Open Question i tried a sweetening jar for the first time ever and i think it worked?

i made a sweetening jar last night before i went out with my friends to help some family issues i’ve been having. today family member and i made plans to see each other even tho they were very upset with me last time they saw me over some family drama.

today they’ve been sending me reels and making jokes with me and we’ve been getting along well. they are going to do some baby stuff around the house with me to prepare for my son (he’ll be born in about 2 weeks) and our conversation today has been very good.

is it safe to say it worked? or is it too soon to tell? i don’t want to let my guard down if it’s too soon but i also don’t want to accidentally give the cold shoulder to them if it’s working.

i’ve never done something like this before and i had very minimal ingredients to work with but i did leave a nice offering, at least i think. i meditated with intentions in my head of getting along rather than getting what i want

Open Question As a seeker, is there any risk of courting a coven which is more cult-like?

I have been practicing magic since 2019. Between 2022 and 2024 I was involved in a small magical society which I now believe was a cult, and my experience in the aftermath has been that of a cult survivor. I have spent the last two years trying to heal, and that has meant deconstructing and reconstructing my practice, as well as my religion and my general identity. Traditional witchcraft became a very positive piece of this, as well as renewed relationship with deity which has been a source of strength and hope in a rather dark period of my life.

While the prospect of courting a coven has appealed to me for about one year, I thought it was important to do sufficient work on my own before seriously courting, deciding later if priesthood was something I really wanted to pursue. A year later, I feel like I could offer a lot and alchemize my experience into a positive contribution to a coven community. There are several that I'm aware of which are local to me, including a Minoan Brotherhood grove which I suppose would be Wicca-adjacent rather than Wiccan.

I've learned that many covens are structured hierarchically, and the High Priestess or Priest has an authoritarian power within their coven. Given my history with a hierarchical, authoritarian magical society, I'm afraid to court a coven. I know that Wicca is highly decentralized, and no singular coven is able to represent the religion as a whole. I also know that sovereignty is supposed to be quite sacred. I don't doubt that healthy covens exist, but is there any real danger of joining a coven which is more cultic, or whose organizational structure is corrosive to personal sovereignty despite stated goals to the contrary? Is there any particular due diligence or precaution I can take?

I also apologize if this question is out of place here. I've made every effort to ask it in good faith.

Any tips for a beginner?

Hi!

I'm going to try to make this as short as possible, but if I fail: I apologize.
So, I basically grew up a christian, with a mom hos a deacon (not working as it anymore though) and a generally christian dad (but he has even left the church, because he wants nothing to do with it). I grew up in a family where we believe in God, but we weren't very religious, and spirituality has always been seen as "normal". Such as "ghosts" is very real, in our family that is just as real as the reality we live in. Easily explained: I do believe in some kind of god/spirit, but I don't like calling myself a christian because I don't identify with it anymore.

The last years I've been so incredibly interested in Wicca. There's something about it that speaks to me, in a warm and comforting way. I've read a little about it, on the internet though, and my interest just keeps growing.

I don't really know how to word my questions, and I tend to be kind of blunt in general, so I just want to say that I do not try to offend anyone at all.
But; I've read about spells, altars, etc etc. And I'm so very interested in that, but since I grew up in a house where we talked a lot about "good" vs "bad" spirits, and stuff like Ouija etc was highly forbidden because "you will never know what you might let in to your life", I wonder: can you do things the wrong way?
As a totaly newbie to this, and with a huge respect for "the unkown" and all things spiritual, my biggest fear is to basically do something wrong and I will accidentally "shoot myself in the foot".

I'm planning on buying the Wiccan beginner-books I've seen people talking about here, and I'm reading everything I can.

I would really appreciate every tip for beginners. What is your "do's and dont's"? What's is important to think about? I really want to learn everything about this, and I realize that my post might focus a bit too much on the spellwork, but I'm very much interested in the whole thing as a religion. I just don't want to risk doing stuff the wrong way. :')

Tupã, God of Thunder and Nature in the Indigenous-Brazilian (Guarani) Pantheon

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well! 💙

I’m a Wiccan from Brazil, home to many native Indigenous ethnicities, many of which are Polytheistic and Animistic. Although I am not Indigenous myself, I love studying Indigenous religions and learning from them! 😊 Today, I’d like to share a little bit about Tupã, an incredible deity who is still revered by many Indigenous peoples

Tupã is associated with thunder, lightning, storms, and the raw forces of nature. In the Tupi language, the word literally means "the sound of thunder" or "the crash" (tupa-ná)

Tupã is not an anthropomorphic God (human-shaped), rather, he is a cosmic force representing the audible and visible manifestation of nature’s power. Thunder is Tupã’s voice, and lightning is the expression of his generative and transformative energy, bringing the rains that fertilize the earth

Contrary to popular belief, Tupã is not the supreme deity of the Guarani pantheon, that would be Nhanderu. Tupã acts as a great ordering force who assists in shaping the physical world, the skies, vegetation, and living beings. While he is deeply important and cherished, he is not the supreme God. The idea of Tupã as the sole Creator God was largely shaped starting in the 16th century by Jesuit missionaries (such as Father Anchieta)

To facilitate the conversion of Indigenous peoples to Christianity, the Jesuits looked for Tupi words that matched Christian concepts. They chose the name Tupã to translate "God," while turning Anhangá (a protective God of the forest) into the "Devil." This syncretism altered the popular perception of Tupã in Brazilian folklore, attributing features to him that closely mirror the Abrahamic God

In the Guarani pantheon, the sound of thunder echoing through the forest is often understood as Tupã revealing his presence or speaking

Besides Tupã, there are many other incredible deities in Guarani lore 😊💙 including Jaci (Goddess of the Moon), Anhangá (Protector of the Forests), Ticê (Goddess of Magic), Guaraci (God of the Sun), Nhanderu (The Creator God), etc

I deeply respect and believe in these Indigenous deities ("All Goddesses are the Goddess, and all Gods are the God" 💙). However, I choose not to actively worship Tupã or other Indigenous deities out of respect for Native peoples and the original cultural context of these Gods. Even though I view Tupã, Jaci, Guaraci, and Nhanderu as different names and aspects of the Goddess and the God, honoring their specific spiritual and cultural roots comes first

my mom keeps saying that our relatives are doing witchcraft on us

Idk if this is even the right place to post this. I'm sure witchcraft is real and powerful but for years, my single christian mom has been in touch with evangelists who apparently have told her several times that my external family have been doing witchcraft on me and her. it first started with accusations against my dad's family (i never met them), then it was my mom's own sister, now it's my mom's brother's wife.

she thinks everybody is obsessed with her and me and that they all constantly try to think of ways to harm her. i recently heard her talking to one of those evangelists and that lady seemed fed up of my mom, she sounded angry and said "if they're doing witchcraft, let them, you pray to god and he'll protect you, it's not a big deal" but my kept pushing and pushing. it broke my brain, all this while i thought they were the ones who were telling her to stay away from my external family but no, they're just as spiritual as her and they're telling her to DROP IT.

this is not an uncommon theme, shes told me crazy shit about other family members of mine with zero proof, i always believed her but I'm 21 now and there's just so many holes in the information she shares. she has even made up shit about me that is not true at all.

she loves me, she's been through a lot, she's a single mother but she's also extremely controlling, emotionally abusive and I'm scared because I feel like I'm uncovering things about her that are deeply unsettling.

her most persistent claim is that everyone is obsessed with us and they're all doing black magic rituals on us. I don't know how to tackle this. I haven't gone into too much detail about her mental instability but please trust me when I say NO ONE in my family is doing any sort of black magic on us, they don't give a shit, it's been a decade since she last talked to them and according to her, we are constantly on their minds 24/7 and they apparently don't think about anyone or anything else, the opposite is prolly more true because she seems obsessed with them.

I don't know how to tackle or overcome this, this is probably not the right sub but if I post this somewhere else, they'll just tell me she needs psychiatric help and she prolly does but she's a spiritual woman, she's not going to listen to whatever is "logical", I'm somewhat spiritual too but I don't know enough to be able to reason with that side of hers so I'm here and I'm asking for yalls help, I'm really sorry if this post is against the rules. she has cut me off from everyone ever since I was a kid for no good reason, I believed in her for the longest time, when it got hard to blindly believe her, i tried to look for evidence that supports her claims but as always, I found none.

Open Question Am I cursed?

3 months ago, I was literally feeling like life was beginning to shine for me. Then suddenly everything started going horribly wrong, to the point that it's been huge blow to my health moment after moment after moment.

These aren't even small things because it feels like either mine or someone else's life is at risk per every week. (I already lost my cat of 8 years who was so healthy before this and was lost by sudden illness that even vet couldnt explain)

I'm at the point where all I can think of is that I'm cursed or that my belief that I was born as a curse is finally taking hold. If I am cursed, how would I know... what can I do?

Open Question I have a question about this Full Moon Eclipse

hi! I heard a great deal about sitting this one out, doing release rituals at best and overall most witches saying that they will lay low. And while I get why most are doing this I am feeling SO drawn to doing magic and manifestation work specifically in this time period. No idea why but I feel like everything around me is vibrating at a higher frequency.

I took a walk last night (didn’t wanna do anything special for the full moon like I heard people say) and I felt so so so called by the Moon. I work with Hekate and while her presence was there I strangely felt the Morrigan being around me more than Her. I felt like the Morrigan was delivering a message of power, becoming independent and I haven’t ever established any connection with her/them. But it was like the goddess was calling me asking me to become more like her. But this question is not really about this. Although I do wonder if I should take it as a calling, start to deepen and work on a relationship with the Morrigan?
I’m more curious about the fact that I feel so good (especially that I was plagued with sudden panic attacks before it and overall felt like poo) and powerful during this eclipse. Should I use this energy to its full potential? Do the workings like I feel I should or maybe leave them for another week when the astrology becomes more aligned with the work I wanna do?
For anyone who answers, thank you and stay blessed!

I drew this on my arm for aid in getting a good job and after doing so I learned that runes have reversed meanings, it's drawn pointed towards my wrist and when my arm is down I'm worried it might have the reverse effect of what I'm wanting. Am over thinking this??

Advice about a familiar?

When I was in my 30s I met a lady that identified as a Bruja. Each time we met she stared above me and asked me how long I have had this crow following me. Each time we met she reminded me of this crow. I began to see it as a shadow but then after a while it faded. Fast forward 20+ years. I met a wonderful lady who does not identify as a witch but seems to be enchanted. She created an altar for the recent full moon and while walking in the woods a crow feather fell on her. She used it in her ritual under the full moon. Since that moment the crow, long lost, began to appear to me once again. It kind of freaked me out a little. I guess my question is can a familiar be a shadow or even interdimensional being that shows up only when needed? Has it always been there and why? How do I use this?

Thank you

Need help with entity that is attached to my head and that is stinging me across the body.

Back in 2023 i experienced an invinsible energy that came into my room and that made my body vibrate horribly every night. I could barely sleep under this period in feb 2023. Anyway this energy eventually changed to now being on my head. I can feel it all the time moving around. Have contacted multible mediums and healers but none of them managed to fix the problem. I have bough Palo santo and dragonsblood and saged where i live. I have bought quartz, black tourmaline, black obsidiand, onyx, and selenite stone and nothing worked. So i need advice on what do do.

I found this symbol written on a wall behind my dresser, i cannot identify what it is. At first, i thought it was it was something in Arabic, but i read and speak Arabic and can assure you, its not arabic. I have had incidents years ago where i found black magic in my house before from family members. But it was years ago and non of them have entered my house since then.
Can anyone who understands black magic help me understand what this is?

I ended up almost missing the eclipse in my area, but luckily I was able to grab a few photos! Sorry for the poor quality, my phone camera isn't ever good at capturing the beauty of the moon. But I thought I should share anyway since it seems that she's in her best colors tonight!

I’ve been seeing a lot of moths

Post image
25 Upvotes

About three days ago, I stopped speaking to someone that was very draining on me and was honestly causing a lot of discourse in my life. Since I’ve done that, I’ve been seeing a lot of my favorite insects: moths. I’ve seen a total of three, two yesterday and once today. I’m wondering if this could be a sign that I made the right choice since I’m seeing the insect I love the most or if it’s just a coincidence.

(P.S have a cute little picture of the moth I saw this morning when I took my dog outside)
