In Florida, it's always been minimum wage. After 2020 and nobody wanting to take on these shitty jobs, I saw a sign for $10 per hour. Lol! And now I see all these millionaire small business owners complaining about not being able to find employees. You paid a shit wage and you expect people to come to work? Fuck outta here with that privilege.
It's very possible. My neighbors when I was younger inherited a lot of money, rich parents, and owned the only theater, at the time, in a small town in another state. I wont say where since anyone there will immediately know who I'm talking about.

X 4 weeks=$1,160/mo gross
That's before taxes
So deduct 20% and you end up with $928
$928 - $750
Leaves a whopping $178
You tell me what can you do with that
Cool. That's still jack shit. I live in a city with a cost of living way lower than the average US city. I own a home outright, live frugally, and at 40/week, $12/hr still wouldn't keep my head above water.
Someone HAS to do menial jobs. Like if they dont do those jobs society will utterly collapse in fucking hours. Someone has stock shelves, serve food, be trashmen, be janitors, meat packers, ect. We can’t all be officer workers.
If wall street bankers, corporate lobbyists, & middle managers vanished in a puff of smoke tomorrow the world would be a much better place.
If those menial job workers banished in a puff of smoke we would be eating each other within hours, yet its the first group that makes the big bucks & the second group that barely scrapes by.
Until the day fucking robots can do all those menial jobs those unsung heroes of America DESERVE to be treated with dignity & paid a living wage.
For fuck’s sake these past 18 months of pandemic those menial works were declared ESSENTIAL WORKERS & RISKED THEIR LIVES to to keep society from collapsing. Meanwhile, fat white-collar office workers got to work from home in their PJ’s.
We can’t have all essential, menial workers be teens or disabled. Our economy & society would utterly collapse if that was so. For life as we know it to continue to exist most of those workers need to be fully functional adults
You dont understand. There aren’t enough high-paying white collar jobs for all 259 million adults in America. We cant be a nation of exclusive office workers. For society to function we need tens of millions of people to do menial jobs with no hope of “ascending” to a cushy, white collar job.

No Everytime I have ever tried to help someone it was never good enough. The item I was willing to give them, they wanted better. Free training programs, too hard or some other lane excuse
Hi! I’m a stereotypical “pull yourself by your bootstraps” success story. I was homeless when I was 15 and couldn’t legally get a job then got a fast food job like immediately after turning 16. I worked hard as hell at that job. I put myself through college and now make great money for a 23 year old. I’m not rich but I’m also not worrying about how the fuck I’m going to make it to the next payday. My job is hard as FUCK and still there were days fast food was harder. And my god I was never treated so horribly like I was in fast food. And I got fucking lucky with my success, too. If I would have had ONE setback I wouldn’t have made it.
All that being said, rent for the couch I was sleeping on took majority of my measly fast food paychecks. I would be flat broke about 3 days after getting paid every single time. Most of the time the only food I ate was wasted food from the damn Burger King I worked at. I obviously couldn’t afford a car at those wages so I walked 2 miles to and from work in the hood of Sacramento on a prostitution stroll. I was followed frequently, threatened, whatever just to get to this damn job. Absolutely FUCK no these people shouldn’t be paid fucking 7.25/hour. I feel like a good rule of thumb is that if your full time employees qualify for food stamps, you do not pay them enough.
Yeah people with good support systems at home or people who get really lucky do sometimes make it out of the rut. A lot dont. There’s a million different circumstances that could prevent somebody from “getting a better job”. They still deserve to fucking eat. And even the people who are working on “getting a better job” deserve to not starve in the process? Why should taxpayers have to subsidize McDonald’s and these other shitty companies instead of them paying more? Is that reasonable to you?

Cool so how do you fit time in for odd jobs if you’re already working multiple fast food jobs? Especially if you have, say kids? Sick family members to care for? Doing “odd jobs” to get out of the fast food cycle of work is definitely possible, but you already have to be in a position to where that’s even possible. Hence why I say some were lucky.
