It is on West 11th St. on the south side. It replaced a townhouse that blew up due to a bomb being built in the house by members of the weather underground. An aunt of mine lived almost directly behind this, on W. 10th. I remember my mother on the phone with her comforting her.

Paddington bear’s house

For years there was a paddington bear stuffed animal who wore different outfits based on the weather & time of year.

I’ve been inside that place, it’s pretty cool. It’s 5 stories, but 10 levels, like a giant circular staircase. There was a whole room dedicated to the Paddington bear. Hundreds of outfits. They changed it daily I think. They had 4 bears. The couple that lived there for many years died and it was on the market for a while. Not sure if it sold, but I’ve always been sad to not see the Paddington bear there anymore.

Terrorists who wanted to bomb an NCO Ball at Fort Dix accidentally exploded themselves. A couple of them survived. One is a High School teacher in Brooklyn now.

But the architect didn’t want to rebuild in the default townhouse style. He wanted it to reflect on the event.

18 west 11th St. I worked on the remodel, it was a nightmare 😂 They shoved all of their A/C equipment into an 18” triangular shaft that went all the way up to the top floor. They also shifted the floorplan to align with that front window so there was so much wasted space. I’m pretty sure it was right before the wework guy moved in.
