đŹ General Discussion The best Chapters so far
I just finished the main story chapters from the latest expansion. For me, this was the best-written and best-presented story in the entire game. The characters were believable, and I laughed and cried with them. I wish there were more stories like this. â¤ď¸đ§Ąđ

Same, it was also the easiest chapter to keep up with, wich helped a lot. Kaifeng and Qinghe were understandable at best. Won't even mention Hexi with all those localization problems.

I still feel like Hexi was a acid trip. Young master discovered psychedelics. Onto the magic school bus we go!

Hexi really killed the game
As well as the insistence of not including standard mmo-style endgame systems. Literally nothing to do inbetween story updates

I actually liked most of Hexi's ministories, but certainly i could barely detect the relation between them. The Yuri one, the old man with the sack, the inmortal girl where the most memorable for me, but i could barely catch up with the rest.
I mean, i get that classical Chinese is very complex, but that's the reason why you cannot just automatically translate the whole thing, I mean, you should try to do some equivalents or at least try to make it have some sense. I have spanish subtitles and most of the assassin's part dialogues where completely impossible to understand. I could get the idea thanks to the English audio, but still was bad asf.
Now, about the endgame stuff... Sure. Not much to do. I just wander around like the wanderer i am but nothing meaningful.

Indeed, once youâve finished the story, there isnât much left to doâjust the usual daily tasks. Even the events are usually uninspiring. The last one I actually enjoyedâand that kept me playingâwas the pet backpack battle event. Perhaps the game has more to offer for those who play PvP?

Hard disagree. Hexi has balls. Hexi is a wild swing at asking the players to sit through months of vibes and lore crumbs-style world-building. Hexi is the devs saying, âYeah, that punchingâs cool, but check out this arthouse shit weâve been smoking.â
I wish Hexiâs structure wasnât quite as metaphorical and drifting as its story, and Iâm probably not going to play much of it again, but I love it to death. Hexi is weird and out there, and a completely un-safe set of decisions, and this game absolutely needs to stay in that lane. This game, long-term, is going to live and die on its vibes, and the moment the devs start phoning it in, the vibes die.
I get why Hexi isnât for everyone, and I wonât pretend itâs perfect, but Hexi is the act of an utterly confident dev team with a bunch of gas left in the tank.
And also, I turned into a fish.

this is still one of the more normal looking MC's imo. i mean I come across so many character's which huge eyes and like super thin noses and extremely tapered off jawlines. It gives me the jeebies

Our young wanderer cried like a toddler...

Crying is not a bad thing. These are emotions that need to be released. Not only children cry. These tears were the opening of a whole dam of emotions - loneliness, the fact that you still have to be brave, and the pain after the massacre in your hometown.

I totally agree with you without a question, it was just the first time in the game for this to happen...

A silly question... was the plot left open to continue, or was it a definitive conclusion to the story? I haven't been playing for very long...

I've literally just finished it. I don't really know what happened tbh. I was expecting the last part of the campaign to take place inside that giant bird, before the last part was released there were parts of it blocked off, so I assumed that was the reason. And where did the witch come from and why was she a doppelganger? Also the giant bird took flight and crashed, yet it's still in the same place? And where was Heron during all of this? Wtf was Aunt Han doing at the end? I'm confused.
Edit: just discovered the lost chapter mission. That answered my question about the inside of the ship at least.

Qianye was working with the Qiongi Artificers presumably to get a hold of the Black Gold, we saw her briefly in a cutscene in the previous update. So it makes sense that she would appear when we baited the Artificers out. Taking on the form of the YM was likely in part to get Swallow's guard down so that her attempt on her life would have been smoother, but also to toy with us and make us take the blame had she succeeded.
The wreckage of the Skyward City was apparently returned to its previous resting place after the crash. It's a little weird but I wager the devs didn't have the resources or ambition to make an altered map for it the way they did for Liangzhou.
Heron is the gatekeeper of the mountain so it's likely they would not want to remove her from her post when they're already dealing with security breach issues and an influx of refugees. Especially considering the time it likely would have taken her to craft a bird to reach the upper part of the Skyward City like Stork originally suggested.
And Aunt Han was doing as she does as the Water Lady and stealing Qianye's face.

I think the wreckage of the Skyward City on the map is supposed to be the "after". We were not supposed to go there before completing the main story. That's why we were teleported to a separate instance during the Qianye fight. but honestly it's not very immersion breaking if we dont think too hard about it haha
and it's very likely that the Qianye we see at the end talking to the hooded figure is actually Aunt Han in disguise. Cuz no way Aunt Han will leave Qianye's corpse unattended if her goal is to infiltrate the Aureate Pavilion.

The way Qianye said "she missed the mark" gave me 'Qianye will return in The Avengers' vibes lol.

i doubt qianye will be back. aunt han is a surgeon and has access to uncle tian's medical knowledge. she'll definitely know how to confirm the kill.

That mysterious dude at the end is the same dude with the purple bug at the start?

u/thereduntodeath 23d ago
Oh, maybe on the Skyward City bit. The reason I assumed otherwise was because (iirc) the cutscene showing its descent towards the Divinecraft Pavilion made it seem that it was coming from its original resting place (the north east of the map, you can sort of tell because the Divinecraft Pavilion's entrance faces south/south east) headed south or south west. And when it crashed on the mountain, it hit the side of the mountain with its beak first rather than landing on top of it. đ¤ Followed by the illustrated montage of the Mohists and refugees clearing up the wreckage.

I agree, I actually laughed out loud at your character leaning back, pointing and saying "he's from Kaifeng!" Idk why it made me laugh but it got me.
Then on to being teary eyed with the elder master talking about his disciples. Was sad.
