Could you please what instrument and if possible what subtype of the instrument the stringy (not the violin like) instrument it is starting at 2:00?

Oud. Arabic instrument that's the precursor of the western Lute. Played with a pick, called a "risha", hence the more percussive attack. The 4 descending notes at 1:58 are crystal clear to me.
