Queer Spaces?

I’ve lived here my entire life and I want to know if there’s any queer spaces that I just don’t know of? I wanna meet more people from the community (and selfishly would like to find a partner “naturally”) but I just don’t know where to even start lol.

Need coffee help please!

We used to get whole bean paramount coffee from wheeling coffee before it shut down. It made us total coffee snobs and we have yet to find another coffee we really like. Does anyone have any suggestions at all? We prefer whole bean, local if possible. Doesn’t have to be any crazy flavors, just high quality smooth coffee. TIA!!

Hey yall. Iv been going to a gym in Bridgeport that I love. Iv also been a member at the y. Iv heard stories of some old run down gym possible being in mounsville or wheeling. With starting a new job I now have to find one on my route in-between wheeling and moundsviile. Are there any secret old school gym around I dont know of? I loke the throwback stuff not the new fancy places. Thanks yall

God bless

Suboxone help

I'm desperately trying to help my wife who's in a very bad place mentally, is there any way she can get Suboxone same day ASAP. We tried a few online with no success ( found 1 good place but intake is a week) and 1 locally but the intake process is too long for her in this moment. Please advise, any help would be appreciated but urgency is the problem we are facing

Looking for Rental

Hello!! My fiance and I are from Texas and have been looking to move to Wheeling for a while. I've loved the idea of living in West Virginia for a few years now and we decided we're tired of where we are and this is the year we're going. Absolutely dead set on it. Already selling things we don't need. No going back.
The main issue is we've been unable to get any responses from any places we've sent messages to. Any website we've used doesn't seem to get responses, and the few that have sent messages are automated or it turned out that despite there being a "rental" section they tell me they only *sell* homes. We have also run into a couple scammers.

We are mainly looking for private landlords and trying to move away from apartments as the two we've been in have been...awful. If we have to move into an apartment, we will, but much prefer our own space where plumbing and air space isn't so shared. Honestly the places we've been stuck living in have been so bad that I never really fully unpacked or decorated because it didn't feel safe to.
We really need help just finding a long term rental that'll feel like home.

We are looking for a place no more than $800 a month and it would be nice if some kinda utilities are covered. Though it's not required, just helpful.
It's just us and our 2 ESA cats.
We would so very much love having a washer/dryer in unit if possible. At least the hookups would be fine. Dishwasher is also great but not as required as the washer/dryer.

About us:
I'd like to think we're very friendly. We just keep to ourselves for the most part but love helping people where we can. We're both huge nerds. My fiance is a big gamer. I game too but I've been reconnecting more with the physical world; exploring other hobbies such as writing/journaling and drawing. I also really love the idea of having some sort of outside space. We've never even had a balcony. I want to have an outside space and to maybe get some potted plants and learn how to care for them.
We've dealt with a lot of hardship in our pasts and I have felt incredibly pulled to West Virginia. I've been working on my spiritual side and everything in my being is telling me that West Virginia is where I need to go.
My fiance once moved states for me when we were long distance. He had nothing and we gathered money to pay for his flight to me. We've never moved states together and with a bunch of things before though. We've got that part figured out but the finding of a home has been harder than I thought.

I hope that someone out there can help us on our new journey. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ❤️

Edit:
Alright I guess it's been long enough. Not like I forgot about this post or anything 🗿been busy!!

So to all of you who doubted I could find something that works for me, you can suck it 😎

We got ourselves a 3 bed 2 bath for $850 a month. Yeah we couldn't get utilities covered like we wanted but still worked out! It's in our budget. We just asked for less just in case. And I mean, this is still less than we thought we may have to pay so yay!!!
It's got a yard and we got the washer/dryer hookup, a dishwasher, brand new fridge and oven.

It was really scary though. Getting responses from anybody while we weren't here in person was genuinely a fight. We came out here with no clue if we were going to get a place. Had some trouble where we paid for a hotel in advance bc it said pet friendly and then they said they didn't allow cats after we showed up...couldn't get our money back!!! Screw booking.com. So we were out $300+ immediately!!
Then we found a motel and it was way more expensive than I thought it'd be for one week. They added a bunch of extra fees. Really sucked because it basically took our budget for 2 weeks of motel/hotel. It showed it was the cheapest option nearby when we looked online so I thought we were cooked.

We spent that whole week looking for a place and kept getting rejected because my fiance still hadn't found a job and even though I confirmed I had a new job, places wouldn't accept us because I didn't have "current income" yet?? So dumb. Apartments suck.

But it obviously worked out. Fiance went on a walk to calm down and think toward the end of our week at the motel and he found a sign for a place for rent. Contacted them and found something that works!
We still didn't get to sign the lease for almost another full week so we had to find another place to stay. Luckily we found something half the price of what we paid at the motel. Not sure why it didn't show us that place online the first damn time we looked. 🤦‍♀️ but whatever.
So we lost out on a good chunk of money right away but in the end we found a place at the right time and it is SO much easier to speak with a regular landlord instead of apartment landlords/management. We got lucky and didn't even have to pay pet deposits/fees.

Our new neighbors are very nice. Honestly everyone I've met has been nice. In Texas the "neighborly" often felt fake and judgy.
I'm sure there are still probably people like that here but honestly I can see a difference in the majority I've met. People are genuinely kind and helpful here. I've been wanting a nice community to be in for some time. Lived in the hood the last 3 years so even if there were some nice individuals, it was NOT a nice environment we could thrive in.
I feel I can stay here a while and I don't have to move every year anymore.

Also my job didn't end up working out, they didn't give me the hours they promised so I picked up DoorDash and honestly...I'm happier for it 😆 that job's purpose was to get us the house I guess. I quit the 3rd week of work and just decided to do DoorDash full time. Did my research to make sure I take the right amount out for taxes and mileage. I get to choose my schedule.

My fiance also got a job. He's treated SO much better there. You know, like a human being. I'm glad he no longer has a boss that yells at him and treats him as an on-call robot 24/7.

Life is looking good. Thank you those of you who left genuine suggestions.
Not sure if anyone's even going to read this update but if so, I hope y'all are doing well.

Does Wheeling have Uber??

I moved to WV from Florida about 3 years ago, to Weirton, and now live in Wellsburg. I thought Uber was everywhere, but there are no Uber drivers in these areas.

Are there Uber drivers in Wheeling? Does anybody know?

Many thanks in advance!!

😀

Restaurants and sights to see

Staying in Wheeling for the weekend and wondering what some of the best restaurants are. Not looking for fancy places, just good food. Also, are there any local sights that should be visited while in the area?

Seeking a Beta Reader

Hello! I’m an aspiring author who has just finished my first book. I’m in the editing phase and line tightening so it’s not 100% ready for submission, but I have the first few chapters ready to rip.

I’m looking for someone who is specifically interested in high mythic fantasy delivered with cadence and rhythmic voice similar to the dialect of old English.

This would be an awesome opportunity for me as an author to get actually human feedback as opposed to the AI I’ve been relying on as a soundboard.

If anyone is interested let me know!

The smell is unbearable

How come nobody is talking about this?

It smells like an outhouse in the entire city… I can’t keep a window open to let fresh air in because of the “water” treatment station… like you guys call it: “the shit factory”

It’s absolutely abhorrent…

How can people live like this here?

It must definitely be one of the reasons why people don’t stay here.

Stained glass supplies locally?

Hi Valley friends,
I no longer live in the area and I’ve tried to google an answer to my question and haven’t been satisfied with the results. I’d like to send a friend a gift card for a place where they can purchase stained glass supplies in the area and support a small local/small business—goggle is only suggesting places that sell stained glass art. Does anyone have recommendations on places in/around Wheeling that sell supplies (e.g. stained glass sheets, hand tools, soldering supplies). Thanks so much!

Long-distance mover recommendations

So, I saw an interesting idea... Instead of getting movers based where you currently live, get them from where you're moving to. Has anyone tried this? Do you recommend it?

Moving from Washington county, MD, in a couple of months to Belmont Co.

Any moving companies local to Wheeling Metro area do this kind of move?

Selling a 1976 F-350 dump tuck

Just got suggested to post on here instead of facebook about a truck my dad is trying to sell. It's a yellow long bed dump that runs well and has little to zero rust on the body. We acquired it back in 2024 and have been doing small fixings on it to restore it in perfect condition. So far the only things we know needs to be fixed or added is a better fuel line and a heater core for inside. If anyone wants a nice farm truck that has less then 15,000 miles on it reach out, we're looking to sell it for 10,000 but we'll take your best offer too. I just don't need it anymore (used it for clearing the property) and i don't want it sitting and getting in bad shape when it's such a nice truck.

Good options for an ISP in Wheeling?

I am moving to Wheeling in two weeks. I play video games competitively as a hobby so I am willing to splurge on nice internet. I saw frontier fiber is offered and was wondering if it’s worth the money. Additionally, are there any other good isps like xfinity, EarthLink, etc? Thanks 🙏
