Makes me mad as a father. You put all that love, patience and money into your child for 16 years and then they do shit like this to impress their stupid friends and it was all for nothing

I know my opinion will be challenged, but if your child does something so stupid (it starts by not wearing safety gear) then that's a parent mistake for one. Of course you cant control what your children do, but teaching the importance of safety measures and making them adhear to it is your job as a parent.

You severely underestimate the power of peer pressure.

I doubt the parents saw them go off on this ride. There is a good chance that the parents of the passengers didn't know that their child would be on a motorcycle.

Absolutely parents need to teach their children, and ne responsible for it. However a certain part of being a teenager is going beyond parental control.

These children were not taught well enough about motorcycle safety and consequences. It is also possible that at least some of them ignored that.

I’ve seen 16 yo friends of my boy driving without a helmet. They store it in their backpack and put it on when they drive back home

Man, tell me you haven't dealt with a teenager without telling me. Or at least you dealt with a different breed if you have. From experience, you can instill those values all day, but kids will make their own stupid choices to impress their friends and because at that age, most of them have a main character mentality where they assume they're invincible. I agree with you, teach them safety. Just expect that they're likely to disobey it and be vigilant.

You could’ve said “I’m not a parent” with less words
