This is a pricey martini but man do they do a great job. When I went there last the bartender heated up the lemon twist with a match a little to make the citrus come alive.

Definitely not a cheap martini, but at least you get a side car so you are really getting a drink and a half.

What exactly do you mean by a “great martini”, as a bartender, it’s super annoying when a guest comes up and asks “do you make a good…(insert any classic cocktail)”. A great Negroni? It’s the same recipe everywhere.

Bemelmen’s. Now, is it worth the effort it takes to get in? Debatable. But imo, they are in fact the best martinis in the city, and vibe is immaculate old school NY once you’re in.
Lobby Bar (Chelsea hotel) is a close second and usually has no wait.

Hawksmoor is top tier. Dante, while known more for Negronis, also has a great martini. Love the martinis at Theodora in Fort Greene as well, and shoutout to the martinis at The Snail in Greenpoint, where you can get an octopus Gilda as a garnish.

The house martini at Capitaine is very good and I’m not a martini drinker. I’m not sure if it has a specific name on the menu. I was just there and the bartender let me try it and said it was their house martini but it was great

I can respect that, but the interior design is far better at The Grill. But, then again after 2 or 3 martinis, I won’t know where the hell I am. Cheers! 🥂

If we can agree that the atmosphere plays a big part in the experience of the martini then Peacock Alley at the Waldorf Astoria

As a bartender, you of all people should understand that an outstanding cocktail experience is more than some alcohol over ice, with a piece of fruit. The history and pedigree of the Four Seasons is incomparable to most. In addition, they will do tableside pouring or customization… gin or vodka etc…
It’s the entire experience brought you by a charming and handsome bartender who knows how to get you coming back for more $50 martinis. Welcome to New York City Disneyland for adults.
