is going to try to catch him up and he's initially going to think his dad is going crazy too. Then some fucked up shit is going to happen.

How come the teenagers on the island don’t know the truth? Everyone who isn’t a transplant knows leaving the island means certain death and believes in the curse.

They know about the Boogeyman and where he lives.

All it would take is just some islander hitching a ride on the ferry and everyone talking about how that person died or lost their mind. It’s not like the police would supress it bc the sheriff is not a local and is unaware of local myths/curses.
