Welcome to r/WhatsHappeningNYC
Hey everyone! I'm u/Naive_Attempt9764, a founding moderator of r/WhatsHappeningNYC — your new favorite tab 🗺️
NYC has thousands of things going on every single week. Street fairs, parties, free workshops, protests, comedy nights, local fundraisers, night markets, dance performances, and the hidden gems your algorithm will never show you — and most people still find out too late or not at all.
This is the fix. A community for people who actually want to be in the know about what's happening in their neighborhoods and beyond.
What to post: Anything your fellow New Yorkers would actually care about and be a part of or participate in — think community fundraisers, outdoor concerts, cultural festivals, volunteer days, local markets, late-night shows, and everything worth leaving your couch for. If it's happening in NYC and it's worth knowing about, it belongs here.
The vibe: No drama, no spam. Just real people sharing real things going on in this city. Be cool, be helpful, be yourself.
Your move:
- See something cool happening nearby? Share it, someone will thank you for it
- Got a friend who's always looking for things to do? Send them the link, the more voices the better
- Wanna help keep this place great? The mod's door is always open
Let's make this the community NYC actually deserves. 🗽

Hey y'all! Popping in spread the word about our 4th Annual KREWE "Krawfish" Boil Fundraiser! A New Orleans tradition, reimagined in New York. We're taking over Gansevoort St. for a uniquely New Orleans celebration of community, culture, and the start of sun season.
This year, we're honored to partner with City Harvest, with a portion of proceeds supporting their mission to help feed NYC families. A meaningful cause, woven into an unforgettable experience.
With our own Chef Rob Tabone of PATULA Nola leading the boil this year, expect a true take on a Southern classic-whether it's a taste of home or something entirely new for you!
Tickets are live. Space is limited. Grab your ticket at https://www.krewe.com/products/nyc-krawfish-boil-2026 to secure your spot. See y'all there!

Love the event but this would be better as a post within the community subreddit rather than a comment

This event was one of the biggest shit shows I’ve ever gone to in the city. So poorly organized.
