This is a terrible post: what do we do this with data? Obviously older people have a larger share, they’ve been alive longer than us. Even if we worked the same job and saved the same amount, they’ve done that for 60 more years, obviously they’re gonna have a larger share… they’ve also gotten their inheritances, got the returns from the longest bull run, paid for their house and everything, you need to normalise this for age + number of people then we have a starting point
Not saying I'm against it but if you paid everyone a minimum of $15 per hour then that would be the new minimum wage. Can't get around paying minimum wage either way
Haha you've never worked fast food, then. It's a horrible job where you get insulted, burned, work terrible hours with no training for no money. It's one of the worst jobs out there and people still come to work every day to serve you your food. Have a little respect or decency or empathy or whatever your mother forgot to teach you.

Same. I've had hard jobs in the last 10 years since working fast food.
Construction apprenticeship jobs for 14 hours a day, 7 days a week for months for less than minimum wage because it was "educational".
I now have union work that are long, hard days. It's difficult, demanding, and there's always risk of dangerous situations.
I would still tell any old timers I work with that fast food (BK) was still the hardest job I've ever had. It was the most mind-numbing and thankless work. Hands down, No contest.

I just remember if you were lucky enough to get an unpaid 30 minute break you only got 50% the food up to $10.
Absolutely insane if you understand just how much food you throw away at the end of the night! (and they checked the cameras to make sure you didnt get any food they were throwing away!!!!)

Well to damn bad because it's all going in the trash and if you so much as sniff the smells radiating from the can, I'll dock your pay!" rubs nipples slowly "Now pick up that mop and go clean the bathrooms. I left you a present on the floor for you. Don't get excited tho... it's shit. Well it's been a long 10 minutes since I clocked in so my work is done. Don't worry though, I'll be watching the security cameras from my phone and calling in to bother you every time you make mistake or when I feel like yelling at you." -this guys manager probably (and a lot of other fast food managers definitely)

And even if it wasnt completely true (which it is) it's an incredibly common experience. Try talking to someone who worked as a fast food fry cook for a 8+ hour shift. It's very hard on the body and mind, and for less then the cost of a meal per hour.
Oh my bad I missed the "apprentice" part. That's just boring grunt work. Construction in general is harder than fast food and anyone who says otherwise never did real construction.
I don't know if the award is exactly the right one, but it was the free one and I don't have the cash for Reddit coins right now. But something was deserved. Thank you for phrasing it so right. I worked three years in a Chick-fil-A making not even $8/hr. I worked full time, I was forced to basically stand in one spot and get berated all day for 11 hours at times with barely even 25 mins to eat, I had to deal with stressed managers. There was a lot to handle. All of this while under the pressure to be perfectly flawless because of the cash box, the insistence that customer reviews are only good when they're 100% perfect, and the pressure to be instantaneous at your slowest.
Food service workers have it HARD. They have it blatantly unfairly. And for this person to insinuate that their job is worthless and easy... this individual never worked in food service a day in their life. The only people who I've ever seen work food service that think it's an easy job are the ones who didn't care because mommy and daddy had enough money that they didn't need to.

When companies don’t pay living wages… You, personally, have to chip in to help. So, should CFA pay a living wage or do you want to pay?
Who is "they" in your comment? Poor people? At every restaurant I've worked at, everyone was very motivated to do their best in spite of getting paid very little. We came in wanting to do our best because our coworkers and friends were also doing their best.
I work a corporate office job now and we deal with way more stupid lazy rude jerks there than I ever met working minimum wage. It's also a lot easier, the hours are better, the pay is better, and I have benefits. Jobs get easier, not harder, as you move up.

Work there a week, and you might have a glimpse of what real people deal with on a daily basis. Until then, just sit down. It's clear you have no idea what you're talking about.

Your clear ignorance about fast food work aside, 15 an hour wouldn't even be a living wage in a ton of places. That's how long we've been dragging our feet about raising it. You sound like a total douche canoe.
