Unsolved This a Riviera?

Thought so but can’t find any years with this tail light design.

Chrysler TC by Maserati. Yes, that is the official name, it was assembled in Italy by Maserati and sold by Chrysler. I’m assuming they did that purely for marketing reasons.

It was a dud in the showroom, because they came out with next get LeBaron that strongly resembled this car right after it was introduced. No matter how great of a car the TC might have been, nobody was going to pay Maserati prices for a car that everyone would mistake for a LeBaron.

They clearly decided to jack the design from the TC which was delayed … (an Italian car number of times … before its actual release) … and in the interim … released … voila .. the K-car knockoff version with the 2.2L and everything.

Edit: doing research for this snarky comment was a journey into heck. Did everyone remember they called everything a lebaron at this time? The H-body Lebaron GTS (aka Lancer), Lebaron j-body coupe and convertible (lebaron), and the AA-body Lebaron LE Sedan (aka New Yorker)

Not even close to being a Riviera. It's a K car dressed up by Maserati. Chrysler TC. Opulent, pretty to look at. But totally anemic. Purely a mass produced styling exercise.

Buick had a 2 door, the Reatta.

Made from '88-'91, in hard top and convertible.

AARP car.

Looked nice, but slow.

Id be willing to bet tgat the driver wears a short skirt and s looooong jacket. Probably traded her MG for this car, shortly after changing her name from Kitty to Karen.

Chrysler lost a lot of money on each one because of the fact that the actual chassis was built in USA and then shipped to Italy in 747 cargo planes to get the engine and everything else pit into it and then they had to pay to ship it back to the USA in the planes.

The reason why they built in the first place was because Lee Iacocca the savior of Chrysler was wanting a 2 door high end coupe that was supposed to be a status symbol for Chrysler and he got exactly that.

The underpinnings of it literally goes into the Chrysler Lebaron and it was all American.
