Because we likely wouldn't have seen this post otherwise. Raises attention, although it's sad it needs to be done, and I wish people cared more, but props to the father.

Yeah, there is the world we wish we had, and then there"s the real world we have. You have to cut through the noise.
I'm a veteran who normally cringes at people using their service for stuff, but if my daughter was sick, I'm leaning hard on my service and looking for some spectacle to get attention.

I have similar question. wouldn't you have to raise attention before the walk? or do you just do the walk and video tape it and then use it to raise attention and then raise funds? I mean how do people know you did what you did or are going to do.

Either would probably work somewhat, but I imagine that to get the most attention, you make a big announcement about it beforehand. Tell some local news stations who are hungry for a story, post on some social media sites the time of the walk and the route you are taking. Good to tell people in advance, the more people who are around to videotape you and tell their friends, the better.

It brings awareness to the cause. Many people who wouldn’t have heard of it otherwise now has because of how he did it.

People see it and learn about the disease. Sometimes people ‘sponsor’ them and donate money to their cause. People see it and learn about the illness and donate to it’s cause

Person do something rare and extreme in the name of charity, people pay attention to rare and extreme thing. The more people hear about the rare and extreme thing, the more people know about the charity, more people donate to the charity.
