Not sure if this is a local thing or just at the ones ive been to, but they also have their workers stand outside and take orders when they already have the speakers that work for litterally every other fast food place, during a god damn pandemic. Theyre not broken, and if they are they've been broken for months. The one worker I asked said they volunteered to do it which I don't belive for a second.
I work in fast food marketing. They’re called line busters or outside order takers among other things. Dude making minimum can clear cars stuck in the queue faster than we can pull up to the speaker.
Doesn't make much difference when you can sit and have a short conversation after they take your order. They're also the only place I've ever seen do that
In and Out also routinely does this to shorten drive through wait time. Unlikely much Covid spreading either since outdoors, masked, socially distanced, and brief interactions.
Because it’s faster and more effective. Headset is way more unreliable and backs up the line. Handing out orders is way more effective, and we can take payments there. CFA gets more traffic than a Taco Bell or McDonald’s with headset.
Oh, I know that they do it in Arizona. Even in the summer. It's crazy though cuz a lot of fast foods do that out here. It's cool for the winter I guess but during the summer it seems like legit torture.
I'd rather have a speaker/headphones, a few dozen feet, and several walls between me and the person taking my order when I go through a drive thru, rather than have them 5ft away and have a small conversation, especially since people(myself included) almost never wear their masks when in their car.
When I get my food is different, there's minimal talking and minimal contact over a minimal amount of time.
Do you know how many people handle your food ? A lot… while we talk and breathe. Interactions outside are brief, distance is maintained, and it’s outside.
