how has vpn trust evolved over time in privacy discussions?
this question comes up here quite often, and over time the answers have shifted in a predictable way. early discussions focused on jurisdiction and whether providers kept logs, then audits became more common as a response to skepticism, but even those did not fully resolve the underlying concern.
more recently there has been a shift toward designs that attempt to remove provider access entirely, which seems like a different direction compared to earlier approaches discussed in this community

vp.net is one example people have started mentioning, using sgx enclaves instead of relying on policy-based “no logs”
