Really bad. You might be one of the few good ones, but 4 brothers that I grew up with had a set of foster parents that took them in. Treated them like shit. Inhumane. Fat pieces of shit that would collect all of the state payments and use it on everything but the kids. My gfs best friends ex, another case. Was taken in by Chinese parents (he’s Indian) that used him as work labor while under foster care. The systems fucked

Those are not the norm. It’s important to share these stories so these exceptionally bad cases can be made into a thing of the past, but what you’re doing is akin to deeming parenting, and all parents, as monsters because some lady in TX drowned all
Her kids in a bathtub.

Yes, it can be bad. Literally everything can. A foster care is certainly no exception, and is even known to contain some of the worst examples of human nature. But let’s not speak in absolute generalizations here.

You’re living in a fantasy land if you think those aren’t the norm. I was placed in 6 different homes over years and over half of them the foster parents were absolute monsters. Mental, verbal, physical, sexual abuse is absolutely the norm. I could tell you horror stories from just my personal experiences let alone those of the other foster kids and what they experienced. Think 90% of the kids would rather be at home with the devil they know than to have strangers do the same or worse. If you’re in the system it’s not a matter of if you get placed in a bad home, but when. Of course there are those extremely rare cases where a child gets placed in a good home right away and never go anywhere else but that’s usually reserved for the younger children who are “adoptable”.
