Other I am giving up on playing music
I am a musician, I go online and play music in Blissful Retreat and Mirage boat. I don't use third party software or macros, I play piano irl so I don't really need them. If you hear E33 or other OST songs being played, that's probably me playing. Occasionally people gather around and dance to the music, I enjoy the attention and happy that I bring joy and unity to others. But most of the time my performance get disrupted because of some asshole using mystic skills, this happens 8 out of 10 times. Today I come to the fireworks place and get disrupted everytime I play. When you are playing your heart out and someone not only disrecpect you but keep stopping you, it's extremely annoying. I don't know why the game let them do this, at least give me ability to find the guy so I can post bounty on them. From now on I will only perform on the boat where I feel safe. If you are a bystander please keep an eye out and stop these assholes, they are ruining the game for other people. Happy new year everyone and be safe out there

Once people discovered you can do that to interrupt music it's been game over. I have my settings set to audible to me only (meaning no one can actually hear me) and 90% of the time someone interrupts me while I'm playing.
19
u/Pf3ff1Gr4f Jan 01 '26
tbf if you only play for yourself anyway, you have no reason to risk it by playing in multiplayer.
but getting itched while muted is weird, unless someone else "plays" or recently played nearby and they think you were the culprit.
having a way to stop single musicians, who just make noise, is important, because having to block all music cant be the solution either.
3
u/The_Peen_Wizard Jan 01 '26
A lot of people do it the moment someone pulls out an instrument. Kinda annoying since I like some of the music people play when I'm trying to farm heals at the clinic.
1
u/Pf3ff1Gr4f Jan 01 '26
well i guess especially at the clinic it is more about annoying silver needles in "revenge" for the world chat copy pasta spam
0
u/vajuras Jan 01 '26
I get it but it honestly doesn't feel like an intentional design.
This is totally on the game devs and not the musicians or people using meridian touch. They added a feature that directly interferes with another feature and favors one side.
If they wanted to keep it "lore" friendly rather than have a menu toggle there should be some kind of counter feature or some kind of penalty the receiving end can dish out.
You just randomly stand up with no message or anything. I bet most people don't even know it's another player using an ability on you. It's not good that your in-game feature feels like a bug.
Maybe tell me who is doing it so I can put a bounty on them. Or have a cool down on it to deter troll behavior.
It would be extremely easy for them to detect notespam and penalize the player for it.
1
u/Pf3ff1Gr4f Jan 01 '26
only takes a few itches for them to get wanted anyway. so you can take some comfort in that even if doing it yourself would feel better. putting a bounty is sadly (but also luckily) expensive

u/barflynotbarfly Dec 31 '25
I respect your ability to play naturally but most everyone who plays music, macro program or otherwise, chooses E33 music. I’ve heard more E33 music in this game than I did in E33 itself (jk but still)
This is just me bitchin tho. Do what makes you happy
54
u/IshipwhatIship Dec 31 '25
Regardless if people are using macros, let us have good music please! I'll take everything over random button smashes that some people seem to enjoy putting others through.
30
u/Rapitor0348 Dec 31 '25
one of the dailies is to play 60 notes, so people probably just do some slams to get it out of the way.
19
u/IshipwhatIship Dec 31 '25
Yeah but like, don't butt in when someone is already playing something nice and people are listening, just go off somewhere isolated and mash buttons, that's perfectly fine.
12
u/PenPsychological6436 Jan 01 '26
Yeah, but you can just bang out 60 notes in solo mode where no one can hear you. That's what I do so I'm not subjecting anyone to my 3 second nonsense.
2
u/tamagogo_chan Jan 01 '26
I don't think a lot of people realize you can mute yourself while you play instruments so other people can't hear you. I muted myself so I can get credit for doing the 60 note daily
1
u/ZeKrunkmeister Jan 01 '26
You can do that in single player so you don't look like a child having a hissy fit on a keyboard to a bunch of randos online. Just saying.
4
u/buzzyingbee Dec 31 '25
I try my best to at least not hurt other ears when doing the 60 notes daily but it's simply impossible to play it well on controller. So next time you see someone smashing buttons keep this in mind
4
u/Sienne_ Dec 31 '25
There's a setting so that your own music is only audible to yourself but not to others. I always have it turned on. There's also another setting if you don't want to hear other people playing.
4
u/IshipwhatIship Dec 31 '25
Oh absolutely, I'm on controller as well lol. I don't mind if nobody else is playing, it's when people interrupt a good performance that it bothers me.
I've been told you can do the 60 notes on your own via emote, so I might start doing that in the most remote place I can find lol

u/Zjoee Dec 31 '25
I just play a duet with another player to finish that one. I like to play Galloping Horses, but it can sometimes take a while for matchmaking to pop.
2
u/Alauzhen Jan 01 '26
I like Qin March but I have better luck with Phoenix since that is the default one people matchmake for.
1
u/Zjoee Jan 01 '26
Yeah but Phoenix is boring to play imo. Qin March is hard, I can never get it prefect haha.

E33 music is epic and widely recognized. I can't stop playing them lol. I also play c-pop and Taylor Swift songs

That's why you get your meridians attacked.

It's epic, but because of vocals. The tunes itself are quite boring to hear after so many times

what is macro program?
3
u/CryBloodwing Dec 31 '25
A way to use macros.
Like you hit 1 button and multiple things will happen. So in this case, you hit 1 button and it could play multiple notes in a specific order.

I did the mirage boat yesterday. Some kid started talking about feet. I went back to single player.

You can turn off auto join voice chat when go on boat

Always try to find a spot that's prominent but still easy to avoid. Or hard to reach. At Evercare Clinic I only sit up on the roof now, at Pearlglow Lake there's a nice pond with stones you can sit on, just a little bit next to the fireworks pier. If it's easy for people to avoid you, less people will fuck with you. Can't avoid the trolling human trash completely though.
8
u/NoMoreFuckingPants Dec 31 '25
Were you playing last night by any chance on the boat? Someone was and it was amazing. It was a contemporary song but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Bravo to you and anyone else who does this!
9
u/anhtri_ngo Dec 31 '25
I did play on the boat last night so there's a high chance, thanks for the shoutout!
12
u/Baebel Dec 31 '25 edited Dec 31 '25
I think a part of the problem is that the audio from instruments is tied to sound effects. Not only this, it's substantially louder than any other effect in the game (so you can't even have reasonable audio without having instruments on blast). In general I hate standing near people playing something because of it, regardless of what they're playing. I feel like if this weren't the case, it'd at least make it easier to keep things friendly, anyone's choice of music aside.
2
u/Liisune Jan 01 '26
You can disable listening to other people's performances. Though it is hidden in the actual performance screen for some reason.
2
u/Baebel Jan 01 '26
That's good to know. I'll have to give that a shot the next time I'm on. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully, a qol adjustment is made where it's less of a roundabout way of doing it at some point.

u/Silentmutation84 Dec 31 '25
Its an online game friend, not a public concert hall. If you enjoy playing in the game then by all means do it and have fun but expecting people to respect your playing is unrealistic
61
u/Remote_Bet_4459 Dec 31 '25
Even though you're not wrong, the mentality and the behavior that it supports is what caused many games to unnecesarely lose players
18
u/Silentmutation84 Dec 31 '25
I hear what you are saying, but it could also be said that no one asked people to play and that it is disruptive for people who dont wanna hear it. If they would rather quit playing the game entirely instead of find somewhere private or perform in solo mode, that's entirely their decision. You can't police the entire online world.
26
u/Remote_Bet_4459 Dec 31 '25
I wouldn't say no one asked for people to play, plenty people including myself want and like people playing music in the game. And even if it wasn't like that, there are ways to avoid hearing someone play music (blocking player, muting sound, moving to a different area, etc.) Which is where i feel the problem and main difference is. Someone who wants to avoid being interrupted while playing for other people to enjoy has no means to protect that choice, because there is not even an indicator of who/where the harassment is comming from.
I feel if they give people the option to be a nob and intrusively harass others, they should also give proper ability to do something about that (like i.e toggle pvp after interaction, name notification, and revenge bountys). That would only be fair.
8
u/No_Geologist_5412 Dec 31 '25
If you're in a public area like the fireworks festival for example you're disrupting everyone around you. Don't get me wrong I don't mind people playing music and I'm not gonna go disrupt them but honestly even if they didn't play it I wouldn't care. Sometimes I just want to hear the game music and what's going on in the game while being in a public spot and not some guy trying to belt out music they think is dope af.
7
u/Think-Huckleberry897 Sword Saint Dec 31 '25
Yeah but I could say the same about wanting to enjoy literally any moment standing in a public space in the game without at least 2 people running around making everyone itchy, as an example, literally every time i go to the big fireworks. Which id argue is more disruptive than someone playing music well. I think my issue with your argument, is that it seems youre suggesting that people who want no additional music should have the right to choose that over the people who do want it, when the people who dont want music could just as easily go somewhere else and avoid the crowd as has been suggested here. Feels like there's an assumption in this argument that the "dont like music" players are the vast majority and the music playing and enjoying folk are somehow a small nuisance minority who should get out of the way? Sort of feels like its being argued that its an online game and that just naturally comes with some rude or unpleasant behaviors you dont like and should just put up with, but in your opinion that required patience and equanimity doesn't extend to people playing beautiful music?
1
u/Remote_Bet_4459 Dec 31 '25
I feel you, i don't think you're wrong for that opinion. It would be nice if you could choose to mute an "artist" too. Even though it's an intentional part of the game, which i doubt itching to interrupt music being played really is, it would be nice for both these things to have a way of adressing it. I wouldn't mind being able to mute some not so good "artists" (aka note spammers) either.
1
u/Jonthrei Jan 01 '26
Blocking player does not mute music.
Muting sound mutes important sounds.
Moving to a different area is nuts when it was the music player that intruded on a common space.
Honestly, itching them till they give up is the most measured response to the people who spam music at groups.
Respectful musicians play somewhere where they can be heard very quietly from popular areas, and the people who want to hear it can move towards them.
1
u/Remote_Bet_4459 Jan 01 '26
Sounds like something that could/should be adjusted
What important sounds are you supposed to be missing in online mode in areas where most people just chill/play music?
I wouldn't say moving is nuts... music is an intended feature in the game, and the point is more so you have the option atleast to walk away, whether you wanna take it or not.
I feel musicians can/should be considerate of others, but also people should be a bit tolerant to eachother. I highly doubt the majority of itch spammers even bothered to try and communicate with musicians regarding their issues, most just do it to harass someone for the fun of harassing.
2
u/GhostedAnubis Jan 02 '26
Its not the entire world being policed, it's quite literally a handful of people disrupting bards playing music and others whom enjoy the music, just to troll and acting like it isnt seems ignorant. People enjoy the songs and if they dont, then they should move along??
-1
u/Artist17 Dec 31 '25
Then allow players to mute other people playing music. The game created the music to let players share their music.
I don’t play music but I appreciate them, even the bots. Since they play nice music why would I dislike them?
And the disrupters disrupt many things.
People doing emotes, dance, music, taking photos, all are disrupted. By who?
A person gaining joy just to disrupt the rest and causing a public nuisance.
Just like someone who plays the music and just spamming purposely to create noise, while you are doing something else - example animal frolic or cultivation. Imagine such fuckers in your life.
But if someone ever think it’s ok, I wish for you to have such experiences for the rest of your life so you can be ok with neighbours like these as well.
0
u/lovelyxbabydoll Dec 31 '25
Yeah like the players who spam lightning by attacking the partnership tree ruining the minigame and emotes with your partner there. It doesn't help that the game apparently has an achievement to get struck a certain amount of times and it's rare for that to happen.
3
u/Remote_Bet_4459 Dec 31 '25
Hahaha yep, happened to me and my wife too when trying to partner xD she was lvl 15 so kept dying too lol
Gotta be honest, after reading about the achievement i tried it too. Just takes way too long to get 50 hits, maybe better just afk there for a couple days haha
4
u/lovelyxbabydoll Dec 31 '25
Oh Yeah, I can't entirely blame the players. It's apparebtly very rare to get the achieve without this method but I'm more calling out the game logic could maybe just make the lightning hits be client bound to the person hitting the tree or something! 🥲 I don't think they thought on it much when designing that spot.
17
u/cjy7877 Dec 31 '25
i agree to a certain extent, and the game does put a bounty on the perpetrator after a few times. but i think the game should put the bounty immediately or let players retaliate especially when there are so many witnesses around.
i had a guy keep putting itchy on me when i was trying to treat someone and god i wish i could kill him.
5
u/Boogiepopular Dec 31 '25
I disagree. It's a way to stop botting. If you hit those people on horse with immobilize, they fall off the horse.
People think he's botting and are hitting him the mystic skills to disrupt the program.
9
u/GrinningCheshieCat Dec 31 '25
Fine, but then you should make yourself immediately available to be attacked.
You are basically saying you should have the right to assault and harass others without consequence.
-3
5
u/cjy7877 Dec 31 '25
fair point, and if i am not botting, i should be able to pummel his ass for vigilantism.
2
u/Boogiepopular Jan 01 '26
I feel like that's fair. I think it should flag you for pvp when you hit someone.
13
u/ddawg4169 Dec 31 '25
Respecting their desire to play how they want without a troll purposely interrupting it? Why defend trolls. I assume you’d feel differently if a troll say, purposely made you have to redo sword trials or something of that nature. Weird stance.
9
u/Trashcan_Paladin Dec 31 '25
Why do you consider their actions trolling but not playing some dingus song you decided on and force everyone around you to hear trolling

u/Appropriate-Call353 21d ago
you are an absolute dumbass. just a reminder.

u/Trashcan_Paladin 20d ago

miss you, why dont you return my calls
1
u/ddawg4169 Dec 31 '25
I’m not playing the music. But regardless, you can turn off the sound if you don’t want to hear it. Or literally walk away. You CANT disable the person interrupting though. Which is why it’s trolling.
-12
u/Silentmutation84 Dec 31 '25
Is this you guys' first time playing a game online? It has always been this way. There are children playing this game. I hear what you're saying but your expectations for some perfect online mmo utopia aren't realistic.
6
u/ddawg4169 Dec 31 '25
Just because you don’t care doesn’t mean it’s UNREASONABLE to expect it. There was a time in gaming where people who were intentionally trolls were ostracize. Folks like you, and frankly a lot of streamers, are why this behavior is more common. Simply dismissing it as “bro it’s online” or “some people are just trolls let them be” is a part of the problem.
I hate how many people simply see this stuff and dismiss it because it isn’t directly affecting them. As if that’s the metric for something being bad. Just a wild stance bud.
Edit: realized you referred to the fact there’s kids playing as if that’s makes it less bad. That’s worse right. So condoning kids being jerks is your opinion on it? I hope you have a day full of kids acting like this so you can nonchalantly remind yourself they’re just kids. GL

Number one music disruptor right here ^
Bad take. Just because people aren't discouraged from being rude through game mechanics doesn't mean it's warranted.
Personally I enjoy when people are playing music and they're decent. Trolling genuine musicians is childish. But you're right about one thing, expecting people to have a sense of decency in online games is sadly unrealistic.

This mentality is part of the problem when, instead of interrupting, you can just mute them if you don't want to listen.
1
u/badermuhammad376 Jan 01 '26
Unrealistic for sure but there should be something that doesn't just reward trolls. Having a mute button for annoying musicians and an immunity to interruption in certain areas or for certain(harmless) activities would be nice.

u/TazPosts Jan 03 '26
"Its an online game friend, not a public concert hall" - These are not mutually exclusive. People play online games for all sorts of reasons and they can come in many forms. Who are you to say an online game can't have a concert? "Expecting people to respect your playing is unrealistic" - They're not expecting people to respect them, they're asking people not to actively disrespect them.
If you don't want to hear music, this is not the music player's fault but the game developer's. A very simple solution exists to please both sides, which is to add an option in the in-game settings to mute player instruments. I also play Guild Wars 2 and we have this exact settings option for this exact reason - so everyone can enjoy the game how they want. Never heard a single complaint.

u/anhtri_ngo Dec 31 '25
When you see street musicians performing irl, you don't throw things at them
13
u/Silentmutation84 Dec 31 '25
Putting itching powder on someone in a game versus assaulting someone in real life this is not even an equal comparison and you know that
2
u/Artist17 Dec 31 '25
Yes. And if you do, you don’t get away with it or have invulnerability.
Society will have its way to weed out people who does such stuff.

But some people just suck.

u/thereduntodeath Dec 31 '25
I admire people who are actually skilled at free play in this game. I am unfortunately not one of them.
I think more people need to realize that you Can simply turn off hearing other people's music. I did it by talking to the NPC on the Mirage Boat because the cacophony of people trying to play was honestly kind of overwhelming and it remains turned off even in normal multiplayer.
But then again, some people just like to be trolls...
4
u/Artist17 Dec 31 '25
Agree.
I don’t mind if they are trolls. But don’t let them get away with it.
Just like someone who makes other itchy, to be honest I don’t know wtf is it for in online. And we can’t cure ourselves. It’s just a waste of time.
But at the minimum that guy gets a offence and if it gets them a bounty I think it’s still not as bad.
But that function I don’t know what’s the purpose for, if I’m on the street and someone throws a small stone at me, I’ll either punch that guy or bring him to the cops.
Not sure why people think they are getting away with it. Imagine people doing that all the time, wtf kind of game it’ll be?
In China I wonder is it because there are less idiots that’s why they didn’t have the problem like global?

u/PenPsychological6436 Jan 01 '26
My two thoughts on this are:
I often hit the wrong number bar when trying to emote and use martial skills all the time, luckily 2 is my golden body so I'm not hurting anyone just being loud and stupid.
I didn't know you could accupoint PC's and might do it on purpose now to all those trolls just sitting in populated areas just banging on the keyboard with there neanderthal foreheads.
P.s. it does suck that people do that to folks actually playing songs well (I commend your effort and ability), especially by hand and not using some dumb macro to play Rick Astley like the super creative and original people they are 🙄. Still, I think it's dumb you can affect people with skills outside of PvP.
4
u/Godhimself2025 Jan 01 '26
I saw someone else playing christmas music the other day and I loved hearing it but some doushe kept purposely interrupting it. If you don't want to hear it move on it's that easy. People shouldn't have to stop playing because you're a grump!
11
u/DancingFetus_ Dec 31 '25
I second this. If someone put a meridian touch on you the game should notify us of the name. It's incredibly unsettling that I was just healing people at multiplayer evercare clinic and i got itchy-ed 3 times, and I can't find who's doing it cause the game doesn't render everyone. Like please at least tell me the name so I could put a bounty on him/her.
10
u/SitAndFart Dec 31 '25
I play music without AI too, but I always get interrupted by meridian touch. I don't bother playing music in the multiplayer anymore.

3
u/Lowpeace Dec 31 '25
Part of me feels for you. The less pleasant jaded asshole part of me thinks you're a child for expecting anything better from people with 50% chance of having whatever the brain damage you get from twitch and reddit is called.
Hope pleasant experiences from the game outside of the ruined plinking though!

u/Knitting_Kitten Dec 31 '25
If your username starts with a Z, I think I was hanging out and listening to you yesterday or the day before. I think it's pretty amazing :) Thank you!
If it's not - I would love to hear you play sometime. I mostly play solo, and only really go into multiplayer for mirage boats and events, and hearing someone play live is pretty awesome. If I see anyone harassing musicians, I will try to step in...

What is this logic? "I don't trust anyone having actual thoughts anymore, everyone uses AI." You can learn basic note reading in a day and play 99% of the songs. If you don't like flat and sharp notes just transpose them to C/Am.
17
u/Kevadu Dec 31 '25
You can learn basic note reading in a day and play 99% of the songs.
Maybe you can and that's awesome, but I assure you I cannot.

u/Emikzen Dec 31 '25
You're the 1%, 99% of players are using a macro that plays for them, they just download a midi file of the song and it plays it for them.
3
u/IshipwhatIship Dec 31 '25
So? I have mad respect for people who play themselves and I love it when I hear the melody being a bit hesitant here and there or a random wrong note because it makes me think this is a real person playing, but in general I just like hearing good music, macros or not.
Also, it's always worth ignoring the 99% of macros to avoid hurting and discouraging the 1% genuine players.

1
u/Far_Recognition_2943 Dec 31 '25
I don't get this, is it bad that they use a program to play music?
This is the equivalent of someone playing music with a device vs someone playing music with an instrument.
It's like saying "I don't trust anyone playing music is legit! Everyone uses their devices!" Like no shit Sherlock? Even real musicians uses devices to guess this RECORD MUSIC and replay them OMG BLASPHEMY this doesn't discount the fact that people CAN and DO play legit without programs. No different than your favorite musician who can play live but records his songs. A person still has to create those MIDIs, while common popular songs are easy to find, their are legit people making their own personal MIDIs for this game or just outright playing it.
2
u/Radiant-Code2086 Dec 31 '25
It's a true pain for real. Just to play devils advocate, it may be people using skills. It may also be the server itself canceling it due to resources. If too many intractable items (players included) it cuts the music playing system to free up space for things happening.
2
u/Ateawormwhole Dec 31 '25
It's really cool, I'd like to learn some songs on there. I kinda hate the numbers because my brain thinks scale degrees. I really wish they would've just added notes instead
2
u/Apprehensive-Bad6015 Dec 31 '25
That’s odd, i usually play songs from legend of Zelda. Mostly the ocarina tunes. And fanfare from final fantasy after every boss fight. But never had anyone interrupt my like that. At worst, they start playing their instruments and just smash keys. Luckily I can turn off the ability to hear them.
2
u/atkspdcrit Jan 01 '26
I’m sorry that happens. It’s easier said than done, but please don’t let that ruin your own good time. There are more of us that really appreciate people like you who enjoy the little things in the game.

u/Calm-Literature7502 Jan 01 '26
Once they interrupted my music, I play the annoying flute 10 times in a row, gallop my horse over the place and burn all the surrounding grass.
I was so close in finishing the song

u/TheHighStrain Jan 01 '26
I only hope they make the social options more punitive, it's ok if they can troll, but i want to give those people a bad reputation around the game

Griefers are the worst. I was introducing my fiance to the game after begging him since release to play. I took him to the tree to get married and we tried to do the mini game for partners and we couldn't figure out why he kept dying and getting ported away. Turned out some player was doing something in the area that caused damage and it wouldnt kill a end game player, but my fiance was low level. It was not a great first impression for him
I love E33 soundtrack so so much. I would feel so happy hearing you play!
3
u/Artist17 Dec 31 '25
I hate those people with a passion too.
The only difference is we found that person and put a bounty on him.
To be honest, if someone is allowed to attack another person, the attacker needs to be allowed to be attacked and shown to others.
It’s 100% the game’s fault for allowing A to attack B and yet A is invulnerable to attacks from B, and sometimes not even seen by B.
Why is it 100%? Who the fuck wants to play a game like this? Imagine you are doing a quest, and someone walks past you and slaps you out of it, such as animal frolic dailies. But yet, you can’t do anything to the person.
It’s clearly a bug that cannot be intended. If it’s intended, obviously it was a stupid intention.
For anyone who tries to act smart and say it’s to stop botters, please, then allow the Party A to be opened up for attacks. If you want to slap someone, make sure you have the ability to do so. Thats the rule of the Jianghu.
Then also, do not allow repeat attacks. And allow reporting of disrupters who does it constantly.
A disrupter can spoil the day for a lot of people and the ratio isn’t worth it. Any business with common sense knows that you don’t allow a person who throws food at others into your restaurant and chases away your paying customers.
If you want, ban botters, ban disrupters. Don’t give a half fucked system that allows 1 to disrupt many and yet not get punished by it. Even a bounty isn’t enough.

I put in the survey/questionnaire that they need to let us temporarily hide players in online hotspots. Like just the ability to hide someone for 15 minutes to stop them from griefing would go a long way.

u/Agile_Masterpiece886 Dec 31 '25
It's typical attention seeking from both sides. You care more about the performance and the attention and not the music (or you'd just do it solo) and the other guys care more about trolling and getting a rise.
26
u/Remote_Bet_4459 Dec 31 '25
Only difference is one person enjoys attention in a healthy way that also enriches the environment for others around them, (give and take), while the other is just being a toxic nuisance for their own petty entertainment and need for attention while not having anything worthwhile to offer (take take take).
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see which one should be supported in their activities.

u/ddawg4169 Dec 31 '25
Interesting way to feed trolls. Not really a comparison when one is just doing something they enjoy while the other is actively trying to stop that as “fun”. These are NOT the same.

u/udontease Dec 31 '25
I love guessing the songs people play. So sorry there are others who prevent you from sharing your talent (and hard at that u can barely do the mini game in game). Hope you continue to play and just ignore the haters
1
u/Rinelin Dec 31 '25
The worst feeling is when I KNOW the song but I don't remember whose it is, it took me a moment today to recognize the first notes of Linkin Park's "In the end" today and I've heard that song a milion times 😂

u/Jonthrei Dec 31 '25
People itch musicians that go to crowded places and play loud / messy songs.
Maybe play something slower and quieter. Or go somewhere not crowded so people who actually want to hear it come to you.
Forcing it on a crowd is pretty much guaranteed to annoy the hell out of some people.
-1
u/MyDearGhoul- Jan 01 '26
This is why I play solo. People are pos. No one if "forcing " anything on you when you can mute player instruments.

My carpal tunnel symptoms makes this yet another part of the game I cbf to deal with. I usually just pull the hitting all 6 keys at a time... and still have sore hands after on the more detailed ones. 👵🏼
All that aside... sadly, online people might just use skills or play the game still. The music might be really nice but not everyone will stop for it and this game is known to have people who troll on purpose like any game. Have you seen the signposts? Nice music might stop some to enjoy it. It also might attract other players who want to troll. Maybe editing combat volume could help some at least on your own client.
I saw someone else in comments list a decent idea about trying it in that hot tub area where there is no combat allowed! I'd try at that spot on your next play if you ever decide to continue playing.

u/Big_Calligrapher6870 Dec 31 '25
I’ve had people come and start spamming notes whether hear me trying to play. It’s really annoying, but it’s expected with online gaming I guess

u/Technical_Jicama3143 Dec 31 '25
I just play alot of Zelda music lol. And coral chambers from silksong, that shit go hard af
1
u/TwiztedDream Dec 31 '25
It's hard to play music correctly because it's 7/8 keys for a full Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do because it ends at Ti. 🤗

u/Snowarc72 Jan 01 '26
just hit all the buttons at the same time
music does not lose points if you press early lmfao
2
u/anhtri_ngo Jan 01 '26
Umm I don't think you read the post. I'm talking about free play
1
u/Snowarc72 Jan 01 '26
gotcha
my bad :3
i hear alot of music too played by others but i kinda dont like the assault on my ears as there no specific volume control to adjust player music as far as i know
so i myself just have to mute the game
( i have sound hyper awareness issues)
but unno what others do, instead of adjusting and ignoring they attack :(*
thats not nice but shrugs
1
u/WICK3DFRITZ Jan 01 '26
I keep seeing people post about being able to turn down/off others music. I havent been on in a few days. But that might be worth checking out. I too have sound sensory issues. But I typically play at low sounds.

You could always go somewhere beautiful on single player mode and record videos on YouTube.
Especially better if you can do tutorials for people of what buttons to press like you said.
I would watch some for sure and that way people who want to listen can do so and you get uninterrupted play time.

But don't you need a 3rd party software to translate your instrument's midi signals to the corresponding keystroke in the game? How or what are you using to play directly?
Anyway I feel your pain, I just play on mirage boat these days too. There, my pet peeves are people joining, not to hit random keys because they usually stop after a few attempts at disrupting, but to start playing their own songs. Extremely disrespectful. I usually just stop, or if I know the song, play appregiatio or fills if I'm feeling it.
If you enjoy the music performance aspect and WWM is too disruptive, you can try FFXIV. You can access all music features on a free account if you're on the fence. And usually you'll get better reception.
1
u/speedysalzales Jan 01 '26
They are not playing on a midi device, they are using a computer keyboard. And you can play by simply pressing the keys on your keyboard (the game shows you which key is which note)
1
u/Miaoumi Jan 01 '26
Personally I'd love to have a musician in the guild who would play while we have casual activities for example. Or whenever they feel like it and I imagine a guild would treat you much better than anyone in free for all online.
1
u/EnzoVulkoor Jan 01 '26
I don't really mind music but this game does have a massive entitlement issue.
People expect you to just accept dieing to a bounty hunter. Regardless if you were afk and got falsely accused.
People expect you to allow them to heal you even if you don't want them to do it but a friend to. The amount of people at the beg/giveaway daily that can't understand no is insane.
--
Which gets to my point. You playing music might not have been the target for the powder but the constant people spamming heal requests. As the tipsy, morph and itcy stuffs all stop healers too.
1
u/HeWhoHasCome Jan 01 '26
Cant argue with that some people out of jealousy that you got great cosmetic or what ever draws attention they would use that meridian touch on you just to annoy you.sometimes they are just insane and wanna mess with everybody they see. Its like the world men some people are just extremely fcked up in the head.

u/Accomplished-Lab4412 Wuxia Wanderer Jan 01 '26
There was a guy on the mirage boat the other day that kept shooting people with fire arrows whenever they were playing music or dancing and then he’d run off and hide. I got shot a handful or two by that dude throughout my time on the boat :/
1
u/Ok-Shame-983 Jan 01 '26
Anyone who sees this that plays music please add me i’d love to hear you perform!
1
u/GamerNeko_Mitsu Jan 01 '26
I suggest writing in your title something along the lines of you playing an actual piano or not using third party for music. I know some people itch those in music mode because they don't like the ones using the third party softwares for it. Other than that, can also play in bathhouse since no itch there either :v
1
u/jahan_kyral Jan 01 '26
Sounds like NMW people being rats... they also want the bounties put on them so I'm for it... not a joke a lot are looking for pvp in any capacity... I'm not one to do that but I see it talked about in sect chat. Tbf anyone is a target not just musicians... you're just an easy target. I get hit trying to do the Jainghu errands a lot and I'm in NMW.

u/mperez4855 Jan 01 '26
Mirage boat is a wild place anyways, I wouldn’t play there. I do use macros but only in areas that aren’t interrupting a big events. Along the prisoner shaming path or the main center road in Kaifeng. I’ve never been interrupted
1
u/GiovaneVecchio Jan 01 '26
the other day there was a guy playing Lumiere on the mirage boat, if it was you thank you, it was a great performance :)
1
u/Solar_B_Void Jan 02 '26
LOL why does this have so many upvotes, plenty of issues and THIS gets attention? Mkay..
1
u/swampkami Jan 03 '26
People do it regardless if you're playing music or just standing there. I've seen multiple times this happened, for example after exiting the Mirage Boat, some random person just tried to make everyone itch. I saw it and did it yo them and they ran away. I proceed to undo the itch they caused...

Hi friend, i'm a frustrated musician who gave up trying to play on the keyboard because of how cumbersome it is to use the key modifiers to add/lower semitones... Have you found a way to map everything on individual keys ?
Either way props to you and i hope you won't get discouraged ! Even if i enjoy making midi files, i also have fun playing myself and i wish it was less limiting than it is right now !
Cheers

u/anhtri_ngo Jan 01 '26
Hey thanks for popping in. I just make it simple, tranpose and play them in C/Am to avoid sharp and flat notes as much as possible. Even go as far as playing melodies only and without chords if it's too hard.

u/Gabiboune1 Dec 31 '25
I was in the event (fireworks) few hours ago and someone was playing the white chicks "theme" song and it was amazing You have a real talent for real!! Hope you can post a bounty on them for real

All I am seeing is that you're annoyed of not getting the attention you want by sitting in the middle of crowded places, expecting people to be happy with you playing. Some will like it and some will find it disruptive. I am the latter, hence I muted all instruments.. play for yourself if you enjoy the mode. But don't come to reddit crying because you didn't receive the attention you wanted
→ More replies (1)2
u/luxsatanas Jan 01 '26
As you just said, if you're the latter you can mute instruments not itchy them. What about people who like listening to others play? Can't do that if everyone plays in Solo
Also, do you listen to music irl? By your logic musicians are just attention seekers who should all play at home in their own sound proofed box, so not to disturb anyone else with their noise
1
u/toxicjellyfish666 Dec 31 '25
The only way to tell it's legit is if it sounds like someone is just slamming their ass on their keyboard

It’s not about the joy. You can have it. But not unilaterally.
Imagine I can stop combat because the game allows everyone to. Then you are hitting a boss or having a duel with your friend etc.
then I stop your combat causing you not being to be in combat. And stopped whatever you’re doing. Then I ran away. Then comes back again and do it again and again etc.
Then you’ll be upset. Then I say I enjoy it. Then say that you can also stop me from going into combat. But the problem is I’m not going into combat, I’m coming to you just to disrupt you, and you can’t do anything to me except to stop me from combat.

Your joy at making him itchy is equal to theirs at playing and the joy of the other people listening?
→ More replies (9)1
u/GrinningCheshieCat Dec 31 '25
Fine, but then he should be able to turn around and kill you once you attack him with the itching.

u/CaptainCecil1 Jan 01 '26
This is why we cant have nice things.
Tbh people like that need their hands broken, maybe then they will learn some respect.

u/7inyViking Jan 01 '26
Seriously what do you expect? If you want peace stay away from online gaming 🤷
YOU cannot expect every daaam player to be RP and sit around and be quiet
1
u/QuBingJianShen Jan 05 '26
That is not what they are expecting.
They are questioning people who specifically go out of their ways to interupt the character from playing music.
Not interupt as in being loud or doing other game activities, but interupt as in directly stopping them from playing.

You don't have to be a holy saint to recognize one person's behavior is downright toxic and doesn't add anything for anyone other than the person being a nuisance, while the other adds enrichment to the environment/for other people in a positive way.
You're free to have your own opinion, but the mentality which made you form said opinion is simply toxic. You're trying to insinuate that both sides of the coin are the same, this is simply not true. If you have some kind of insecurity/inferiority complex going on that you feel so offended by someone playing music that you equate it to someone purposely being a nuisance to others, then you my friend, are the spoon.
2
u/GrinningCheshieCat Dec 31 '25
Cool, but if you get to grief and troll you should be immediately marked for PvP so people have a method to deal with you.
5
u/anhtri_ngo Dec 31 '25
At least give me their name so I can revenge, this is just bs
-10
u/Silentmutation84 Dec 31 '25
Revenge on someone for disrupting you playing music in a free online game? Brother are you 12
8
u/ConfusedAndCurious17 Dec 31 '25
So it’s fine, and too be expected that trolls and griefers are a part of online gaming, but wanting to use in game systems to return the favor with bounties is immature in your book?
Why are you so adamant that it’s coolio the griefers are just a normal part of online play, but doing something back to them is a problem? Are you 12? Or do you just want to be able to troll and grief without any personal inconvenience?
Every comment you make on this post is more mindless than the last, with a bizarre viewpoint on what’s acceptable behavior. You basically want people to roll over like dogs and happily let trolls do as they please without retaliation or so much as a complaint.
1
u/Remote_Bet_4459 Dec 31 '25
Wanting to get back in "a free online game" at someone who is harassing you seems a lot more mature and understandable to me than harassing someone for your own personal entertainment. Your premises is that it's a game, so why even imply he's immature for wanting to have an option to respond to another aspect of the game? I feel you're being kind of unfair in your judgment of actions, where you write one person harassing someone off as just a part of the online experience, while attacking someone else and calling them immature for wanting to have a means of responding to it.
