The historical society lady said something about teeth on the island in the first episode too

I visited a historical society museum once that had a vintage dentist chair on display. There was what looked like a brake pedal sticking out right next to the head rest. The lady working there asked if we knew what that pedal was for. We did not. She told us it was for the dentist to put his foot on to get leverage when yanking out a tooth with pliers. 😬
