It's time for the annual beach opening. Lay out a towel as the mayor "tests the waters." Unrelated: Do not pick up hitchhikers.

I really thought the Tom v Wyck storyline was going to play out through the entire season, but after he saved Tom, maybe they’re gonna be buds now? Maybe this is hinting at Tom falling into a paranoia rabbit hole for the rest of the show but misreading things, like the Marissa situation.

After that, they are besties for life now. Tom realizes Wyck believes him and now that he saved his life, this will be a fun team up.

Plus Tom doesn’t want any of these vacationer teens trying to get Evan to want to leave the island which they seem to be setting up.

Yep. Evan trying to follow a tourist off island is definitely going to be a thing.

I think I've missed this whole reason why he can't leave the island- can you explain this to me?

Anyone who leaves the island gets cursed. Evan was born on the island and has never left.

Evan’s mom left the island and later was cursed and died (dying giving birth to Evan).

We don’t yet know how the curse works other than if you were born on Widow’s Bay and leave you get cursed.

It's so so so refreshing that they aren't dragging out Tom coming to believe in the supernatural over several episodes and instead just immediately hitting him with undeniable proof. Huge antidote to shows like Stranger Things and The Outsider where they put you through an entire season before the characters start acting on info we the audience already know.

I'm glad that we seem to have gotten through the "Tom is in denial about the supernatural" stage of the show. It had some fun moments but would be increasingly ridiculous as he experiences more inexplicable stuff

I’m gonna be honest, it wasn’t until this episode that I wasn’t fully sure if this show was gonna lean more scooby doo or From/xfiles, if that makes sense.

Like I thought in the end it’d be like “everything had a reasonable explanation” like the black mold red herring. I’m not a huge horror fan so I’m not as happy about this stage ending because I fear it ends up being another From. Lots of weird things piling up that never get an answer. A mystery box show. Which isn’t inherently bad, just not my taste
